"Transformers is about as action-packed and satisfying a third-person shooter as you're going to find on the PS2 right now, and it makes pretty good use of its license, too. Besides the familiar characters and the transformation ability, you can also find "data-cons" scattered throughout the game that unlock toy photos, concept art, classic public-service announcements, and a lot of other goodies. The game has decent replay value, since it has three distinctly different difficulty modes, plus lots of hidden mini-cons and data-cons to find after the fact. And even if you only play through it once, fighting classic boss characters like Megatron, the 900-foot-tall Tidal Wave, and the planet-sized Unicron is pretty nifty in itself. Starscream using the Narrow Laser Cannons in the second fight was a nice touch.
This game looks good for its era.
It even plays nicely. For a long time it was considered the best Transformers game until the release of Transformers: War for Cybertron.

I remember on the first boss battle you can go as far as you could without there being a warning or mission failed for leaving the boss area, I even remember you can see the boss’ smoke coming out of him as he’s nearly defeated.
Someone needs to remaster or at the very least port this game to current gen. I may not have tried any other transformer games than this one but it's a damn good adaptation and the bosses really are intimidating. I was hoping for ones like tidal wave you would be able to scale his body just to deal more damage.

The best game of Transformers for PS2
This game have one of hardest boss battle in transformers game
They where legitimatly threating, infact the whole game would make you feel tense, makeing you wonder if you were alone, only to have a invis ape bot grab you a fling you into a tree, or the spider tanks sniping you while you try to climb a mountain and send you flying to your doom, and all this was glorious
They really need to do a remake on this game for ps4

Hmm I wonder if there was cut content of Unicron transforming in the boss fight. On his model you can see his legs, though ofc that could be them just shaping it purely from the original reference since transformers are usually designed figure first and show appearance second.
There was not enough time to design a robot mode phase of the Unicron fight. As a result, a Unicron robot mode model was never made.

If this game are great some of the bosses are simply pissing: Cyclonus who threw you away and beating you like an old rug in the process. Tidal "Tubby" wave spamming rockets and shoots because he's too big to fight properly 🤣🤔🫤. Well at least his death have some emotions.
