I saw a funny comment under a post about the decline of Overwatch: “If they touched their games half as much as they touched their women, we’d be getting consistent quality updates”
I've literally been raised on world of warcraft and have played since i was 3 during wrath of the lich king. It makes me so sad to see blizzard end up the way it has. Its like routing for a sports team only for them to lose 0 - 999
I call it the Valve Complex. Once a company realizes that people will still give them money despite lack of quality content, there’s no reason for quality content to be made. Just look at TF2, and now Overwatch.
For anyone who watched this and wondered, "where are the good game, wholesome games/studios?" -Dice/Battlefield 2042 (Non greedy bp system, constantly updated and reworked game despite initial struggle until it became a masterpiece) Ghost Ship Games/Deep Rock Galactic - no monetization except for a seasonal pack of skins, theres an entirely free battlepass that doesnt have FOMO attached since everything is added to a loot pool later. HiRez/Rogue Company - the game is slowing down now, but had the same mechanic of bp rewarding you with another free one if completion, constant updates that werent afraid to experiment, constantly taking feedback from community. Perfect World/Remnant Series- Although From the Ashes is a little older (theres a sequel coming soon) Game is amazing, The devs are a blast, no monetization except for some low-price dlc packed with content. Anyone know any others?
Coffee Stain are the publisher of Deep Rock Galactic, Ghost Ship Games are devs that made the game and keeping updated for the community BF2042 is just joke for BP system, you pay full price of the game and now they want you to pay extra for “cool” cosmetics skins, if they did same BP system like Deep Rock Galactic, it can be a good success
I’m happy that you finally talked about this, it is a big issue in modern gaming that quality is taking a dive. I hope you do well macro and still do fun things.
So sad for overwatch players, as a TF2 player(both titanfall 2 and team fortress 2) I at least know that I won't be getting updates. Well Valve does keep up the act of "we didn't say tf2 won't be getting updates" but at least we aren't waiting for something this big. F for all the overwatch players.
that's why indie games and indie developers are better than many AAA companies, there is so much more passion put into indie games and they feel like they were made to be an actually good game rather than just a cash grab
No its why gamers are the worse. You know it as well as I that most of the motherfuckers complaining will not hold Blizz accountable. Gamers are the reason why the game industry is so shit.
Even if Indie games have problems, they are still better than major game companies. I don't care whatever the bootlickers of AAA game conpanies say. My opinion stands true
The only difference is that some style of games are pretry much impossible to do/maintain without a big number of employees. MOBAs or Heroe shooters are really hard to do and keep alive for a small team
I dont understand why people just play shooters and mobas, theres a whole market with diferent genres filled with good games that come out every year, but these people just stick to shooters
I couldn’t agree any more. So many indie games like Pizza Tower and Stardew Valley are endless amounts of fun because they don’t stupidly charge any money for in game microtransactions. It’s one fee to download the game and THATS it. In fact, potato PCs can run most indie games really well compared to AAA games
Elden Ring didn't shift the industry, Why should ToTK. These humungously successful Games that show that taking your time will reward you with record breaking sales on launch Still don't make the money that a game Like Fortnite did in its prime. Every game company like Activision Blizzard don't care about making a single player game with amazing polish, They want the next fortnite.
Man this is why ghostship games is so good you buy a game (deep rock galactic) then litteraly everything in the game is free plus the cosmetic packs that you could buy if you want are realy high quality and the weapon cosmetic packs give you frameworks for all existing and future weapons that would come out in the future
StarCraft never did anything wrong. I would say that for the stages I played in, even when they made the game free to play they introduced the funnest and best game mode to date (even if it was uncanonised) and the new monetisation strategy was optional hero purchases which weren’t a “need buy to be good” since they gave plenty of free and viable options, AND they even let you try out a hero before you buy them. What I’m trying to say is, play StarCraft 2. Incredible game with a very high skill ceiling, very very fun.
I feel like this should be actually a crime. Like games can't be sold in a country if it has certain amount of glitches and unfinished stuff it can't be sold there.
Thank you for sharing a sentiment I've been holding onto for years. I've only gotten into Blizzard's games 7 years ago and I became a fan instantly. Overwatch's release made me die-hard for it and that was the case until the content drought started. I wholeheartedly blame Activision for Blizzard's downfall and I really hope that they detach because their quality of games were second to none for a AAA game company (and it's really sad to say that given the state of mainstream gaming nowadays).
