How much silica did you add to your sample? And how did you determine that amount?

Normally 1 to 1.5 times of your crude amount. But sometime you may take 2 times of your crude if the compound is too sticky. Suppose your crude is 1 gram, then add 1.5 gram (roughly 3 mL in measuring cylinder) silica.
