This video is the second in a series regarding 'Bugging-In' or 'Sheltering-in-Place.' Explained is the organizational philosophy and construction of a 'Overhead Storage Loft/Sleeping Quarters.' Enjoy! --GM
I am blown away every time i watch your videos because of how detailed you are, and how you are able to very clearly and succinctly make me understand. Well done, sir.
Great video, with such clear and simple instructions even I could build a loft like this. Definitely a consideration when we build our house. Thank you!
Very neat project! I really wish my wife was as on board as yours is. Clearly she supports your mindset. My wife just thinks everything will be fine... Very frustrating. Thanks for these well thought out videos.
I really like the layout. Definitely love the cot idea and the "bunker room" idea. I think in my own home I would separate the project maintenance and the bunker room, unless there is a specific reason you put the two together. Thanks for the videos, very informative.
You said it "organization is great, but the maximum utilization of space is even better"! I sound like a broken record, but I want to keep commending you for the time & effort that you put into every video. Great work!
I have had a cabelas outfitter xl cot for about 6 years now. I love it. Im a big guy and it's very comfortable. Looking forward to your nest segment. Many blessings, happy 4th of July and Be safe out there!!!
Your video was my MAIN reference while I was splitting my hallway in two - due to high ceilings & cold winters... thanks so much!! Much love from Montreal!! :)
What a great video! Right to the point, diagrams, tips, whole layout plan, excellent!!! I want to build a loft and was clueless till I saw your video. Many thanks!!
Believe it or not, I used Shoe Goop. And it has worked wonderfully as a matter of fact. Almost 3 years now with lots of occasional bumps and slams against the center support; through all that it has remained solid as ever. Go Shoe Goop! The best removable survival glue, IMHO! Many blessings and good luck --GM
Outstanding option! Thanks for your suggestion. Thus far, it hasn't really been much of an issue, however. Thanks for watching and many blessings, brother --GM
I've been watching your videos all day and I wanted to say thank you for the information and ideas. I kept think throught the video how in a worst case scenerio stuation, since you made the loft so sturdy to begin with it could be used as a spare bunk in inself. Take a futon matress or sew a mattress together that could fit the space and you have room for three instead of two.Great ideas, and simple enough most people could build. Blessed be comrade. ~Craig
@lkcheat : Thanks for your kind comments, brother! All skill sets -- whether military or academic-based -- at one time 'blended' together for me. Thanks for watching, my friend --GM
@sfmetalerik: Thanks for your comment! That video is the only thing that survives of that 'era' in my life -- I still do have the compiled notes, though. Many blessings --GM
@vomitinyourface: Awesome, my friend! Great work - and I'm honored to have been a small part of your preparedness project! Many blessings, and keep up the fantastic work --GM
wow- it must be nice to have a mcgyver type compound at your own place. i guess prepping for your phd really helps in organizing these excellent videos. i look foward to many more from you - great job!
@USNERDOC: Many thanks, Doc! I LOVED your videos on the Nutnfancy All-Star Shootout! Great stuff, and I'm very glad you all had such a great time -- which is what it's all about! Many blessings --GM
@survivalizer; Great idea! As I've always said, these are just suggestive options and you can obviously tailor these ideas to your own liking/needs. Would love to see the finished product, my friend! Thanks for watching --GM
@8digitPDX: Thanks again for your insightful comments. I'm actually quite happy with the layout here. But I'm happy to forward this recommendation to others for their project considerations. --GM
Another great video. I like the loft idea - definitely something that I will consider when we get our 'final house". Thanks for the video = very professional & informative. Your like the "Martha Stewart" of tactical prep. ;) Keep up the good work.
@Mrcaffinebean: Yes -- I just gave that some consideration the other day -- if we needed to, the loft can double as extra sleeping quarters as well. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned! --GM
LOL! Sometimes I do pass out (just kidding). I actually keep detailed bullet points as I read, and expand on certain concepts whenever necessary. Regarding team members, I have friends and fellow devotees of the craft who visit and train here often. There's always a place for them to stay for free. Many blessings, my friend --GM
Might want to just go ahead and do folding bunks, hinged on the wall and folding up to the side, then move the cots over to the bugout trailer. Folding bunks give back floor space when they are not being used and probably cost less than the cots. You can probably find some old single wide bedframes from hide-a-beds and weld them rigid then attach one side to the wall on hinges. Another option is wall brackets and legs which allow you to fold the frames up small and attach them to the wall
RThanx alot for a brilliant selfhelping vid with some very speedy comment, the it should be to get things dione, and done fast, thanx alot, real apreciated, jaq
@SafeArmsReview: Love you channel, brother! Also -- love the Martha Stewart analogy -- wait till you see me bake a Butterscotch Cake (which seconds as a flotation device)! ;) Many blessings --GM
@oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo I have the same problem with my wife, makes it very difficult to make any major preparations. I guess you do what you can and choose your battles carefully.
You referred to visiting team members, what does that mean? I'm amazed how in depth you go with your videos, do you ever pass out from talking so fast? Just kidding, but seriously I could never speak as fast without mucking it up, what's your secret? Is it all from that timeline presentation?
Would love to, my friend. So little time, these days. I trust and pray that the little that I have posted on this site would bless you and help you on your path. Thanks for your support and many blessings --GM
Dude, you're the man!!! Can't get enough of your videos.
