Ngolo Kante and Kieta play differently. Kieta attacks more, like pobga for example while Kante plays more defencive like Matuidi etc

@Manuel Baut104 and Keita played 244 minutes (not even 3 full games) in18-19 champions league and 814 minutes in EPL 19-20 - the season Liverpool won it. Which is nothing.

Keita is a solid player who's good defensively and offensively, he's quick, strong, and small but has top dribbling and can progress the ball up the pitch nicely.
Conclusion: Naby Keita is the man.

Chelsea fan here, and i've been aware of Keita for years. Really jealous of Liverpool. Though he is a player with more in common with Iniesta, though he does offer that bit extra in defence.
Still with Henderson playing pivot this guy should really sparkle. What a gem. He is going to be the best African player since Yaya Toure.

2019/20 season starting 11 in a 4-2-3-1 = Alisson, TAA, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson = GK & DEFENCE. Fabinho & Henderson (captain) = MIDFIELD. Salah, Keita, Mane = WINGS & AM. Firmino = FALSE 9. That would be an awesome starting 11 imo just need to add a few bodies for back up/competition for places.

By watching the videos of Kante and Keita I can point out some similarities and differences b/w them.
Both play deep but Keita is more offensive minded than Kante.
Both are good at reading the game hence so good at interception (totally similar but the speed Keita is much better) while in tackling both uses the same concept that is come from behind using the blindspot(but here Kante' is much better than Keita).
While the obvious difference b/w them is the position in which they play and the style i.e Kante plays more defensive not really try taking shots from outside the box though he himself a good dribbler like Keita And one thing that Keita does is, he make late runs in both the boxes when not in possession.
Maybe I sound biased and I am biased as I'm a Liverpool fan , I think Keita is a Upgrade of Kante.(I want Kante to be a little offensive player as fan of him and take shot from outside the box as Lampard or Gerrard)

Or another good CB who can step up in case VVD gets injured, because we all know Lovren crumbles without a commanding defensive partner.

Why the question mark? Clyne was the #1 RB and actually doing well in most games until he got injured. So unless he suddenly lost all his defending abilities because of the injury, he's going to regain his spot on the starting XI. Besides, we also have Gomez who can put in a shift in that spot if needed. Thus, we don't need a RB.

Robertson is doing great on the left back. Right back with TAA and Gomes, even with clyne is good but not great. I am referring to form a title winning squad. Right back is a position we can improve.
Of cos clyne, Gomes and TAA can plays and rotate at right back but that will not challenge city for the Bpl title. We will cont to finish top4 year in year out.

@ poolfans - Clyne was doing fine last season. If he didn't get injured, TAA would not have gotten this much chance. That's a fact. Hardly anybody were complaining about Clyne's performances before his injury.
So you're saying Robertson is doing well at LB thus we don't need a new LB, while TAA is doing well at RB but we desperately need a new RB? Pretty skewed logic that. Have you forgotten that Moreno is a walking accident waiting to happen? The guy has probably cost us more points than Lovren and Matip combined. While Clyne may not have been that great going forward, he is a solid defender. Moreno does not know how to defend at all.

defensive midfielders and holding midfielders are usually the same. looking at Busquets from Barcelona, Jorginho from Napoli, these are 'defensive midfielders' that sit in front of the defence, protecting the back four as well as circulating the ball around will their passing ability acting as the anchor. the difference however i would say is a 'specialist' DM defends more and a 'specialist' CM passes the ball more. A typical example is Real Madrid's midfield. both Modric and Kroos are world class holding midfielders because they can pass the ball so well. However they cant defend at all, and behind them is the 'defensive midfielder' Casemire, and all he does is pretty much wins the ball back and gives it to modric and kroos cause he cant pass.
Holding midfielders are basically defensive midfielders. Their #1 priority is to protect the back four by breaking up opposition plays and giving the ball to their own attacking players. They need good positional awareness, physical presence, good timing, good tackling and the ability to read opposition passing routes.
Think of defensive midfielders as center-halves but with more stamina, pace and better passing ability.
Holding midfielder like to contain game.. Retain the possession.. Box to box basically midfield who have a lot of stamina diligently helps defending and attacking ..
