It is not a sound problem with the old movies. The movies will be deleted off of youtube and the channels will get strikes if they play copyrighted music. And if a channel gets three strikes for playing copyrighted music, they will be permanently banned from youtube. That is why so many of the old movies go silent when someone is singing or a band is playing music. Apparently the Algorithms can easily pick up on the music, and all of the movie studios, record labels, and publishers who own the rights to the music have copyrights filed on every song if it was recorded or part of a movie. It took me a while to figure out what was happening too. Because it seemed to be sporadic, because all I mainly watch is old movies, but my favorite is old westerns and the sound did not go out on all of them. But once I had watched all of the great old westerns over and over, I started watching the old B westerns, and a lot of the old B westerns featured singing cowboys. And that is when I finally pieced the puzzle together, and figured out that the movies were going silent only when someone was singing or a band was playing a song, or someone was playing a recording of a song, in a movie.

Did anybody notice the macadamia nuts dispensers?! Rota Hayworth was the best choice for this part. She was just as wonderful as Joan Crawford was in the earlier version called Rain, with Clark Gable.
How come all those guys watching YT vids haven't realised yet about muting music that is copyrighted? It's a shame those two numbers had no sound but at least we got to see how funny they look without the music!
