  • mormonchannel.o... Austin never thought his drug addiction would hurt the people he loved. When drug dealers threatened his family for information on his location, he knew he had to change. But how could he? Was there any good left in him? In the addiction recovery program, Austin learned the truth: God had given him many good qualities, and He had the power to help Austin uncover them again.
Step 4 - Truth: Make a searching and fearless written moral inventory of yourself.
Those who face addictions often struggle with the consequences of their choices for many years, sometimes for their whole lives. The outcomes that are portrayed in this video series do not reflect the possible range of outcomes that may be experienced by others. AUSTIN... Are you kidding me?!? I had no idea. Your story is intense I am so glad the cartel never found you or hurt you. You and your wonderful wife have served and help change the lives of so many people in the program.
With God you are one of the strongest soldiers in his army. Thank you for always fighting, suiting up and showing up.

    Ashamed, I chose to drink
Always, I was on the run
    And I just didn't think
    That it would hurt anyone
I tried to quit on my own
Then I sought the Bishop's hand
    I found I wasn't alone
    Now my life's something grand

i more than can relate. my stories of addiction can get sinsiter/dark. recovery can be difficult already. For me, im a humane person or so i like to think... its getting away from the connection of liking the dark side that is most hard. i try to believe that once i have whatever experience i seem to be looking for that this cycle will conclude instantainiously. Ive yet to have that conclusion occur. Tick tock tick tock!!!! i puah forward hoping this path im on is the right one and although my flesh is weak at times my spirit navigates me to what feels like a honorable destination. jft!

Sharon, thank you for sharing your story. I was on meth for five years. Today, I am two years, and two months sober, which means this video was posted one month before I got sober on September 21st, 2015. I am grateful for your message in this on step 3. Turning our will and our life over to the care of God was the only way we were able to finally and truly be free from the bondage of self. We learn to better do thy will with the steps, and I still am amazed that we have gotten this far in sobriety. One day at a time.

I am now just over 5 months sober. Thank you for sharing. Even though I feel like I am "good", and like I am working the steps daily, it is nice to see people reaching territory (over 2 years for you) that has been uncharted for me. We just have to look to God (daily) and live. It is that simple. So simple, that it is hard.

I applaud this step to inventory our own truth. Fearless! The power of the Why can be helpful to examine our positives. Ask yourself in the mirror and record your impressions:
Why do I make people happy?
Why do I have so many friends?
Why do my parents love me?
    Why am I greatly talented?
    Why am I original?
Why do I believe in myself?
    Why am I beautiful?
Why am I successful at work?
Why do I achieve so many goals?
    Why does God love me?
    Why am I blessed?...
List your favorite Whys...and discover your new story.

I didn’t return to God because of addiction but I did blame him for not helping me with my “prayers” as a child. Too bad our teachers (as in those teaching us about Christ/God) usually don’t really reinforce the fact that we can’t/don’t get what we want on earth because we all have free choice (for instance I wanted my parents to stay together). Sometimes God has a different plan for us and sometimes we won’t understand but hopefully we will all be able to return to Christ/God one day. It wasn’t until several months after my dad passed and I was almost 50 years old that I returned. My story is much longer and complicated than that but so is everyone else’s :) stay strong!

You are all hero's in my mind, may Heavenly Father continue to bless you is my prayer. I think Alma the younger is a mentor for us all, though he was a sinner indeed he mended his way. You can be a great advocate for the church in these the last days we need your help with the youth of the church as well as us adults. I also would question anyone who would say they will never fall.

"people like me" met together-- Get real, we (all people) are all the same we are all capable of addiction!! I really with people [in authority] would just stop using terms 'people like you---people like that I love the way my Bishop says it--"we all have problems just different ones

    • @heatherfaithgerard8227
      @heatherfaithgerard8227 Před 5 lety

absolutely we are all different, but that is a part of Heavenly Fathers plan makes us all different... like was mentioned by one of our leaders in the church.. He made all different... no 2 people or animals or finger prints are the same. That was part of His divine plan.. diversity.. another way also to use our talents we are given to love and except and encourage others... just because they are not just like us does it mean He loves anyone less than He loves us and its just so beautiful. I am just so thankful for His love and acceptance and forgiveness, mercy and His amazing unchanging grace He so freely gives.. Im thankful for you Jesus for loving us so very much and making sure we feel that love... Your timing is always so perfect.. Please help us all to walk out our Salvation and covenant we made to love you with our whole being... Lord please help to over come and find victory, trusting who the Son sets free will be free indeed. Lord Jesus... You are the sun in my horizon..and I will wait for You. in Your Holy precious name.. the name above ALL, Jesus amen
