some people wondering , there is some other instrumental but u don’t see on the video and why ? . We are live-recording keyboard , drums , sax , bass . but also playing backing truck which has guitar , other horn etc ( the instruments u don’t see on the video ) . MiMi is hearing the click and the truck during performance in ear 👂 . So we can much with the truck too .
..Tried to break it down for non-musician people but sorry if it’s hard to understand .🥲🙏
Excellent’
Love it! And great job explaining the click track to non-musicians. Anytime you hear instruments you don't see folks, it's a click track, often just called a "track" or "playing (singing) to track".
Well, I guess she means backing tracks that are pre-recorded and played back togther with a click. The click gives the drummer an accoustic guidance that she plays along with to keep the band and the pre-recorded tracks in sync.
You girls are absolutely amazing, so funky! Love it! 😚👌👱♀️
..this is so good..well done😀👌
The older I get the more I see that everything runs in cycles. Case in point. I old enough to have experience Funk in the 70's, and low and behold it's a thing again.
Speaking as a pretty nonstop funk aficionado, its never really stopped being a thing. CZcams's simply made it easier to find it after it stopped getting radio play. Living in there states since the 90's I've always managed to find healthy funk scenes, especially in the southeast like Georgia
And it's more polished this time round... At least as I see it
My gues is that in the 70s you didn’t find a group of Japanese girls playing funk
@Big bankie Bobby Still right.
@Big bankie Bobby get nine haircuts zoomer
At 75 it's refreshing and nostalgic to see young people today making the genre of groove that launched my career as a jazz-funk musician 50 years ago.
Thought you were gonna say they are appropriating blacks 😂
@@thatdude3977 Yes, but that wouldn't be the case. This is clearly 'white people juzz-funk', more like Tower Of Power, Weather Report and so on.
@@Arkturbettel blacks made all modern music!!
Funk never left. It just got mangled by rappers for a while
And that's the thing .. Asia has kept up the legacy, while America has moved on to really shitty, regressive music
No overplaying, no overproduction. Sounds free and cool. I love it.
I love this, too😲.
Groove knows no race or nationality, and I do love how it unites us.
You can say that again🙂Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 5th April 2024.
Ok sure

I beg to differ
Then stop bringing it up. I hadn't noticed til your comment😢
As fan of old school funk I have to say those young ladies can jam.
And there smoking hot 🔥
All girl band, got the 80s j-jazz sound?? Damn 🔥
They can and how bout the way they look ?
Indeed they truly can JAM!
understatement
These women are PHENOMENAL! WHOO! Each lady is amazing on her instrument! That drummer is out of this world, the saxophonist is crazy amazing, the keyboardist is gifted beyond measure, and the bassist is totally in the groove! Wowza! You ladies have the gift and soul of FUNK! ❤🎉 BRAVO!!!
How many times have I played the intro 😮 well check it out when she the drummer is spotlighted the expression on her face says she's the boss.
Or is this AI?
Apa khabar sihat tk pagi ni saya tak dapat nak buat apa pun kita boleh buat apa pun kita tak tau lagi bila nak buat kerja dulu ya sayang dah sampai ke tempat biasa lah tu nak buat apa pun tak tahu lah 😮😮
Daaamn! I'm viking do hard rn! Not to mention these artists are so eeeaaasssyyy on the eyes🤩
Listening to Japanese pop-rock-jazz-funky-electro music for 40+ yrs. And I always find something new and exciting. Bravissimo, young ladies!
I'm a sucker for a funky pocket bassline. Love it.
Watch Candy Dulfer 😉

Agreed, the baseline is killer and the best part is she is feeling it.

