I don't believe I found her in Heinlein system, but it was in another system in that general vicinity of space. She's a companion in that you can equip her, add her to ship or outpost, or run missions with her (as opposed to some of the "nameless" NPCs e.x., "energy weapon specialist" who cannot be equipped or go out with you on missions). Betty is a hoot! I have her on my outpost and is a constant source of comedy. She's always chucking 'nades at seemingly anything that moves (even my animal husbandry critters in my outpost). When she says she's trigger-happy, she really means it! And her dialog has me rolling in laughter.

I found her in Heinlein as well. It was marked as a distress signal

Isn’t she crew, not companion? It’s actually a big difference.

You can't romance her if that is what you mean, but you can run missions with her. Sorry if I used a confusing or incorrect term

Kind of, but I don't consider it that big a difference. I'm pretty sure crew need to be assigned to your ship before they can be used as a follower, whereas a "companion" can follow you without being assigned (though I've never had a non-mission companion who couldn't be assigned).
