- This tutorial shows how you can use gold (and other colored) nail polish powder to achieve great effects for props and costume use. Supplies used in this tutorial:
Gold nail polish powder (available on Aliexpress)
Gloss enamel spray paint (brown is used here, but black works well for a high reflective shine, especially with chrome/silver powder)
Make up sponge
Eyeshadow brush (this is usually included with the nail polish powder)
Paintbrush with soft bristles
Soft cotton cloth (old t-shirts are great for this)

Very impressive effect! Great timing, too. I'm working on a tube radio prop that has a brass grille, which I haven't been able to paint to my satisfaction.
What do you use as a clear coat to protect the prop? I know some clear coats mess up the mica and turn it glittery.
Clear coat does dull the shine, so I just leave it. I've had a few pieces on display for a while now and they are as shiny as ever. The adhesion to the paint is great, so it's really all about how much the paint sticks to the plastic.
