Thanks @TJFree for having me on. I was impressed with how easy and functional jitsi is.
It was great. Really appreciate your help!
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Joel Levi instablaster :)
@Camilo Brady I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Camilo Brady it worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass :D
Jitsi has been such a welcome addition to the ecosystem. The ability to self-host makes it an obvious pick for me. Not to mention the great support in something like Element (a Matrix client).

This was a perfect video to try and showcase the different features and overall performance. Very cool! And I'm impressed how easily you coordinated everything while always keeping it engaging to follow
Thanks! Glad it was helpful.
That's really a great video .. very informal, natural and engaging. No fancy editing but very useful. Thanks!! Keep up the good work. Love from India. 👍👍👍👍
I wanted an overview of Jitsi and saw 2 or 3 other videos and this was by far the best and most useful, thanks :)
Thanks for sharing this video with us. This helped me so much understanding Jitsi - though the video did also entertained. :-) I love especially the moment Becca walks through 2 screens. Thanks again for sharing this also and not editing it.
Excellent video. Zoom has just imposed 40-minute limit on 1:1 sessions, so we will be switching to Jitsi. Using your two videos as a tutorial. Will share with family. Thanks much for doing this.
thanks for the concise explanation on how to use jitse
No problem!
Hi Ryndon, I´m from Santiago, Chile and I really enjoyed your Great, Simple and Useful Presentation!
Thanks a lot for sharing it with your Family!
My mind is blown! Web RTC is truly fantastic technology
Well done ! I appreciate that you demonstrated an actual meeting! Knowledge of the software a bit low, but I know nothing of it and am wanting to move from Zoom because of the security issues and my involvement with China. (no privacy in China and they host the servers). Zoom has also been thoughtless about user security. Hopefully as Jitsu becomes popular it will not become the target of hackers! I also like the open source concept!
Thank you for the information. I greatly appreciate it. I was just about to sign up for the paid version of Zoom until another tutor told me about Jitsi. 👍🏽
excellent, thanks to the whole group for being the guinea pigs for this. good video of how to have a good video.....appreciated that you stepped through the various options available to you and to each of the others....interesting that each person has about the same options....thanks again to all of yinz....
Hey you guys where a great start of my day. Fun and I learned something too. Thank you
Don’t forget to mention the encryption.
In contrast to Skype or Zoom, this is real E2E encryption with the keys being with the users, not the provider. Jitsi can’t listen in like Skype or Zoom can!
actually.... from makeuseof.com:
One of the most important Jitsi features is privacy. Jitsi uses hop-by-hop encryption to protect your video conference.
Hop-by-hop encryption means each stage of the video call is encrypted in part. Your video call to the server carries encryption. The server decrypts the video call, then re-encrypts it and forwards it to the video participants.
Hop-by-hop encryption isn’t perfect, by any means. It means that the server owner could eavesdrop on your conversation if they wish. The way around this is to host a Jitsi Meet server for total privacy. Of course, that isn’t possible for everyone. However, there are no indications that Jitsi’s owners, 8×8, are eavesdropping on private video conversations.
www.makeuseof.com/tag/jitsi-secure-zoom/
By default, Jitsi is encrypted, but it is not an end-to-end encryption. This means that Jitsi (or the owner of the server you use) can theoretically watch your conversations. Obviously, Jitsi promises not to do that, but it is wise not to trust it blindly. In addition, the Jitsi servers offer limited bandwidth, so video meetings between ten or more people can cause signal delays.
@@Freedom-eo9fg -excellent point if that is how it is set up. Is that in their documentation ?
Thanks for doing the video. It helped me understand the product a little better.
Glad to hear it, Alex. You're welcome!
Thank you and now I'm a fan! Very clear and not rushed. I'm more visual so this was arrhmazing
Thank you TJ FREE for introducing Jitsi and explaining its features; very useful information. Could you, in the future, also cover a free presentation design software? That would be great. Thanks!
That's a great idea, I'll see what I can do. In the mean time you might check out LibreOffice Impress or even Inkscape & Sozi.
Thanks. Starting to use Jitsi for teaching seniors on various topics.
That's great, Tony. You're welcome!
Thank you for bringing this option to my attention.
You're welcome!
Thank you man! My teacher told me to install this too!
Never heard of this before but I’m intrigued to try it out after your clear video x
Amazing piece of software. Thanks for the demo.
VERY informative video. I'm looking forward to seeing how doing this on your own server will work. Thanks!
Have you tried to use OtterAI with Jitsi for transcription of your meetings? This was helpful. Thank You.
