Sayandeva is an ardent devotee of Sri Nrusimha Saraswati Swamy (Saint of Ganagapur) the second reincarnation of Sri Dattatreya Swamy dating back to the time period of 14th & 15th centuries. Sayandeva dwelled in Kadaganchi, a remote village about 50 kilometers from Ganagapur near Gulberga or Kalaburgi of Karnataka. He wrote the very famous and holy book Sri Guru Charitra.
Apparently, Sri Gangadhara Saraswati, the fifth generation saint from the Sayandeva's family, reportedly dug a cave underneath the house and hid the holy book fearing damage by the invading muslim rulers of that era.
Recent efforts by the Sayandeva Datta Mandir Trust Kadaganchi has thrown light on this fact and they are restoring the sanctum sanctorum by building a temple and maintaining the holiness of the sacred book of Hindus.