Some of us in the United States have to go to other countries that appreciate funk and soul more than our own country that originated it does. Thank you for the beautiful vibes, music, and keeping this genre alive.
Truth. Good thing the Japanese have been doing it since 70's and adding their own flavor.
@@rapid3638 LOL.... What flavor?
If you wanna be technical I appreciate the vibes but it sounds like something from the US. Japan always appreciated U.S culture
@@Rati0nalThinker Of course, it sounds like something from the U.S., since that is where the music originated. Still harder to find the music these days in the U.S.
It kind of reminds me of some of the other popular music from the U.S. from back in the 70's and 80's also. Music that got less and less play here but was still making hits in the UK through the 2000's. Impressed me to be honest. The same goes for Jazz artist from the 40's and 50's. The music lived on to a larger audience but on a different continent.
Jazz music is not as popular as it was in the 20s and 30s, but its still relevant. However, I'm from a big city I'm from New York and they have jazz outlets in Brooklyn and Manhattan as well Radio stations that play jazz. Jazz music itself has evolved into different genres of music.@@rapid3638
Bassist's groove is so brilliant.
That drummer...be still my heart...
shawty too fine

The sax solo in this performance is one of those rare feats of musical craft where you find it more and more brilliant the longer you listen to it.
I guess you never listen to Brecker play this is like bubble gum funk

A hot chick jamming is always prettier sounding to the eyes
🤣 original commentor has no experience in sax. She was good, not great. Her lung capacity needs to improve, her scratchy points were an extension of just that. That is the only quirk I have with her. She will be great with a bit more practice.
My thoughts exactly..
She was great, flaws and all.
I lived in Japan (Kyoto / Osaka) for four years, and the quality of musicianship was always nothing short of phenomenal.
Wow lucky you I have heard so much about Osaka unfortunately I didnt make it pass Tokyo when I visited Japan several years ago.
Slamming music can be around for years and no NEVER come across it!!! So glad I came around this joint!!!! SLAMMIN!!!
You can say that again🙂Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 5th April 2024.
Dam, took me 2 years to come across these talented ladies. Playing what I used to hit the jazz clubs for, much love.
Man, my hands down to your group… Everything is working exactly like it’s supposed to work together like a true funky, blues, and jazzy band… I been living in New Orleans to The House of Blues and worked at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and this would be something to see live…🙏🏾
Salute to you Brother! 💯💪🙏✊ It would be good I'm sure, and much more appreciated if they truly love and appreciate where rhe foundation of this Musical sound originated from and the Foundational Black American People that put their Hearts and Souls into creating this Beautiful Music. 💯💪💜🖤🤝B1 #4Life
That 70s funk. What yall know about that? Grrrreat job girls

Thought you were gonna cry racism 😂
The anti auto tune. Young people appreciating the genres and actually learning instruments and striving to be the best at what they do.
Good music and great musicians have always been around. But you won’t hear them on the radio! Recording companies don’t want the masses listening to great music, they pay the radio stations to play that pop trash. Why? A good question

Just plain awesome. The bass work, the Sax , the key board, the percussion by a Japanese Girl band is one of the best & classy renditions in the world. God Bless these musical souls
Wow!! The more I hear Japanese musicians, the more I respect them. They studied Salsa, jazz and now funk and have practically perfected it. Amazing!! I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a big band out there somewhere. I’m looking for this band when I’m there in January of 2023.
The solos are all impressive but the sax solo is brilliant.
Just GREAT!!! ...fabulous interpretación, girls ..You are great and funky musicians👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻...greetings from Ecuador South America
The way she dances with and plays the saxophone is unworldly. How beautiful. I love how the layer of sounds. Thank you for showing us funk as a team of women musicians!

I lived in Japan for eight years as an English teacher. I heard lots of unimpressive J-pop bands who were built more on physical appearance instead of musical talent. These girls are amazing.

This is the best combo for this Quartet so far. Juna was playing straight Jazz Bass which is also done well by her since she is mostly known for her aggressive slapping style. The Sax was a great addition and expands their possibilities now to include worldwide Jazz Festival bookings.
The sax solo starting at 2:43 is genuinely next level jazz soloing!!
ABSOLUTELY! Tears me up to see music worthy of the term "hard bop" come out of present day guys let alone a sexy young girl from a different culture. That second tenor solo left me speehless!