Great video. Many thanks for creating it! There is also a list of platforms that are enabling break-out rooms and using Jitsi. Just Google Break-out room for Jitsi :)
Link: github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/wiki/Jitsi-based-solutions-for-breakout-rooms
Veertly offers this functionality based on Jitsi, plus enables interactive networking sessions, polls and more!
hi , when adding participents , they have the same "admin right" as me , they are able to kick me out , can you please tell how to fix it please ? thank you
Great follow-up, thank you.
lets make it famous jitsi
I found on their website, user limit is 75 participants per room. No limit on time.
with free virtual phone numbers too, in case a connection drops and the meeting is important
Very very well done presentation. Thank you.
Thanks from Italy :-)
VERY GOOD INITIATIVE IN THIS CRISIS
Yey, let's do private server next )
Thanks for the video!
You should do an updated video the latest version that's vastly improved. There are no time limits, You can have up to 100 people in the room. You can screen share and whiteboarding as well and now also do a lot more. Its now 2024 and vastly improved.
Hi, I’m just wondering why a guest should have the option of kicking the meeting host out of the room. Doesn’t make sense
Thanks a lot for such a detailed information about this software.
Hi TJ FREE, What about Using MiroTalk?
Very, very intriguing.
Helpful. Thanks.
Do you have videos on Jelly Fin?
Awesome, great video 👍
thanks.
This is cool! What OS are you using? Does it work on Centos ?
Sir , How to stop participants that kick-out the host from the meeting on Jitsi.
Thanks a lot for the video !
You are welcome!
Hello, thanks for the video, I am trying to find out a platform where I can have my fitness classes but I want the participants to see me only, I don't want them to see each other, but I can still look at all of them. Somebody told me that is possible with Jitsi, do you know how? thanks
Thanks for the video! Can you add a virtual background with a green screen?!
Hi! How many people can you see maximum at the same time on the screen? Thanks
Hi Audrey, good question. I'm not exactly sure, but I have read that people have been happy with the performance and usability meetings of 30+ people... in theory you can have many more participants, but I'm not sure how it handles who is displayed on the screen when in grid view.
شكرا جزيلا
Merci beaucoup
Thank you so much
You're welcome!
You should've tried the record option as well.
How to solve the issue, if your jitsi won`t "take" your cam.
Allowing it in Chrome settings won`t help.
It told me I had to wait for a moderator! How did you just connect like that?
This is super easy!
Thanks for a very informative and enjoyable video. I have some questions. 1. Can all in the meeting share their screens, or is it only the meeting organiser who can share their screen with the others? 2. How do you share your screen using the Jitsi interface? 3. Is it using the "D" shortcut?
1) All. 2) Same as Google Meet. An icon on the bottom left corner "Share my screen" → Desktop / Application / Browser tab
nice video. thx
Thanks for this
You're welcome!

Thank you
How do you use virtual backgrounds?
Thanks for the instructional video. Is there a way to zoom in on the camera? The camera has a huge field of view and shows my whole living room behind me. Would like to crop out the background.
It's not the application, u have to change the cam use a webcam with small angle
Can you have more admins in a meeeting? If the one who set up the meeting room has to leave, can it still run with the rest?
Thanks for the information.
what about how to use it in a hospital for the family especially COVID-19 PATIENTS.
Hey Ryndo, I came across your video “Hand wired keyboard, Atreus DIY Build” from your Ryndo labs channel. I am planning on building the keyboard myself, and just a question since you have built it. You mentioned in the video that you got the file for the case of the keyboard so It can be cut, and you had cut from ponoko website from their github. Did you modify anything when you uploaded the file to ponoko for the acrylic switch plate, case and bottom casing ? I just wanted to makes sure since I plan on doing the something as you did but just a little worried about the switches not fitting in or it might be the wrong size. Anyways thank you though :)
I have a question. Everyone see me but i dont’ see myself. What should i do to see myself next to the others?
How to disconnect the audio in jitsi to avoid echoing when two devices are nearby
I am using Jitsi, I have a problem with speakers loosing their picture when they stop speaking
While in a Jitsi meeting, I opted not to see myself in the tile view. How do I undo this?
Sorry if the question has already been asked...
...would like to know what kind of camera you are using here in your Video for the Jitsi using... looks like a good and clear video quality.
Looking forward to your answer! Thanks
Good question. I'm using the Logitech 922x 1080 USB Webcam: amzn.to/3pDCOIT
@@TJFREE thanks for quick answer ;)
How do you display the participant's names? Handy in large meetings.
