  • The Video Driver (known as the Family Driver in Japan) is an obscure video game console released by Sega in 1988. The console consisted of a bar that hung down in front of the television. A tiny plastic car, representing the player, was placed on top of it. This car was controlled using the wired steering wheel controller.
The games were held on VHS tapes and contained dashcam footage with a black and white bar at the bottom that was used to tell the console which parts of the screen were covered by the road. The objective of the game was to follow the course of the road, stopping as needed, to maximize your score. If your plastic car drifted off the road, it would see the white flashing portion of the bar and trigger lights, sound, and a reduction in your score.
This game focuses on chasing another car along the highway and around the California coastline.
