I don't understand parents that put down their kids like that.
From what my mom said when I have brought up things she said to me that stuck, they think they are just kidding. It isn't intended to stick with the kid forever.
It's exactly what's going on with me right now, I'm 20 and I'm still being put down by my mom, for the fact that I'm a fat - which I'm not I'm only 132 pounds- but apparently I'm supposed to look like a model, and every time I ask why she hates me or why she says such stuff to me, it's either cuz she wants me to be perfect or other times it would be only jokes. These jokes ruined my confidence and self love completely! ✌🏼
I have learned that a lot of people live life from a place of pain. This can cause us to parent our children from a place where we are trying to help them, but are really putting our unhealed pain onto them. For example, my mother is AfAm and grew up in segregated Alabama. She experienced pain and rejection like being spit on by white students in school. So, her remedy when raising me was 1) Get me the hell out of Alabama (good thing) and 2) Try to teach me to be as perfect as possible in looks, word and deed so that I couldn't be compared to others and found wanting. That doesn't work because 1) Nobody can be perfect. 2) A life worth living includes pain. You can't get the good stuff without the bad. 3) Since she was full of pain and rejection, her lessons came from a place of "You better not mess up or you are nothing and I won't be able to have my life choices validated through you." She didn't intend to do it. She was trying to help me and love me the best she knew how. But, when I experienced a breakdown at about 19 and told her I didn't believe she loved me unless I achieved, she hit a wall. She is a lot better, but of course not perfect. I have had to learn to keep her history in mind and control my own vision of myself so that nothing she says can shake it. I don't always succeed. But, I am so much happier.
Rahaf Almasri things only ruin you if you let them do❤
They shouldn't be parents
Some people aren't fit to be parents. Just because you put food on the table doesn't mean you're a good parent.
her smile is soooo attractive
Omg, I thought at first that her dad called her DUFF. I was like wtf?!
I love this woman so much, what an inspiration
We live in a bizarre world where a woman being ok with being built like a woman is an inspiration. It should just be normal lol.
she is my role model! i love her!
She looks healthy..and that is good.
She so smart
this just made me love her
It’s so great that she takes the time to insult men at every chance in this interview, right down to her own father - numerous times. Gee, where can I read this book of hers?
my father called me useless when I was little
His wrong 💛
Maybe you were love
I fricken love her! So positive!
My dad called me apple head growing up lol
Jessica H Michael Jackson used to lovingly call his oldest son that too.
Thank you ytube i am watching madam on my mobile thats enough and most satisfing my thrust ..... Thanks
What a strange nickname. Speaks more of him than her.
omg that's andrea from survivor
She’s beautiful
Is it weird to say that i think ashley would look really pretty with a baby bump.
She isso pretty and she does not have fat in her face...that is so georgeous!
That das calling her "duh"??? Am confuse.
Yes he called her 'duh'
Tavo Dupré what does that mean? i thought i heard duck or something
“Constant criticism - that was my dad through and through,” Ashley writes in her book out today. “My father was a master of the cutting insult. His nickname for me was, ‘Duh,’ because he didn't think I was very smart."
'Duh' is a word used to respond to something stupid or insultingly obvious.
Sarah Sahar ii
Love her
She's my role model
Happy 7th Anniversary to Ashly and her hunky handsome husband of color as she put it on Wendy William show.
she hot. be bless
Your enough for me!
What did her dad call her
Off topic the female presenter looks so baltic specifically estonian
She is pretty
Called her what????
jarocla66
Duh
I think she's one of the few women on media that is actually curvy and hot, not like most plus size models.
... She sounds like she looks up to Kim.
How?
Maybe celebrating curvaceous bodies
... But Kim's "curves" are mostly artificial..,
cuz she Duh ... duhh
Lily Raimey It doesn't change the fact that she has them
It doesn't, obviously, but that's not my point. My point is that she isn't deserving of praise for the curvaceous body that is not naturally hers.
She needs to stop being a drama queen!Duh!
I love u Ashley
I love you so much🌹🌹😘😘😘😘😘😍❤️😍😍😍😍😘🌹😘😘❤️❤️😍
She's gorgeous
Duh
Wait duh or duck?

ratherbenapping 10 i don't think kim would want her hands in your dirty mouth😷😷😷
I think it's duck?
Jannah Shah It's duh cause he didnt think she was smart....
What the hell so this woman talking about? Dad’s no. priority is to shove you in the world of dating. Right.
Wow you sure are missing the point. That's not what shes saying at all. Wtf who gets that from her comment?
No. I believe she means a father should help you set your standards for dating by how treats you and talks to you about what to require from a man
Nicadhliy
Her voice is so hot she must be a singer !!
Has she lost weight?
why would it matter?
She's hot either way
How does "duh" hurt?
I guess it’s because it means that he thought she was dumb idk
😒
I don't know why she's giving all of this advice. She's a plus size model she was the first to be on Sports Illustrated as a plus size model. Why is the psychiatric end of it in EVERY interview she does. That's great and helpful she lets women know to love your body but who is she to give all this other advice??? Am i missing something or does Ashley Graham have a REALLY BIG EGO. RELAX Ashley it's getting a bit PREACHY.
The Rose Reporter ????
The Rose Reporter well as least she aint that 400 pound Tess
woman..who looks like a big blob of doodoo..but i see your point.
I think she knows she is a public figure and believes she has things to share to help women
