- My Proxxon hot wire foam cutter is one of my favorite tools for making perfectly square cuts in extruded foam, or XPS. A much talked about shortcoming of the Proxxon is its miter fence. I find it has a bit too much play in it when cutting larger pieces of foam.
I've seen a few commercial and a few DIY solutions out there, and the one I've gone for in this video is from a US company located in Tennessee called GameCraft Miniatures. Priced very reasonably, nicely designed and laser cut and very simple to put together, I definitely recommend this tool if you have a Proxxon hot wire cutter.

Back again for this next section. Both the videos are very informative, showing the assembly of the Proxxon was perfect. Thank you, and nicer music lol.
Thanks for watching these videos, glad you like them! Music for these is always a question for me... should I add it or leave it out :)
@@Raildig I prefer with having hearing loss to watch this type of video with out music . Leaning about the item is the important part .
@@tomatoes3 Thanks for letting me know, appreciate that. I'll still likely add a bit of music at the beginning and end of the videos but will take your input here, again thanks for this! John
@@Raildig that's a good idea John . John in the UK 🇬🇧
Great video
Thanks Allen!
Heck haha, the fence is so close you could have even sanded it a teeny bit! Pretty neat. The tape workign is surprising! Pretty neat!
This fence has help up nicely over the past year too. No real warping even though it's not in a climate controlled room. This fence was a great purchase!
@@Raildig Just bought my proxxon for battletech maps and maybe makign some buildings from my game! Looking forwad to it all haha
great video and thanks for the heads up for the company. I went right away and ordered a circle jig and a brush and paint stand but unfortunately they were out of stock of the guide rail.
I had talked to them about this jig... wasn't even aware they had made it, just ordered mine! They were out of stock on the guide rail? That's strange as I would have thought it would all come complete.
@@Raildig On his website but available on his etsy page I have just spoken with him, very nice guy and by far the best price around!
@@3Dprint4you Not sure what I'll get then as I ordered through their website, we'll see soon enough. I remember talking with him back in September about this tool and I'm just glad it's now available.
To all that may be getting one.. I got mine today, make sure you put the guide on correct side. I almost glued it with guide on opposite side, and would have been pain to re do.. Also mine does not hit the arm.. They may have shortened it a bit.
Good tips, thank you! On kits like this, always a great idea to dry-fit as much as you can prior to gluing. If I had a dollar for evertyime I had to take something apart because I put it together backwards or upside down, etc... LOL. Good to hear too if they did shorten it a bit to fit under the arm.
It’s a good thing to check for square, however, that’s kind of what the gussets are for…. just a thought
I find there's always a bit of wiggle in something like MDF, even well cut. I like double checking with a know accurate square as well to make sure.
