    Jitsi has been such a welcome addition to the ecosystem. The ability to self-host makes it an obvious pick for me. Not to mention the great support in something like Element (a Matrix client).

    Well done ! I appreciate that you demonstrated an actual meeting! Knowledge of the software a bit low, but I know nothing of it and am wanting to move from Zoom because of the security issues and my involvement with China. (no privacy in China and they host the servers). Zoom has also been thoughtless about user security. Hopefully as Jitsu becomes popular it will not become the target of hackers! I also like the open source concept!

    Don’t forget to mention the encryption.
    In contrast to Skype or Zoom, this is real E2E encryption with the keys being with the users, not the provider. Jitsi can’t listen in like Skype or Zoom can!

    • @andreamichellekennedy1170
      @andreamichellekennedy1170 Před 4 lety +3

      actually.... from makeuseof.com:
      One of the most important Jitsi features is privacy. Jitsi uses hop-by-hop encryption to protect your video conference.
      Hop-by-hop encryption means each stage of the video call is encrypted in part. Your video call to the server carries encryption. The server decrypts the video call, then re-encrypts it and forwards it to the video participants.
      Hop-by-hop encryption isn’t perfect, by any means. It means that the server owner could eavesdrop on your conversation if they wish. The way around this is to host a Jitsi Meet server for total privacy. Of course, that isn’t possible for everyone. However, there are no indications that Jitsi’s owners, 8×8, are eavesdropping on private video conversations.
      www.makeuseof.com/tag/jitsi-secure-zoom/

    • @Freedom-eo9fg
      @Freedom-eo9fg Před 4 lety +5

      By default, Jitsi is encrypted, but it is not an end-to-end encryption. This means that Jitsi (or the owner of the server you use) can theoretically watch your conversations. Obviously, Jitsi promises not to do that, but it is wise not to trust it blindly. In addition, the Jitsi servers offer limited bandwidth, so video meetings between ten or more people can cause signal delays.

    • @A_Pa-Plainjane

I am planning on building the keyboard myself, and just a question since you have built it. You mentioned in the video that you got the file for the case of the keyboard so It can be cut, and you had cut from ponoko website from their github. Did you modify anything when you uploaded the file to ponoko for the acrylic switch plate, case and bottom casing ? I just wanted to makes sure since I plan on doing the something as you did but just a little worried about the switches not fitting in or it might be the wrong size. Anyways thank you though :)

    Thanks for your help however when I use my computer initial the meeting and join the meeting with my cell phone. When I share the CZcams video my cell phone cannot hear it. while I share my screen with my PC my cell cannot hear the window video player as as well. I wonder it is because of my setting. Or my computer is too old. The speed is much slower than your video at least 5 second behind. Would you help me out. Many thanks,

    Please set up on a "RENTAL" remote server so we can see how to do it in a production way. Setting up a server instance on your home computer never works if someone duplicates that on a remote server. Thanks. Jitsi seems to be a gamechanger in video conferencing, at least for those who will set it up properly on a remote server. We can later figure out how many cores, how much ram, how large disc space, etc to get on the remote server by loading it to failure, etc in the future.

      Yes, I agree. I'll see what I can do. In the mean time, 'Nerd on the Street - Tech' has a really good tutorial here: czcams.com/video/IQRwtUamHQU/video.html

      @@TJFREE TY :) I will watch that video later after work. If I get, what I think is complete and accurate info, I plan to gent a cloud instance and set up Jitsi and test it with friends. If successful, I hope to make server set up tutorials, that anybody can do, no server experience needed, so anybody who wants to can set one up and update or reinstall it any time. I feel this way because I want to see thinking people get off those huge corporate spyware video conferencing apps, and free themselves with something safe and reliable.
