I'm American, but isn't the rule to allow AT LEAST the allotted extra time minutes? It's the referee's discretion to decide when to blow the whistle after extra time has expired.
adub4ever The referee stopped his watch on the penalty because Derby was calling themselves killing the clock by bitching and moaning. Then what made it worse is that they were slowly moving away from the box to set up the PK. That's where the extra time came from.
It is odd listening to the commenary (well... perhaps not as it's from Radio Derby!) that they questioned where the extra 2 minutes came from. The penalty was given at 1:22 on the video and the match restarted at 3:07. That's nearly 2 minutes right there and that's not taking into account the time the ball was out of play for corners and throwins etc!

Well they didnt know that the REFF WAS GOING TO PLAY ANOTHER 5 MINS. WHEN YOU SCORED THE PENO THERE WERE 10 SECS LEFT OF THE ADDED 3 .
It's a minimum of 3 minutes you muppet, technically all the time he added to it added up...
Fin Edge The penalty took two minutes to take plus the time to get the game restarted mostly because of the Derby players time wasting. This plus the woeful mistake by the Derby player easily surrendering possession on the far touch cost your lot the game grow up Derby three it away. Thanx, BTW!!

It's a MINIMUM of 3 minutes for a start. Had the Derby players not kicked off at the penalty then delayed the kick-off then no more time would've been added on. All I can say to that commentator is GET IT RIGHT UP YER! KRO

Er - from the 2 minutes it took to take the penalty. Also the delays for the free kick. You'd think professional commentators would understand the laws of the game.

A penalty doesn't add time on, any more than a free kick does.
Pete Owen The game was stopped for 2 minutes total, which would bring it up to 5 mins added on. Then the free-kick would add about 30 seconds on. So actually, the referee was 100% correct.
Derby was too busy protesting the foul and playing time wasting games for 2 minutes. The Fourth official can alert the head ref of that more time.

How many fans do you hear singing at 2-0 down going into injury time? We were also singing KRO when we looked relegated at Bolton, then scored twice in last ten minutes to stay up.

The commentators don't seem to realise that most of that extra stoppage time would have come from the delay in taking the penalty and then in restarting the game. Granted there was probably an extra 30 seconds taking that into account, but it is a MINIMUM amount of stoppage time, and quite simply you play to the whistle! "2-0 and you fkd it up"!!! KRO

What the ref adds on at the end is always the minimum. And despite their league position Derby have proved they have no bottle e.g Play-Off final last year, against Forest earlier this season & against the mighty Blues who always fight til the end. Derby fans have no bottle either. Anyone recall their most famous fan Mick Philpotts crying like a bitch at that press-conference. KRO

That's thirty seconds of stoppage time. 1:24, penalty is awarded, 3:06 they kick off, that 1 minute and 40 seconds. about 1 minute of that was the referee waiting for Derby players to get out of the area.4:07 a Derrby player kicks the ball away when a free kick is given, 4:41 free kick is taken, that's another 34 secons. That's a total of 2 minutes and 44 seconds of stoppage, mostly due to time wasting. The corner is awarded at 4:50. So there was actually only 2 mintues of time played from the start of this video to the corner given that lead to the second goal.

To repeat. A penalty kick is not a stoppage, any more than a free kick where the ref marches the players back 10 yards and now sprays foam.
If he thinks time is being wasted , yes he may add time. That ref has a history of winding players and fans up and being escorted from the pitch. Look him up.

I must say though the 10 goals may be the deciding factor we go up! at the moment we are 8 above everyone else on goals and 2nd in the table with almost every referee decision against us in the last 7 games! at least your safe now and not in the same position you were back then and are a lot stronger just need a new season now