You guys should read Bobby Kotic’s interview article, it’s soooo bad. Basically the idiot calls everyone accusing his company of wrongdoing delusional and says they’re conspiring against him while trying to paint himself as a great and stand up guy. I hope that if/when Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard that they immediately kick him out because this cannot continue.
This is what happens when a company keeps on moving forward without listening or even trying to understand the opinion of the fanbase that is keeping them popular/afloat. Riot and EA (Respawn) both have a lot of flaws, but when it comes to patching (buffing/nerfing) and adjusting their gameplay to satisfy the general consensus, they do their best to keep everyone happy

Yo bro, it would be super sick if you could try out the game 'midnight ghost hunt', me and my freinds truly believe it's a 10/10 game with a funny community, but it gets barely any notice. Good video as always
This is why I love capcom and monster hunter. They put so much effort into the games to make sure people can enjoy them even if you might not like them.
But, don't know Monster Hunter but, i'm not sure if that's a fair comparision. Overwatch and CoD are online multiplayer games. Like Fortnite or DOTA (CoD use to have a campaign that nobody plays). Those games requires a solid base of people to play with/against. So they make them free. But requires manteinance, balance, updates, their earnings come from microtransactions today. Starcraft and Diablo are Masterpieces as a "standalone/campaign" games or as a mp games.
@@pabloandrada6558 Yes and no. Monster Hunter can be played online or solo. However its sort of fair as Capcom dont lie to their customers to my knowledge.
@@mr.habits5576 so, it's like Diablo, is that ok? That's ok, i don't recall any promises made by Capcom. But I'm still not buying that "they lie!". It's a business and adult world. Those are simple promises and marketing. But we didn't preorder anything. We didn't pay for a fighting game and suddenly it becomes a racing game. If Capcom anounces "we are working on Darkstalkers" or "Megaman Universe" or "X-Men vs SF remastered" and then the project is cancelled, that's not a lie. We are using words bigger than the issue we're trying to describe.
This was addressed perfectly. Another W from a W channel. Ur absolutely right. All gaming companies and games, stuff like that, quality on everything has dropped in media, I think now that stuff has been done so many times, people seem to produce more rushed content. But there are companies like Nintendo and PlayStation that are marketing exclusive, finished games that are truly high quality in story, and make us happy to wait long for a truly successful, finished game that developers put their time and effort into because they care about the project. Tears of the Kingdom and Spider-Man 2 are 5 and 6 years after the original game, but they develop quality content that doesn't disappoint the formed loyal community. A community formed from a successful, masterpiece of content. We have been waiting for just these two games for half a decade, and everyone is still hyped for these games after seeing how much the developers have accomplished. These companies need to learn from their competition to know how to be better. This shows that when we wait as long as we need just to get something we've been waiting for, it will shatter our expectations and we will have a true fun, masterpiece of a game. Every company needs to learn to take their time on something and focus on making the experience fun for players, releasing it should be the last thing on their minds. It's better to have a finished and polished product, so everyone needs to remember QUALITY OVER QUANTITY, take a step back, and reflect on an old lesson. (Dang I really spent time writing this entire comment instead of using the time to work on my English assignment... that's kinda sad...)
Last week, I bought bo3 for the 90$ multiplayer deluxe bundle. Simply for the nostalgia of the great multiplayer experience the game HAD. All I could do for multiplayer was stare at myself waiting in empty lobbies that would never fill up. I have over an hour of playtime without playing a single thing.
My friends and I were already upset with overwatch before the announcement for multiple reasons, then the announcement killed any joy we had left with it.
THANK YOU! This is why entrepreneurs need to realize why they’re making products and, in this case, games in the first place. Sure, the goal is to gain profit from it, but how do you gain profit? By *SATISFYING* your CUSTOMERS. Not to mention that the CEO of Blizzard, Bobby Kottick recently had his interview since 2012 and basically placed ALL the blame on his EMPLOYEES. Throwing all the accusations, fall of games and absolute disappointment from the fans, all on the employees because big daddy Kottick has an “image” and a “legacy” to protect. Bs.
words cannot express how so happy I am hearing that out of all of what Blizzard has done, Starcraft has recieved the LEAST amount of negative backlash towards it, and I am very grateful for that.
We can all agree that microtransactions is the major thing that ruined modern gaming. Games these days are first built to have battle passes, and then they build the game. That’s why, like it or not, Fortnite is the one that needs to blamed the most too. Generally speaking, from Activision to The Pokémon Company, gaming industries are not treating correctly they’re consumers
Not even watched the video, but this thought came to mind upon seeing the Thumbnail Video title: “Activision Blizzard, what went wrong.” The Internet: do you have any idea how LITTLE that narrows it down?
