I have seen, I think, the majority of you tenkara fishing videos, and I have learned a lot. I've enjoyed every single minute of them all. Absolutely fabulous job. Keep em coming 😊

Classic tenkara addict effort--non-stop catch and release on a small stream.

It's so redeeming when we have days like that where you just lose count after a while! Just had one like that a couple days ago fishing for cutthroat in a small creek. I'd fished quite a few other parts of the creek and other tributaries previously, but pretty much got skunked each time. Finally found a productive section and it felt so great after more than a half dozen outings with nothing to show for it other than a few fish that got off the hook and covered in black fly bites. I suppose those days are the ones that keep us coming back even though the rougher outings can sometimes be pretty discouraging!

Looks like maybe up near South Pass area, if so i used to see Moose around there fairly often when I lived in Rock Springs, beautiful county. wife and I both finally have Covid but are recovering and still hope to make the trip to Southwestern Wyoming around the middle of September!

As you were pushing through the brush, I imagined you coming face to face with a bear. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen!

  • @tenkaraintheiowadriftless

Nice feeding frenzy! Make one wonder what it was that finally flipped the switch from no interest to practically coming out of the water for your fly. Looked like the sort of tight, wooly creek that's right in your wheel house. Thanks Tristan!

Hey Tristian! I’ve been going out fly fishing with my dad recently and have been having a blast. I noticed in some of your videos you have a snap-on neck drape and I was hoping you could provide some information on where you got it or where I could get one! Many thanks and love your content❤

It was really a shame that you had to spend 20 minutes standing still unhooking fish from your fly. What a fun day, half scenery and half flurry. Until next time Tristan. Video was beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, what a great day of fishing. I’ve been following your videos for a while and really enjoy them. I am a traditional fly fisherman and have found myself fascinated by tenkara. What I have found interesting is your fly selection. It seems ike you just select a random fly while most fly fisherman is always trying to match the hatch. I’ll usually check the water and I can usually tell what types of bugs live there. Your’s however just seems to be a random fly selection.
I am an avid softhackle fisherman i’ve noticed that tenkara flies look like softhackles with the hackles wrapped backwards. Can you fish tenkara flies like softhackles?

Thank you for the beautiful video and good to hear you got some rest and are back at the creek! Inspired mostly by your videos, I started to fish tenkara this spring and caught my first browns, graylings and European chubs. Since you must have loads of experience it would be awesome, if you could do a video your technique. Do you fish dead drifts or put some action to the fly? Do you rely on feeling the bites or observe your line? Got some tips on casting? Anything that helps us catch more fish on the tenkara rod would be really appreciated.
Thank you & best regards from Frankfurt, Germany

Glad you are back Tristan. Look forward to these fortnight videos. Fantastic day on the creek with fish after fish. One question though: "Do use tapered lines or level line and what material do you use: nylon or twisted?" Thanks and keep the videos coming.

Using the RHODO cool! I gotta say, for the fishing I do, I LOVE the RHODO. It's become my go to rod in most circumstances. A close second is the SATO. My local flyshop carries Tenkara USA products. I guess I'm partial to them.

Love watching these videos. Somehow YT algorithm popped one of your videos in. Grew up in southeast Idaho, live in Utah (SLC) and want to learn. Your videos have been super informative (currently binge-watching) Any recommendations for someone in Salt Lake area that teaches? Spent 2 years as a missionary in Japan and really drawn to this style of fishing.

Remember when fishing beaver ponds, never put your hands to your mouth and cleanse them when done, they are giardia pits, I've had it you don't want it.
