    In WW2 there were paratroopers that used smaller bikes. Also there are many modification parts available, so you could beef up the suspension if you wanted to. Fun project.

    Thanks for the interesting video! I recently bought myself a new Honda Zoomer, it was also with zero mileage, only made for the Japanese market and it is injection. I also like to drive on muddy forest roads, and I had problems with the rear wheel. There was dirt under the rear wing and the wheel was almost not spinning. I had to dig out this dirt with a stick for a long time. After this incident, I bought a rear oil shock absorber in Japan and at the same time put forward oil shock absorbers too. The scooter became taller and began to drive better on an uneven road. In general, I really like this scooter. It is reliable, it has liquid cooling and low gasoline consumption. One thing worries me when driving on a rocky road is a low-lying gas tank. It can be crushed against a root or a stone.

    • @outdoorsonthecheap
      @outdoorsonthecheap  Před 2 lety +3

      You'rr right about the gas tank issue - I've had mine bottom out a couple times - you have to very carful for sure. ASlso - good idea about using the shock absorbers to risie it up a bit- I've been thinking about that myself

    Two questions please. #1 What is the name or the make of your padded vest?
    #2 How do you transport or carry your Ruckus to your riding spot, on a trailer? Do you have a video showing that? Great video and great incentive to buy one.

      I can't remember what the brand of the padded vest. I got it on amazon. I searched my history and can't find it sorry man. I carry it behind my subaru using a motorbike rack. The one I have carries up to 500lbs, though I think the ruckus is closer to 300lb. It requires a 2" hitch - which mean you need a vehicle that can accommodate a 2" hitch (which excludes most small cars).

    Excellent video. I’m looking to purchase one but wasn’t sure how well it would do off road. Looks like it does very well. So how about gas? I’m about your weight and I’ve noticed this does not have a gas meter. With all that terrain were you ever close to emptying the tank heading back? Or you still had a good amount of gas left?

    • @outdoorsonthecheap
      @outdoorsonthecheap  Před 2 lety +2

      I find the lack of a gas meter irritating. The trick is to just fill it up every time - or bring along a small fuel container as back up. The range of a full tank is 148 miles (238 km) - so as long as you are within that you are good. There's nowhere I take it off road where I cover any sort of distance like that :)