I starting to like these video essays more and more. Don't get me wrong I love the for noobs series but I definitely want to see more of this type of content!
Damn Macro you keep saying truth that hurts 😔 I hope this all can be fixed bc I loved the Overwatch One days and COD 2 days but now they’re gone, keep grinding Macro and spread your message.🙏🙂
Blizzcon 2017 felt like Blizzard's peak. Moira announced for a regularly updated Overwatch, Hanzo and Alexstrasza for HotS, BFA and Warcraft classic announced - Blizzard was firing on all cylinders. Six years later we're playing cashgrab watch 2 which is stripped back Overwatch with no PVE and more focus on its ingame shop and battlepass than balancing, Heroes of the Storm is gone because they couldn't be bothered to sustain the game and keep improving it and WoW is trying to recover from the disaster that was Shadowlands. The worst part of all this is that Activision Blizzard are happy with their work as they've maximised their short term profits before they're acquired by Microsoft who can handle the long term for them.
ActMan actually made an interesting subject about the topic of finished games. It’s not so much they released it finished, but rather there was a time that had no ability to fix whatever problems a game had, when released. So whether a game was good or bad, developers would just move on.
I used to play wow a lot years ago starting around the lich king expansion and I played all the classes but there were two characters I stuck to and still remember 10 years later I played a bloodelf shadow priest named EvilPlankton and a troll monk
We stuck with a worse version of Overwatch, AND we can’t go back to playing the original game that gave us so many good memories. Thanks Activision Blizzard 🖕🏻
we as people can solve this problem. if we collectively as a community just stop giving them money they will have no other choice but to fix what they have caused. it is partially our fault for funding this company even after everything that has been going on
I find all this types of videos fascinating to watch because so many of us people can come to common agreements on how big companies are being horribly anti-consumer pushing horrible changes overall. However, most videos fail to dig up into the real root of the problem, which is, this companies are only hungry for money for a reason. It's not as simple as company is greedy, company is bad. Well, sometimes it is, and sure as hell Blizzard's CEO Bobby Kottick is a heck of a greedy individual, but there's usually more to the story behind the scenes. Things like the ESG and stakeholder capitalism, which is slowly but ruthlessly killing every single "big" company in the West. It's sad, and dystopian. We're living in Orwell's 1984.
Honestly…we’ve hit a new low in gaming history…we NEED new leaders who are not driven by greed but by putting smiles on everyone. But I’ve given up hope that this will change…
I hate these greedy companies to my bones, but the reason they're still doing it is because there are still people out there buying, supporting these behaviors. It baffles me how people can settle for mediocre and getting scammed out of their hard earned money.
The real upsetting part is the people defending this saying that pve is still coming but just every 3 months, it’s not even about that, it’s the fact that they new before they released overwatch2 that it wasn’t coming, and they teased us saying that they’ve been working hard on it and it has to be delayed for a year, and when the time came they just said oh btw this thing that we promised and knew was not coming, yeah we canned it, whoops sowy, here’s some free charms and an icon. Sowy
But we still love Tony Hawk

I remember a time where games used to come out finished and cool bugs that were discovered were not patched out, but made an integral part of high skill play and the use of those mechanics showed skill
I saw a funny comment under a post about the decline of Overwatch:
“If they touched their games half as much as they touched their women, we’d be getting consistent quality updates”
I've literally been raised on world of warcraft and have played since i was 3 during wrath of the lich king. It makes me so sad to see blizzard end up the way it has. Its like routing for a sports team only for them to lose 0 - 999
So like being a Browns fan.
yup i still play starcraft sometimes but its sad to see how they have fallen
“Does this mean Overwatch is back”
“No no we aren’t”
When they say money is the root of all evil this is a number 1 case study
I call it the Valve Complex. Once a company realizes that people will still give them money despite lack of quality content, there’s no reason for quality content to be made. Just look at TF2, and now Overwatch.
For anyone who watched this and wondered, "where are the good game, wholesome games/studios?"
-Dice/Battlefield 2042 (Non greedy bp system, constantly updated and reworked game despite initial struggle until it became a masterpiece)
Ghost Ship Games/Deep Rock Galactic - no monetization except for a seasonal pack of skins, theres an entirely free battlepass that doesnt have FOMO attached since everything is added to a loot pool later.
