- A really quick and easy, yet super effective method for painting the Sector Mechanicus terrain from Games Workshop
I buy all my supplies from Goblin Gaming, they're the number 1 rated hobby store on Trustpilot, so do please check them out using my affiliate link below and it'll help me to continue making videos:

The terrain is fantastic as is but the addition of the Warg Flesh Green really makes it pop!
good easy to follow tutorial. would like to see one on the sector imperialis game board pipe and conduit sections.
This turned out really nice. Great job man.
I love the combination of finished effect with relative speed this particular set of techniques afford. Appreciate the insights.
This tutorial is the awesome! By far the best of it's kind. Starting to paint mine like this as well. Thank you! A huge help.
Awesome video dude. I've been looking around for videos on how to paint my sector mechanicus terrain, and your method is by far the best I have seen for a balance of effort and quality of result. Great job!
Your Tutorial was very good and the piece really stands out in quality. Thanks for the Inspiration!!
That looks awesome, i'll definitely be giving this a try!
Absolutely brilliant mate. Thanks for the video, just picked up about 80 pieces of themed and I'll be using your video as my reference for it!
I am new to Warhammer and I have the Kill Team box set...I am going to start on those once I finish my Indomitus box. Great terrain tutorials, thanks for posting!
very inspiring. I will be incorporating what I learned here when I paint mine. Thanks so much!
I'm thinking of getting back into Necromunda, so watching how you paint the little details I love is truly inspiring. However, I use much cheaper blackboard spray paint for undercoating (12 cans from my local discount shop for the price of just one GW Chaos Black spray primer), and use a range of different paints from different manufacturers to paint my figures/terrain. I get pretty much the same results, if not better at times, and love how they look when placed on a battlemat. I also make my own terrain from trash and kit bashing, so the fun never ends :-) Love this video, as Kill Team terrain is beautiful when painted well, with all the details picked out specially, not just dry-brushed silver/grey, then left that way. Keep up the good work, and I'll keep watching :-D
Perfect. Nice painting tutorial!
Thanks a bunch! I'm a brand new painter, and had no idea where to even begin painting the terrain that came with my Kill Team Astartes starter set.
No worries, glad to help!
Very cool, my man. Great job. 👍🏻 You got yourself another subscriber
I found this extremely helpful, thanks for sharing!
I've recently watched quite a few tutorial videos on painting this exact terrain, and this video by far hits the mark for me. I really appreciate your time on this and I'm definitely going to be using this video to accomplish my own Sector Mechanicus terrain. Looking forward to seeing more from your channel.
Thanks very much! Unfortunately, being a freelance artist too, sometimes I have far too much work to do videos, but there are more coming, I promise!
I guess it is kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@Nikolas Dylan flixportal :P
@Saul Sincere thank you, signed up and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it !
@Nikolas Dylan no problem :)
Received a load of terrain yesterday as an early present. Dying to try this out
This was awesome! Thank you.
Thank you very much for this awesome tutorial!!
This is really well done
Great work!!
Great video!
Gonna try this with the new Zone Mortalis from the Necromunda box. I really like this style.
Thanks a lot for this video.
Threw you a sub. Amazing video
nicely done!! btw, what you do at the beginning is actually called "overbrush" :-)
I think it'll look a lot better with highlight on the green paint. If you want do it easily you can use a white pen from artist shop.
Valentin Richaume yeah I did a bit on some of them, but i wanted to keep the tutorial super simple for any skill level And also quick. But yeah there's definitely another level or two of detail you can put on these
Very nice!
Thank you! I hope it helped :)
looking at a way of airbrushing my Dark Uprising terrain and this is the perfect excellent tutorial. I'll see how much I can get away with using the airbrush, but either way, this is brilliant
Honestly, after the black undercoat, it was quicker to drybrush, as airbrushes need cleaning after :p But I prefer drybrushing like this because you preserve some texture, airbrush can be too smooth.
Great video. Thank you for the time that would have taken you to put together! Love the grimier schemes, suits my vision for the 40k universe better than the nice and shiney finish often portrayed.
Any chance you are doing a video on the sector imperialis stuff?
Thanks for watching!
I do have some Sector Mechanicus done, it's just finding the time to do a video at the moment as work has piled up! I'm hoping around xmas time, sorry if that's a bit late!
Black Sails Studio not with my backlog. You could release it in xmas 2025 and it would still probably be cool 😂😂😂
I agree. The method in this video is simple, fairly inexpensive and looks fantastic. I'm sort of mad at myself for already building my set with a different scheme.
@@gooner6446 Well... I still haven't done the video! But I made a new workbench so I have much more space, so it'll be soon!
Well... I've painted the terrain, I just need some time to take some good photos and edit the footage together!
Holy Terra!
The machine I run at my factory is literally that same blue/green...
This looks awesome! And simple enough that even I could do it. Question, at the end you show more mechanicus terrain, including the walkways / flooring. How did you paint the walkways?
Thanks!
All the terrain is done the same method as in the video. The trick is to be messy and random so it looks old and damaged ;)
Thanks this is great, is it just the same steps for the walkways and supports?
Yep and the promethium pipes and chimneys etc :)
@@blacksailsstudio9238 prefect, thanks for replying
Nice work! Like the oxidized look of copper on the dome, just curious, is that real fog at the end or how did you get that look?
Thanks for checking it out!
It's a super secret industry special effect.... vape from an e-cigarette ;)
@@blacksailsstudio9238 Just curiousm thought it might be a Fog Monster fog machine :) We have a lot of game builders using it for their photography.
For the algorithm!
Do you think Macragge blue would work instead of the Waagh Flesh? Or would that take away from space marines?
Oh whatever colour you want will work great :)
I chose green because my Ad Mech are green! Obviously earthy colours won't show up as much because of the rust colour, but any colour will work really, good luck!
@@blacksailsstudio9238 Thanks for responding and posting the video. Giving it a go tonight.
Great video!
I'll be using this tutorial to paint up my alchomite stacks. Thanks again!
