doesnt really matter that they finally made a model better than gpt-4 (that was released almost a year ago) OpenAI is going to drop gpt-5 most likely, and all competitors will be left behind again.

That might be true, but the quality of these models are getting so good that it's very likely going to put downwards pressure on the price point they can charge, basically, we have many options and more are likely on the arisen.
Then we've also got open source A.I. models that are coming along in leaps and bounds in such a short space of time.
OpenAI got the ball rolling with A.I. but things are really heating up now that, OpenAI had the head start which give them a big advantage in being ahead, but others are catching up fast that even when ChatGPT 5 is released, the gap from that to rivals will likely be a lot narrower.
Also, I can only imagine how much ChatGPT 5 would cost in computing power that I think they would need a radical rethink in how the models are done like many rivals are doing or the computing power needed for ChatGPT 5 would be insane that it might not be practical for mass use without some major changes to the model, something many rivals are already doing, and in some sense, that does level the playing field a lot, in other words, the brute force approach that OpenAI have been doing is too costly, rivals are going about things smarter in getting more with less resources, and we are seeing a lot of that with open source models because of the limited resources at running them at a local level, hence why you can get much smaller models then ChatGPT 3 that compare in quality to it.
My point is, the floodgates are opening up that OpenAI are not the only game in town, we already have Mistral and now Claude 3 that are comparable to GPT4, more are likely on the arisen that the difference from one to another will likely become smaller, then it's all going to come down to price and how open they are.