Coffee Stain are the publisher of Deep Rock Galactic, Ghost Ship Games are devs that made the game and keeping updated for the community
BF2042 is just joke for BP system, you pay full price of the game and now they want you to pay extra for “cool” cosmetics skins, if they did same BP system like Deep Rock Galactic, it can be a good success
@drovaa ohh yeah I forgot it was ghost ship games, sorry I'll fix it to give proper credit.
@@phant0mshad0w56 no problem 👍🏻
When I was a kid in the Warcraft era blizzard was like Disney to me every they put out was magic to me. I hate to see how far they’ve fallen 😢
I’m happy that you finally talked about this, it is a big issue in modern gaming that quality is taking a dive. I hope you do well macro and still do fun things.
“Game companies need to take a step back and remember why they made games” ouch, that one hurt and you’re completely right which pains me even more
So sad for overwatch players, as a TF2 player(both titanfall 2 and team fortress 2) I at least know that I won't be getting updates. Well Valve does keep up the act of "we didn't say tf2 won't be getting updates" but at least we aren't waiting for something this big. F for all the overwatch players.
2019: we're geting pve? right?
2023: ...
2019: right?
A company that all labour either left, got fired or in a lawsuit

with so many big companies caring more about money than quality zelda tears of the kingdom seems so refreshing
that's why indie games and indie developers are better than many AAA companies, there is so much more passion put into indie games and they feel like they were made to be an actually good game rather than just a cash grab
Tears of the Kingdom’s success has potential to shift the industry. Nintendo took their time and has had such huge amounts of success.
Elden Ring didn't shift the industry, Why should ToTK.
These humungously successful Games that show that taking your time will reward you with record breaking sales on launch Still don't make the money that a game Like Fortnite did in its prime.
Every game company like Activision Blizzard don't care about making a single player game with amazing polish, They want the next fortnite.
tears of the kingdom is a shitty kid game
you want to play a real Zelda game?
Try twillight princess
then come back
"Who would do that ?"
I half expected Tod Howard to show up after that
That moment when you get a notification telling you that Macro posted! 🥶🥶🐐🐐📈📈
Ever since devs announced the cancellation of…well, the 2 on OW2, I’ve been waiting to see what Macro has to say about it
I feel like this should be actually a crime. Like games can't be sold in a country if it has certain amount of glitches and unfinished stuff it can't be sold there.
Most indie games are polished but they might release in early access to get funding for the rest of the game
Yeah, but Bobby kotick is to blame
Great video! Your right video games company’s are going down hill! 😢
I can always tell you another thing that is a reason a lot of companies failed is live services. I kind of wish Macro talked about this
A tear fell at 9:20 when he said "put us in space"
You guys should read Bobby Kotic’s interview article, it’s soooo bad. Basically the idiot calls everyone accusing his company of wrongdoing delusional and says they’re conspiring against him while trying to paint himself as a great and stand up guy. I hope that if/when Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard that they immediately kick him out because this cannot continue.
He's cosplaying as Trump lmao
This is what happens when a company keeps on moving forward without listening or even trying to understand the opinion of the fanbase that is keeping them popular/afloat.
Riot and EA (Respawn) both have a lot of flaws, but when it comes to patching (buffing/nerfing) and adjusting their gameplay to satisfy the general consensus, they do their best to keep everyone happy
I remember the Christmas( around) when overwatch 2 was announced I asked for money to buy it because I love the lord of the game and I was so hyped. Fast forward I was scrolling through TikTok and found that pve was canceled. Just really hit hard 7:29
Hey macro, I found a really fun game that feels like old cod and is just fun. It’s called iron sight. It’s fast paced, fun, and you always have something to do. It’s futuristic and military themed like bo3 and old mw. Right now it’s not that popular, but I think it should be. Iron sight also has many cool skins and guns that feels great to play with. PLEASE try iron sight and make a video on it so this great game can get recognition.
Hey macro i love youre vids bro theres a chance you wont read this but if you do just wana let you know youre my favorite youtuber love your vids man keep up the good work
Ah yes, my favourite Lootbox!
Lawsuit, Lawsuit, Lawsuit, Talon Baptiste
You forgot Lawsuit
Ooh, sorry. You already have that Talon Baptiste. It got converted into coins equalling 1% of a skin. You can exchange it for a lawsuit if you'd like instead?
Yo bro, it would be super sick if you could try out the game 'midnight ghost hunt', me and my freinds truly believe it's a 10/10 game with a funny community, but it gets barely any notice. Good video as always
Can’t wait for PVE… said everyone in 2019
This is why I love capcom and monster hunter.
I just wish they hadn't reduced Megaman to what it is now. The franchise is a hollowed out husk at this point.
