How you put on a Talit is done in different ways depending on the custom of your family. When I put on my Talit I put it on my shoulder unwrapped say the blessing, kiss the tzis, then unwrap it, put it over my head, cross my hands with a ends over my head, uncross my hands and lay it on my shoulders. I hope I explained this so it makes sense.
Doesn't the phrase "Beth El Emeth" or Beit El Emet literally mean "House of God's Truth"? Because that is a wonderful name for a Congregation of the LORD. This is very uplifting, I enjoyed my morning as a result.
Thanks. Yes, it was a break away in 1862 from another congregation and it didn't like the direction it was taking so they called themselves the house of the TRUE G-d as opposed to the other cong! Not so PC, but yes it is a great name! Thanks!
Hi, I asked a rabbi friend of mine if it's ok or if one should wear a tallit, he said you can just in your privet prayer time, I do wear a tallit during church services but not at a synagogue because it would be confusing and some people would get offended.
it's probably one of those mornings that are meant to Mark a Jew as a Jew and so not for gentiles but there is a theory that a gentile can pretty much do any mitzvah and get some credit. At our shul and most shuls gentiles don't wear talit.
Appreciate the Tekhelet!

Muslims also used to wear as shawl a self-warming in winter.
Small note: Unmarried men do not lay tallith.

No as it is an order from Hashem to Jews to remember the 613 commandment (Mitzvot)

I don't know who your rabbi is but all Jews wear tallit and tefillin during prayer services in synagogue not just in private
