Hiking the GR20 in Corsica - Highlights of a 11 days adventure

  • With a friend we hiked the toughest long trail in Corsica this summer - the GR20
    Instead of the recommended 16 days itinerary, we did it from north to south in 11 days, with a total distance of 220km (the official number is 180km, my friend's watch recorded 220km with all the side hikes we did) , and 13km elevation gain.
    Here's a cinematic travel video of this unforgettable trek, hope it will give you an idea of how the trails look like and how breathtaking the views are.
    ps: a lot of people don't recommend doing the GR20 with a backpack heavier than 12kg, mine was 17kg (5kg camera gear) on the first day and I was definitely fine.
    I've done a 10-days self guided hike in the Andes though ( 3500aslm +) , with a 22kg backpack as there was no food supply at all :p
    So my recommendation would be: go with your experience
    Filmed with iPhone X

      There is no wildcamping in corsica so you sleep at campsites that sometimes have little local shops where you can get these ;) you don't carry it all the way

    • @tgo_CBR
      @tgo_CBR Před 3 lety

      It's done north to South because its usually easier to get to Calvi from ferrry drop off or Airport. Also north section is harder so better to do at beginning with fresh legs.

    Beautiful video!!! Do you have some recommendation for the sleeping bag. I do have a synthetic (3°c comfort/ -3°c limit , 1kg) and a down (10°c comfort/ 5°c limit, 500g). Currently my favorite is the synthetic one. Weight is not the main issue. More the volume :)

    • @emmaoutthere
      @emmaoutthere  Před 3 lety

      Hi Scherry, thank you for your message. I would recommend bringing the synthetic one as the temperature can drop down dramatically at higher altitude. I took a down 0c comfort, it was perfect for me.

  • @caubergj
    @caubergj Před rokem

    Nice, well-made marketing clip, though little to do with what the GR20 is really about. Makes me think of swollen concepts like ‘bucket-list’. Suggestion for those who want to embark on this magnificent hike: spend some time with ‘older’ people who complete the trail in silence at the age of 75 to -yes- over 80 and listen to their stories. Put away your phones and cameras and connect to yourself, nature and people.
