- I apologize about my constant squinting... this is our first sunshine in about 9 months!
Showing how to make a mini North American carnivorous plant bog with Sarracenia (North American Pitcher Plants), Dionaea (Venus Flytrap), and Drosera filiformis (Thread Sundew).
All these plants are hardy in our zone, Zone 8b so they are grown outside and left outside year round.
Materials:
Pot (Any pot except terra cotta or other clay-based pot will do.)
Plants (Sarracenia, Dionaea, Drosera)
Potting Mix (1/2 Perlite and 1/2 Sphagnum Peat Moss)
Water (Reverse Osmosis, Distilled, Rain...but in our case our ta (portlandbg.org/p water is safe for Carnivorous Plants!)
This specific bog will be donated to the Portland Botanical Garden to be auctioned off (portlandbg.org)
Our Sarracenia collection is private but we do sell them at our shop!

Hi there, I’m from UK 🇬🇧, I like the idea of having drainage holes in the pot as when I did one without, the bowl stank! So thanks once again 😊
Oh yay!! I would absolutely love to do something like this in the future. I’ll probably ask you 100 questions before I do it. It was such a pleasure checking out your shop today, and meeting you! I will be back soon
Wow! Great collection
Bit rough aren’t you?
Very cool, love your collection 💚🌱
So beautiful
Thts a huge collection ♡
Do you cut ur sarracenia at winter (for dormancy period), cuz u said its still spring and they are tall af for spring? Thanks
I cut them early spring before flowers come up. Usually by Autumn they're droopy. The pitchers that you see here are this year's pitchers.
@@theothersidenursery they are gorgeous, nice work
No drainage layer? Made one mini bog garden and in the process of turning an old recycle bin into another one.
Damn #PlantDaddy teach me how to bog!
wtf
Ew
I thought this was funny af don’t listen to these party poopers
I put my fly trap outside for dormancy in the winter in Zone 8B and it got annihilated
Cómo las avientas
สวยงามมากค่ะ
No sundew :(
Filiformis is a sundew
I cringed so hard when you were telling the story of how your dad was “helping” you lol
You would seem to have vanity issues pal.
Wtf?! Such a random unnecesary comment. Do you know of the concept minding your own business?