On my laptop I can flip the picture using an icon in top right cornerso that print shows up readable. I can’t do this on the iPad..no icon. Any help as I really need students to read words. Thanks
I tried a Jitsi meeting today for the first time. My default speaker was my Bluetooth headphones. I was not able to hear the other participant on the call until I switched to the built in speakers. Where is the setting to use the headphones? Thanks
informative! thanks!
Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this video. May I please know how many people can join the room. Is there a limit or unlimited people can join the meeting ?
Can you record the meeting directly to the cloud?
LTG Seb Yes you can! There's an option to link up to a Dropbox account and as soon as you flip the record switch, your meeting will record to Dropbox. From there, you can set your Dropbox share links, etc.
I m Sylvia from Argentina. Thank you for your very useful tutorial. But I would like to ask :
Why my windows keep going black and back to the picture of the participant. I am a yoga teacher and a T:R.E. provider and I need to see what the participants are doing.
Thank you!
Jisti is the best
You can upload a Avatar to gravatar.com by using your encrypted e-Mail Address. It will be shown instead of the stupid Letter when you switch off the Camera.
wow.. your wife is a linux user? awesome !!
8 days ago I wrote short testimony on jitsi community forum, the link is here : communityDOTjitsiDOTorg/t/jitsi-and-8x8/15538/21?u=arivonto
you can also check on my YT video I conducted a video conference from my VPS droplet (16 vCore & 32 GB RAM) with 32 total participants.
Actually, she was on my computer for this video, ;), but we are a Linux household. She and the kids use and like it, (Linux Mint and Solus). She currently has Windows 10 because of the software 'Manycam' which she uses to teach kids English over the internet. I'm actively looking for an alternative to this, so we can switch her back over.
Hey me too, and I'm nobody's wife!
lol
@@TJFREE how about BigBlueButton?
can i conduct a host meetings [Like and a teacher and students]
TJ Free this is a great tutorial, but I am having problems on my windows computer getting allowed access. I have followed instructions and I have tried to do with three different browsers. Would you know any fixes?
Nice feature I like this software .
Can you please tell me White bord free and open source for collaboration ?
I was appreciated and I am asking Tj Free, how easy to share or used for more than 200 user ? tq
how share just a single tab in Firefox?
Can you make a video on how to remove background noise in shotcut? I don't have a mic to record so when I record that way my laptop records my it's engine sound working which is noisy. And do you know any free software to record video and beginner friendly probably without watermark and time limit? I can't efford buying one right now.
Deep Space yea I need this too! XD
If you're on Windows 10 it includes an app called Camera -- it takes stills or video via your webcam.
how to use it in a hospital for the family especially COVID-19 PATIENTS.
Cool 🔥❤️
Is jitsi meet has break rooms ?
how can i install Jitsi Meet app on my pc
Are these features possible to do on mobile too? Also is there a limit to how many people can group video chat
Lastly is there a way to test this out first before using the app
How do you share a web page?
Hi we are using jitsi-meet for web and Flutter,
For web i can customise in react and move libs to server,
But for flutter how its working and where i should change codes and how to deploy it?
Thanks for your help however when I use my computer initial the meeting and join the meeting with my cell phone. When I share the CZcams video my cell phone cannot hear it. while I share my screen with my PC my cell cannot hear the window video player as as well. I wonder it is because of my setting. Or my computer is too old. The speed is much slower than your video at least 5 second behind. Would you help me out. Many thanks,
I have downloaded jitsi in laptop but I am unable to join can u help?
Mr. TJ I am New To Jitsi How can we live Stream the confrence on youtube using jitsi meet and make only speaker in prominance
Please set up on a "RENTAL" remote server so we can see how to do it in a production way. Setting up a server instance on your home computer never works if someone duplicates that on a remote server. Thanks. Jitsi seems to be a gamechanger in video conferencing, at least for those who will set it up properly on a remote server. We can later figure out how many cores, how much ram, how large disc space, etc to get on the remote server by loading it to failure, etc in the future.
Yes, I agree. I'll see what I can do. In the mean time, 'Nerd on the Street - Tech' has a really good tutorial here: czcams.com/video/IQRwtUamHQU/video.html
@@TJFREE TY :) I will watch that video later after work. If I get, what I think is complete and accurate info, I plan to gent a cloud instance and set up Jitsi and test it with friends. If successful, I hope to make server set up tutorials, that anybody can do, no server experience needed, so anybody who wants to can set one up and update or reinstall it any time. I feel this way because I want to see thinking people get off those huge corporate spyware video conferencing apps, and free themselves with something safe and reliable.
