The 70's = Sergio Mendes, Earth, Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, George Duke, Joe Sample, Grover Washington, Led Zeppelin, and so many more. All of the cream rose to the top. Everything after the 70's never quite reached that crazy high bar again, and never will. The love, care, creativity, risks, arrangements, supreme talent, lyrics, engineering, and the common goal to reach absolute musical perfection striving to meet the highest standards were the makeup that made this time in music so important. This is clearly no longer the case. I feel so blessed to have grown up in the 70's. I saw that perfect ice sculpture in real time
Me too - it was a golden age of music, although at the time I took it for granted. Wish I could go back!
I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to grow up with his music in my home..

I am 80 years old. There will never be music like this again. Beautiful, glorious, happy, enchanting. Love as it used to be..never to return.. glad I was there for it and didn’t miss it. Memories are made of this.
This takes me back to when I was a kid. My mom was a huge fan of Sergio Mendes. It will always remind me of her. Absolutely beautiful.
I miss this kind of music now. As an elementary kid I was already listening to Sergio Mendes & his band. Lani Hall was one of his pioneer vocalists. I love all of their songs with a samba tune.Mar 29,2021

Lani Hall of Brazil 66 is my favorite singer and they are my favorite group. But I have to say that Bonnie Bowden is equal to her.

I just wish there's live recorded video of this album. It makes you go back in time. Anyone? Wish Bonnie would perform some of her hits nowadays using today's sound engineering/technology.
Bonnie Bowden has the sweetest voice of all of Sergio Mendes female performers (Lani Hall from the '66 era was also in that league) and her duets with Gracinha Leporace were always so sharp and precise it was as she was dubbing herself. Got to love Bonnie's voice!
Lani Hall still rules the vocal of bossa nova.
I just discovered Sergio Mendes a few years ago. My only regret is not finding him sooner,. The Waters of March may be the best blend of harmonies and vocals these ears have ever heard.
I was on to them when they first came out. Started a lifelong love of Portuguese and Brazilian music.
This is the best Sergio Mendes album ever......! The vocal arrangements, Dave Grusin's orchestral magic, are entwined with "deep in your pocket" samba and bossa grooves! Well done, Sergio.!

I discovered the beautiful sound of Sergio Mendes and 66 as a high school kid in the 1960s. I was smittened by music I heard before.
Many artists of that era shaped by love for music. I often got lost in the many sweet interludes heard. I sought comfort by listening to Sergio Mendes and others. I became a musician as a result. As I listen now, those days I yet recall as if it was just yesterday once again. I never tire of this beautiful music which sends me floating beyond the stratosphere. Love you Sergio and the beauty voice of Lani! ❤

The studio recordings are great but, I really like you and Gracinha on live performance videos. One of the best things I like about Bossa Nova/Brazilian music is the improvisation. Some of the most magical music performances are live.
Sergio Mendes creates a mood by interweaving the best pieces of many accompanists & voices. He is a Master of Editing. He is like The Wizard of Oz, hiding behind his piano & weaving a special kind of magic! Obrigado, Paula Stone

Se perguntar a essa juventude quem é o grande músico e compositor brasileiro Sergio Mendes, poucos saberão quem é , infelizmente. Eu tenho orgulho de ser Brasileiro quando vejo esses talentos sendo reconhecidos lá fora.
This is a beautiful album. I have always enjoyed Sergio Mendes from the first album onward. The best being Primal Roots. This was another of my favourite albums ever.

Lo curioso es que él es más conocido fuera de su propio pais, Mas esto no le quita merito a su gran calidad, creatividad y genialidad musical. When I was a very young musician I heard this music in an 8 Track version. My sister had it with others in her room and since this time I followed Sergio Mendez and other Brazilians musicians and composer as Antonio Carlos Jobin. Is a wonderful music.

Hola hace mucho en el canal 4 había un programa llamado "Imágenes de nuestro mundo" y su tema era el de Promesa de pescador, posteriormente lo cambiaron por After sunrise. Después salió un sencillo de 45 rpm Celebración al Amanecer creo que esté es uno de mis favoritos. Un tío me regaló el Foursider y ya de ahí me enganché con su música. Hay algunos temas que ha remasterizado y no me han gustado. Sergio Mendes sigue siendo mi # 1.
