P.S. the shortcuts are way easier to do on the OG graphics, still difficult but easier, also not all the shortcuts are hard.

Even more amazing when you realize the UNSC ships are over twice the size shown here, which comes from the fact in order to fit the Longsword, 64.1m long and 75m wide, into the hangers of the ships like the Pillar of Autumn, the ships have to be scaled up by about X2.5.

To those who played or have seen Halo Wars knows how much of a fight it can put up, it even survived encounters with not 1, but 2 Covenent ships twice it's size.
Now remember that it's an old Civilian Carrier ship that was hastenly militerized for the sake of the war... Yup, Spirit of Fire is a beast.
I had never heard of the Kraken before, and with the lack of texturing I thought it was a Flood construct at first and I freaked the flip out.

Yep. They don't look silly or superfluous. I love how the UNSC ships are these big, bulky things built around their MAC gun, hence their length. The Covenant ships really are something else. They're as graceful as sea creatures, but also very ominous. There's a mission in ODST when you're trying to escape the city whilst a Covenant army is bearing down on you. That's bad enough. Then a fucking Assault Carrier appears from the clouds ahead, slowly moving to cut-off your escape! Man, Halo really nails the ship designs and conveys their scale and power.

I didn't realize that the long night of solace was that big. Reach put a big dent in the covenant fleet.
The scary thing is the Covenant had hundreds more ships they never deployed in their war with humanity. Possibly thousands, either way we were losing so bad they saw the war more as a pest removal than anything.

IIRC, Long Night of Solace is a CSO class supercarrier, which is identical to the CAS in all ways other than size I believe. And internal structure of course

As we just saw, grunts stack up with humans very well.

In the Perry Rhodan series, an equivalent weapon, the Galaxy Igniter, is âonlyâ 1,000 km in diameter and is basically a 10 km bomb inside a huge shell. Dunno how quickly it can destroy a galaxy though since we never see one in action.

Less than a hundred worlds were glassed by the covenant, and while granted Humanity suffered during the war, they *massively* bounced back using forerunner and covenant tech. 343 did a great job with the UNSC, more Halo games about struggling against the covenant would have been boring and tedious.
Went to Halo Discovery outpost and they had life size figures of all the characters. This universe got so much creepier for how big they are!
Really wish I could've gone there! Untold sadness at the fact that I missed it.

Covenant ships are better than human ships in every single way during the war that is, not after.
Covenant ships have energy shields that can take one to two shop from ship MAC rounds, point defence pulse lasers that literally take out archer missiles with extreme accuracy. better propulsion systems can navigate slipspace a lot more accurately and much faster. Example when human ships enter normal space from slip space they would have to exit from the star systems edge, they could end being in the sun or a planet. While the covenant can make pin point jumps in system.
And let's not forget the weapons.
They have glassing/excavation beam. Plasma Lance. Self guiding plasma torpedos. The plasma weapons boil and melt the human ships 2 meter titanium A battleplate like a torch going through rice paper.
In short, for humans to win on equal footing is that we need to out number the covenant ships 3/1. Even then the losses would b severe.
On ground we can hold our own.
This is why humanity was on the edge of extinction.
Til ya realized Keyes was able to single handily coordinate his sole Pillar of Autumn and taken out like 3 Covenant ships that was also twice or even three times larger then the Autumn. Size isn't everything with a brilliant strategy such as Keye's Loop done by yours truly CAPTAIN Jacob Keyes

Halo definitely has some of the coolest spaceships out of any sci-fi game, maybe tied with mass effect but that's it I think.
Only slightly insane Agreed. Halo and Mass Effect are probably my two favorite Sci-Fi series. I mean, the aesthetics, the gameplay (though I only got to play the original ME and Andromeda), and the music... oh the music.

I feels you. I guess many get sad and I do to seeing this Frigate. Reason probs is that we can never save it from destruction in reach. I tried multiple times killing those ultras using the cannons but nope I still fail.

Plus reach was lost anyways even with the Long Night of Solace destroyed the cutscene straight after shows the fleet that appears out of slipspace ultimately losing hope of any recovering for reach.

@@sharkuel And thats just the lesser ark, the greater ark was much bigger, i dont think there is an actual number anywhere but the lesser ark could build the 10,000km halos and the greater ark built the 30,000km halos.
