Completely agree, as a teen I just love them, even their newer stuff is so good, while the tracks like we'll burn the sky and sails of charon of 70s are still so cool to me. Also absolutely love Matthias Jabs, his work is so underrated.

When I was in high school (mid-to-late 80's), believe it or not, they actually had Scorpions band posters on the walls of the school hallways, promoting something like stay in school or don't do drugs. The fact that they cared enough to do a campaign for school kids was pretty cool in my book.

Fuck! How I love Big city nights and whole album.
"I'm leavin You" is a great song from that album too.
    Pdta. Blackout sounds like metal?
Well both albums (Blackout 1982 and Love at first Sting 1984) are heavy metal.
They did hard rock in 70s and after this two albums they return to hard rock.

ahh the 80s. back when metal was fun! these are their 2 biggest albums. you can definitely listen to every song on both. i think their biggest song was Wind of Change. they had a different lead guitar in the 70s you have to hear him (Uli Jon Roth) but he quit and they got Mathias Jabs who was perfect for making them huge in the 80s. Saw them at The US Festival '83 and they stole the whole damn day.

popular songs and got heavy radio play plus they are always in the concert rotation, the band plays these
2 songs a lot. I went to several of their concerts in the 80's and 90's and met the whole band once too.

Blackout (1980) and LoveDrive (1979) we're absolutely their their 2 best albums altho Love At First Sting (1984) was by far their biggest selling album. I saw them on that tour with 67,000 others outdoors in Phoenix, Az. Labor Day weekend. Aerosmith opened. My sister found a Polaroid camera on the ground. I snatched it out of her hand and took off for the front. I got separated from my sister and my girlfriend, tripping on acid. I didn't see them till the Scorpions we're doing their Encore, and the crowd in front of me parted and my sister fell on the ground right in front of me. Unbelievable show. I cried through Holiday. It was so loud and crystal clear and note perfect to the album. It was amazing. Should have seen the crowd go nuts when they played Arizona. Man, what fun times.

    @sumonjamal1653 Pƙed 2 lety

The Scorpions arrived in N. America at the cusp of rock music returning in full force and breaking big on radio, just as disco was starting to wane... When MTV became a promotional juggernaut, the Scorpions rode that wave too... Commercially, they were outselling Iron Maiden and Judas Priest by 1984 as 'Love at first sting' would sell 3 million copies in the US, mainly because girls loved the band's ballads ("Holiday"... 'Still loving you' ... 'When the smoke is going down').
The primary reason the Scorpions were so good live was because they spent a lot of years on tour in the 70's, before they broke big in the 80's... Klaus & Rudolf Schenker (guitar) were the only original members, but the 1980 line-up had Francis Buccholz (bass) since 1974... Herman Rarebell (drums) since 1978... and Matthias Jabs (lead guitar) since 1979... the Scorpions played 181 shows between 1984 to 1986 on the 'Love at first sting tour'... They were truly exhausted and took a year off, and it took another year before a new album 'Savage amusement' was released in 1988... the producer Dieter Dierks wanted it to be as big as Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' album, but that didn't happen (it sold platinum). But it was the 1990 album 'Crazy world' that sold 2x platinum on the strength of the ballad 'Wind of change'.
Unfortunately, the 90's came in, and the Scorpions became 'uncool' in the grunge era... longtime bassist Francis Buccholz left the band, bassist Ralph Rieckerman joined... their 1993 album 'Face the heat' failed to reach gold sales... longtime drummer Francis Buccholz left the band after the 1995 live album 'Live bites'... Scorpions' 1996 album 'Pure instinct' was another commercial failure - critics complained it had too many ballads. A session drummer played on the record, then drummer James Kottak joined the band.
In 1999, the Scorpions tried to 'modernize' their sound using electronic beats and that album 'Eye II eye' was a disappointment... Clearly, fans did not want an industrial version of Scorpions... The band's fortunes did rise again w/ the next 3 records returning to hard rock - 'Unbreakable' (2004)... 'Humanity: Hour 1' (2007) ... and 'Sting of the tail' (2010).

But his younger brother, Michael, who taught Rudy how to play, started Scorpions in 1965 with him and plays lead. He left the band after one year and joined UFO. He is hands down, the most influencial guitar player in heavy rock. He never got the uber fame his brother did, but he is the GOAT. So many bands would not exist without him. Metallica's guitar player Kirk Hammett heard Michael's lead on the song Mother Mary and went out and got a guitar and started playing. Def Leppard's singer said in an interview that they saw UFO when they were nobody and saw Michael and said, "Are we doing this or what?" Iron Maiden opens every concert with UFO's Doctor Doctor because it's Maiden's favorite guitar player. When Randy Roads died, Ozzy called Michael to offer him the gig but Michael didn't want to play other people's music. He wanted to create. He is your guitar hero's hero that the general masses don't seem to know about. Sorry so long but please check out a UFO song with Michael in his prime in 1979 playing the live Hot and Ready or any song really off that live album. The dude is just on fire. czcams.com/video/b6lHWuSVUYU/video.html

Scorpions are my favorite band. I can suggest so many songs by them. I’m gonna see them in concert in a couple of weeks. Klaus still sounds incredible at 74 yrs old.

One of my favorite bands. We saw them in the late 80s at Blossom Music Center (near Cleveland). It was an outdoor amphitheater with a roof over part and then sloped hillside for the rest. We were 20 rows back from the stage and the music was so loud that it moved your clothing, moved your hair. They sound live exactly like the studio recordings.

Blackout and world wide live are my two favorite albums by anyone. Forced on me by my older brother in college at the time, I would soon listen to them on my own over and over. Hey I was in elementary school, not much else to do, ha.
I dont know if they are really the best albums in rock but circumstances plus their quality make them mine.

So many good songs from the Scorpions. Here are a few other albums that you can't go wrong with: Intrance, Animal Magnetism, Lovedrive, Worldwide Live, Savage Amusement, and Crazy World. I can't count the number of times I saw this band and they were always amazing . This will be an awesome journey for you to dive into.

My favorite song on Blackout is the song Dynamite. It might be my favorite scorpions song overall. Totally bad ass rocker like Blackout. Another great one is Another Piece of Meat from Lovedrive. Some others are Make It Real and Don’t Make No Promises (Your Body Can’t Keep) from Animal Magnetism.
And Check out Y&T. They fit exactly in that same vibe from that era and are a tight, great olaying band.

Hey T . I saw them on the Love at First Sting Tour in 80's. I think Y&T opened for them.đŸ€” I really like the song The Zoo and Big City Nights. The Zoo is not a fast song like blackout but it's so cool. You need to hear it and react to it. I think rock you like a hurricane was the biggest hit maybe for them in US. They also had Tease Me Please Me but I don't think it was a big hit. Thanks for all you do. It takes me back. 😊👍

Don't sell yourself short by listening to only arena rock Scorps. Listen to the early releases with one of rocks greatest guitarists side by side with Klaus. Fly To The Rainbow, In Trance, Virgin Killer and the album most fans back then considered their Magnum Opus. Taken By Force. Music for music's sake, not to obtain radio play.

Way back in the day, I was cruising around listening to this and I hear my young daughter in the back seat singing her little heart out "Pig city, pig city nights!"
Blackout is one of my favorite albums - I would LOVE to hear you do the whole thing and then go back even farther and check out the Lovedrive album
