@wilsontexas and that's perfectly fine for believers. For those of us who don't believe in God, our free will aligns our actions with what is best for us and our families. We certainly care about the well being of all people and I think you'll find that a lot of non-believers believe in the teachings of christ, such as compassion, tolerance, generosity, hospitality, love thy neighbor, etc, but don't believe those things are somehow divinely inspired.

Wow…as an Episcopalian and Democrat, I am so very proud of Rep. Talarico and his speaking the truth. May God bless and keep him safe, well and happy and grant him the strength and courage in his many challenges ahead…he is the rare American whose words can, with our help, change the course for better. It’s my understanding that an average of 106 people are shot to death in the US daily. I remember Walter Cronkite ending the CBS Evening News for a long time in the Viet Nam war by showing the names, photos and hometowns of the soldiers killed in battle that week…perhaps a similar feature should be added today by the news departments at ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN and Fox…they could each take 15 or 20 victims apiece and show them much the same as Walter Cronkite did…the Viet Nam war ended, and so can the useless and repetitive tragedies we have become jaded to due to their frequency. It’s time to wake up and steer clear of the path truth deniers would have us take. Young leaders like Mr. Talarico give me hope.