CAPCOM RERemakes series are a joke except RE1R but that one was on the fcking GAMECUBE and back then games were better and finished at least
I love how overwatch isn’t a new game both gameplay wise and physically it was a update to the game, changed the name and the photo into overwatch 2
I hope somewhere in the far future Blizzard will return to it's old self
LOL you can wait for EA to go broke for that to happen !
That sucks but what compelled you to spend so much money on such an old cod?
Evem thought this topic is sad its always a good day when macro uploads a new video
My friends and I were already upset with overwatch before the announcement for multiple reasons, then the announcement killed any joy we had left with it.
“Does this mean overwatch is back??”
“No.”
Macro:there was a time where games did not come incomplete
Me an Indie player:BITCH WHERE!?
I like how he says that they "Can't do it" and then loop right back around to "Its not in our plans anymore". Translation. "We don't feel like it."
No company in any industry is going to go back for morality. Disney as a prime example
Its funny how worst part for it is, i bought the game full price not knowing next week is 70%sale and i dont even know theres a refund option
Bs.
Really this video brought so much nostalgia and pain at the same time
words cannot express how so happy I am hearing that out of all of what Blizzard has done, Starcraft has recieved the LEAST amount of negative backlash towards it, and I am very grateful for that.
Everybody remembers World of Warcraft, but nobody remembers Warcraft 1, 2, or 3 😢
Not even watched the video, but this thought came to mind upon seeing the Thumbnail
Video title: “Activision Blizzard, what went wrong.”
The Internet: do you have any idea how LITTLE that narrows it down?
It’s about the root of all evil… money. Games used to be a way to deliver a experience to an audience now it’s just about money.
I waited 2 weeks, thank you .please be this consistent and ill subscribe in 50 different accounts
I starting to like these video essays more and more. Don't get me wrong I love the for noobs series but I definitely want to see more of this type of content!
Funny thing, when the video reached 4:04, my resolution dropped from 1080p to 144p, and it synced so well with Macro saying "wait what happened" 😅😅
Damn Macro you keep saying truth that hurts 😔 I hope this all can be fixed bc I loved the Overwatch One days and COD 2 days but now they’re gone, keep grinding Macro and spread your message.🙏🙂
It's a banger of a day when macro uploads on your BIRTHDAY, thanks Homes 🗿🍷
the fact that we have to pay 60$ for a 8 year old game baffles
i am with you in every word you said
can you make a video on bungi and the destiny 2 / marathon drama ?
These type of videos are really nice recently 👌🏼💕
I used to play wow a lot years ago starting around the lich king expansion and I played all the classes but there were two characters I stuck to and still remember 10 years later I played a bloodelf shadow priest named EvilPlankton and a troll monk
We stuck with a worse version of Overwatch, AND we can’t go back to playing the original game that gave us so many good memories.
Thanks Activision Blizzard 🖕🏻
I prefer 5v5 but yeah, everything else sucks dick
your outro is that "Bone Theme" from the boneworks OST?
we as people can solve this problem. if we collectively as a community just stop giving them money they will have no other choice but to fix what they have caused. it is partially our fault for funding this company even after everything that has been going on
I find all this types of videos fascinating to watch because so many of us people can come to common agreements on how big companies are being horribly anti-consumer pushing horrible changes overall. We're living in Orwell's 1984.
the ben 10 reference was gold
Honestly…we’ve hit a new low in gaming history…we NEED new leaders who are not driven by greed but by putting smiles on everyone. But I’ve given up hope that this will change…
It really is sad what happend to overwatch; they "worked" for 3 years for a microtransaction update.
Im kind of dissappointed that HotS and WC3 Reforged weren't eben mentioned, but still, good video!
Watch Activision Blizzard try to take this video down
The first overwatch 2 trailer almost brought me to tears when it came out. it still does but for much much deeper reasons.
It felt like we’ve been scammed. We gave them a lot and didn’t care for us at all.
I hate these greedy companies to my bones, but the reason they're still doing it is because there are still people out there buying, supporting these behaviors. It baffles me how people can settle for mediocre and getting scammed out of their hard earned money.
R.I.P Activision. If they don't do something soon their legacy is going to be ruined for future generations of gamers.
Sowy
It can all be boiled down to battlepasses being in the game and it sucks that this monetization exists at all.
Let's just hope that it will someday come under new management. Their IPs and the devs deserve more.
Thank you for making this video. Now I can simply send it to everyone that asks me why I hate Activision Blizzard.
You know its bad when macro posts a serious vid
