    Full carbon fiber surfboard glassing but this time I did not use the vacuum technique - I wanted to be able to compare between the two, it worth the time and the effort of the vacuum? and extra cost? let's find out!
    Board dims are 5'10 X 18" x 2 5/16"
    In this video, I did the laps sanding, hot coat - sanding and finished it off with a cool sealer for a silk sand finish. it was a cool build and a very very good result!

    Welcome to my channel
    My name is Koby and I am a surfboard shaper from Israel
    For the last 7 years, I shape and build surfboards in my small workshop here in Israel. I will upload surfboard-building tutorials, shaping tools reviews, and great tips about working with epoxy resin.
    All my boards are made from EPS and epoxy resin and I like to go crazy with my resin! I will do swirls using tints and pigments, cloth inlays, weird shapes, and more.
    I can talk about surfboards all day, so feel free to ask me any questions you may have and I will do my very best to answer them in the best way possible

    That's great work!
    Unlike fiberglass, carbon is not very good for the lungs, so I hope you pay attention to your protective gear, I want to see a lot of your work, you should always be healthy!

    So 5 percent of 2kg is 100gr. I really appreciate you have done this testing so I don't need to. Great job.

      5% of the amount you are mixing at the time, in this video i used 300gr for the hot cote so 15gr of pigment was enough to get it to be completely opaque 🤙🏼

    Those 2 boards look awesome, would love to learn how to make a carbon board, and all the materials needed! Think it’s the only way to get one CANT afford one

      LOL, material are also expensive 😎
      All the materials are same a part from the carbon itself

    I expected the carbon didn’t stick an the underside of the board. But it worked very well! Nice build again!

    what grit sand paper did you use when sanding off the resin in the beginning?

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  Před 2 lety +1

      Witch part? If you are talking about the deck and red resin- i start with 120, than 240, 320, 400 and water paper, if your hot cote is not perfect you should start with 80 grit but be careful not sand through 🤙🏼

    Nice job!! freelap are visible on the botton? do you use fiber or just resin to laminate logos?

      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  Před rokem +1

      You can see the lap buy almost nothing, it is bleeding nicely. I never done color logos , i used an Acrilic pen and clear coat over it 🤙🏼

    Concrete sealer. Is it expensive? Who shaped it? Where are you guys located? Real nice shape by the way.

    Gorgeous board Koby! how much does one cost for a customer in USD? we have the Dark Arts here that builds carbon boards and they are twice the price of a normal PU.

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  Před 2 lety +2

      Over here it is the same more or less - about 3800 nis (1250$) materials cost went way up (epoxy mostly) due to shipping prices 😭
