Charlie is without a doubt one of the finest drummers to walk the earth. He can play anything. From thrash to Rush and everything in between. As a drummer, the thing about Vinny’s playing that is extremely hard to duplicate is his monster groove and deep pocket. At any tempo. He was the John Bonham of aggressive metal. No one like him. So, to even get close to his stuff you have to be better than great. And Charlie most certainly is. Kudos brother!

Vinne Paul brought pocket and groove to metal. His creative drums parts are legend !!!!! He’s such a beast !!!!! Charlie does an amazing job and imitating vinnie. Vinne is watching above and very happy !!!
Charlie deserves to be with Pantera because of his neverending respect as a drummer & a musician. He's always been a solid drummer, never out of pocket & he doesn't over play. His drumming has always been tasteful. 👍
Met him and saw him in a 1000-cap room in Quebec City. The drum took half the stage, I was front row. A motherfucking kick in the face. Single most insane drumming showcase I ever seen, and I’ve seen alot. Vinnie was a superhuman drummachine second to none. Absolutely incredible

Most fill in drummers usually just play like themselves but Charlie has the same setup, holds his sticks backwards, and keeps each part perfectly aligned with how Vinnie would have played it on record or live. Massive respect, and an amazing tribute. Charlie really is one of the greatest of all time.

They are using samples of Vinnie's drum sounds mixed in with Charlie's live sound at shows. I'm not sure what the source of the audio we are hearing in this video is..but live, it is a mix. Charlie recently did an interview where he said that live, the audience a mix of 40% Vinnie's samples and 60% live Charlie. ..or maybe it was 30/70...I can't remember for sure, but it was either 40/60 or 30/70.
Charlie.. Respect !! As a drummer, & a fan of both Anthrax & Pantera for almost 3 decades, when I shut my eyes to this track, I can feel that Vinnie's groove !! There's not a single flaw in every cymbal hits & attack.. My utmost respect !!
Charlie also writes a lot of the music for Anthrax, plays rhythm guitars on a few albums, has his own solo album in which he plays drums, guitar, bass, and piano. He is also a producer and does a lot of the early artwork for Anthrax. A master behind more then just that kit.

To try and honour Vinnies style and sound is hard, he was so unique with tasteful grooves and fills and had a monstrous sound. Charlie has the big powerful Vinnie sound going on and in the groove pocket, doing this aged 60 is mighty impressive

Was listening to persistance of time a few days ago, that album has some of Charlie's best drumming on it IMO.
