Its hard to believe that it's been almost 30 years since the release of this song. I can remember quite clearly, when it came out. It was 2.5 years after I left Germany and tte US Army and we were about year out of the cold war and things were getting better between Russia and the U.S. (which is why this song meant so much to me).
Yeah, it's an amazing and wonderful song. It reminds us of the fall of the Berlin Wall ("take me to the magic of a glory night" (= 9th to 10 Nov. 1989) and "freedom bell". The freedom bell actually rang in Berlin. At the same time tensions between Russia and the US decreased. This song gets a lot of people emotional.

As much as I love this song I hate the fact that some only remember the scorpions for this track, they are a world class heavy metal band yet a majority think they are a pop band.

The first one played A Martian Winter by Angel Vivaldi. I added some sweeps with the leads, and the crowd went wild. Never was so proud of myself before. Haha haha. Also got the second best guitar player.

The OP says singers could actually sing like on the record... because this was the record, as they did in the "glory era" on most TV shows. That's what we're hearing in this video. Klaus' voice is layered and harmonized, Rudi's playing one guitar but two guitar parts (harmony line in his solo while Matthias plays chords), the drums are just stupid studio processed, and the whistling doesn't match the mic movement. They were capable of sounding great live, but they didn't do this live. I wish they had. They were an amazing band.
