Group therapy saved their band and their friendships. Vocalist Winston McCall explains how the therapy sessions were a gamechanger, resulting in revelations and the "mirror" he's never had. Winston says it's healthy to be vulnerable.
The school and surfing mates started out in a garage in Parkway Drive, Byron Bay. 20 years later they are Australia's biggest heavy metal act. Thoughtful, quietly spoken and remarkably open, Parkway Drive don't fit the picture of a typical metal band. The band was built on fun and friendship but as Parkway became more successful, and the work became more intense, creative differences, unequal workloads, and pay disputes began tearing them apart.
Can counselling save not only the band, but their friendship as well?

You don’t become one of the best frontman by not being intense , but it’s great to hear the growth and healing of a legendary singer
Lol there is a lot of great frontman that was very mild and easy in person, Corpsegrinder for example such a very humble and sweet person.
Winston seems like the most chill guy ever, but I dont know him
As a fan, I appreciate the honesty. It's hard sometimes to not only be honest with yourself and the people you're close with, but to go even further and be honest with the world. This interview resonated with me. Thanks.
Mad respect for you Winston.
He is such an inspiration ❣️ I have tons of respect for him and the rest of the band❣️❣️🤘🏼
Definitely my favorite band ..a band..each member is just as important and equal..without maintaining unity there will be no more parkway Drive
I'm a fan of the music and completely understand what he's talking about. I'm the same exact way. Love from the US!
God I wish I could talk to winston once. I love him so much
Thanks for everyone. We barged in on you during that christchurch tour and stole a quick photo. I couldn't afford the gig but it was a lifechanging moment. Upwards and onwards my bro.
Very modern. I think we'll hear a lot about that in the future !
And didn't how he was a bodyboarder, cool !
He was at a pro level pretty much at one point.
I'm very surprised that Winston would have been described as an intense person, I always thought he was this mellow, stable guy.
Of course he's intense. He's a metal frontman. What did they expect. And the not seeing ppl. I get it man. People tend to be a stress. He seems fine. Being in a band that long is tough. I did it for 4 years and the touring was rough after a bit. Like being married to 4-5 other dudes. It was intense. That's how it is. Why most don't make it.
Whole PWD is intense! I mean… was intense!
Very honest
you are an artist.. we are born to entertain that's all
Winston definitely takes life a bit too seriously you can tell by this and his lyrics it would be great if he lightened up a bit
I met him and the rest of parkway at download a few years ago and honestly he's the nicest guy you could ever talk to, was surprised I took up half my arm with his bands logo and he was so stoked and hugged me and shook me hand, absolute legend!
Nose job on winston
Just make music, play shows. Simple as
20 years with the same people would get on your nerves .
And be a robot? no human connections, no adversary for growth?
