- There are a lot of challenges in CRNA school and some of them you may be particularly bad at. For me time management was a big one. Let's talk about how I got through school and lived to tell about it.

I agree with most of the video. I feel like the material is a lot (amount wise) but conceptually doable. I think it matters how the program is designed. My program seems to be designed really well (at least for me) and is the building of concepts and repetition of concepts. We keep seeing the same concepts but in progressively more complex detail, which makes it easier to understand because you have a foundation you are building off of. I also find my program professors are super supportive. It is doable, it just requires the work and dedication for sure!
Getting my MSN in education. I have two semesters left🤪 I am so done with patient care, but find your video’s inspiring and they keep me going!
Keep up the good work!
I appreciate your transparency! I too struggle with time management.
Thanks for watching!

Yup lets bring positivity!!!! 😊💯
Studying and time management is my biggest issue as well. Currently in my second semester of my ADN program and still keeping straight A's so far. I got to finally shadow a CRNA in the OR a few days ago and I was alot more interested in it than I thought I would be. I'm waiting to see how I end up growing as a nurse to decide if I'm motivated enough to eventually apply for CRNA school, but I know I definitely want to work in the ICU. Thank you so much for your videos Bolt, I've been watching them for a couple years now and you really give an invaluable look into the journey and life of a CRNA. 😊
That's great you got to shadow. It's a long road to CRNA but I think it's worth it. Keep your feelers out and see if it's for you.
I always feel bad letting down family and friends when I can’t hang out! That’s been the hardest part for me
I had to leave my mom in a hospital recovering from a broken hip to return to anesthesia rotations in another state.
I think one of the most imitating parts of CRNA programs (at least for me) is the research and DNP project. Could you share your thoughts/experiences regarding that? Thank you for sharing your experiences!!
Good idea for a future vid.
I’m still in the didactic portion of my CRNA schooling. I am one of those people who likes to write out how may day is going to go (wake up at 05:30, get up at 06:00) but I usually do blocks of time. Like from 07:00-12:00 I would study or listen to new lectures for a specific class (we are remote because of COVID so lectures are recorded), but I’m not doing it straight through (I use the Pomodoro method). The next X amount of time would be on the next topic or next subject.
The tests are some of the toughest exams I have ever taken, but I really prefer them over the Nursing School questions. I totally agree that Nursing school tests are more like “what is the most correct answer” which frustrated the crap out of me (especially when some of them were so subjective).
I think the hardest part for me is burn out. You are putting so much time and effort into this schooling, which will definitely be worth it, but in the process you just get so exhausted to the point where you don’t even want to do the next thing you have to do. I made a valiant effort this semester to try to take it easy (and overall I wasn’t as stressed as the last semester), but I still got burnt out to the point where I pretty much bombed one of my pathophysiology exams. This was an eye opening moment and forced me to get my butt back in gear. Second hardest I think is finding time to take care of yourself (exercise, eating right, making sure to have SOME social life with family or friends)
The stress of it can be overwhelming. Every day is a new day.
Haha, great... so everything lol. Start in less than a month and starting to get quite anxious!
Fingers crossed!
organization and time managment will help us to not get crazy along the way
Hi! Love your vids🤗 I've contemplated becoming a CRNA for quite some time. Any tips on studying or looking at possible material for 1st year of school? Is it pretty generic if googled?
Thx for speaking on the time management. I make the best to-do lists but rarely execute them😢 I felt I worked best under pressure in nursing school but was stressed the night b4 making sure I had everything down. I know that I won't be able to do that as I progress lol so just trying to see if I should try something else. Thx in advance
Check back on some of my videos in 2016/2017 when I was a 1st year and talked all about the materials.
@@BoltCRNA cool! Thx
Keeping it real. I watch your videos and I've commented before, because my son wants to be a CRNA, he thought. He graduates with his BSN in a few weeks. He has been offered and accepted a placement in the ICU. Unfortunately, his current thinking is that he dislikes the increasing autonomy of CRNAs (fearful, I think). You seem to thrive on increased autonomy. I know the topic is loaded, but would you consider to a video of advantages and disadvantages, please.
Relatable. When I was graduating nursing school I was terrified of the idea of being responsible for critically ill patients over night, titrating their drips, monitoring for dangerous vital sign trends, assessing for changes. Within a year in the unit it was second nature. After a few years in the ICU and then 3 years of a doctorate in anesthesia he will grow into the role.
Thanks so much. I hope to see him adapt as you did.
My classmates are very organized with their time, I am very much not. Doing just fine so far though 🤷🏽♂️😂
It's all one day at a time.
💪
Preop RN can't get the IV --> it's the SRNA's fault. Lol, that's CRNA school in a nutshell. Glad to be done with that bullshit.
Accurate.
Knowing what you know now, would you go through it all over again?
Yes, wouldn't change a thing.
@@BoltCRNA Thanks, Bolt! ⚡
Any positives to crna school?? The first 10 minutes of this video is like straight out of a horror movie lol
The positives are that one day you get to be a CRNA.
