Here is the drum set part to a very well-known arrangement of Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story. The arrangement is by Maurice Peress.
If you play drum set in an orchestra as I do you will run across this arrangement many times as it is played quite often on pops concerts and the like.
I show you how to interpret the written music into something that is more listener friendly as well as demonstrating how I approach performing this piece.
Here are some Time Stamps if you want to skip around.

Essential viewing and listening. Invaluable advice. Thank you so much Rick
Great job. Great insight. Thank you.
I've played drum set for a while and orchestral percussion, but never drum set in an orchestral setting. This was pretty cool and very interesting in showing those two things coming together.
Great playing, the drums sound phenomenal and your instruction is always appreciated!
nicely instructed Rick.
Thank you so much
Really nice imput and great playing. I've played it once with an orchestra and it wasn't easy at all. Thank you
Thank you 👏🏻 very good lesson
YOU'RE AMAZING!
Nice playing! Are you playing Sabian Artisan hi hats?
Hi Rick- whats the metal hoop on your snare? Thanks
That's a dialtune snare so it's the quick change rim they use. If you search my channel for Dialtune you will see a few videos on the drum which I love.
And you get doubling !!! 🙃🙃
