Hello, I am a carpenter, joiner, turner and cabinet maker, now retired and I am 75 yrs young. I watch you and others in your small workshop turning out fantastic quality, hand made products, you sit on the ground and have the ambition to use all your limbs, it is fascinating to watch you. I am frustrated that I no longer have a workshop, as here in the United Kingdom they are very expensive.
I satisfy some of my frustration watching You Tube craftsman, like you and the boy with you, I hope that in a while I can visit your country and see for myself you and other skilled workers like you.
    I wish you well
    Kind regards
    Mike Wild

Absolutely loved every minute of that video. As a kids I'd spend copious amount of hours watching my brother's with all the skills they'd developed and my dad too, now I'm in my 60's I'm doing the same via CZcams. Truthfully as a female I wanted to be doing the same as them but girls weren't allowed, thank god things are changing, too late for me but am trying to learn more about computers and have determined I won't use my age as an excuse not to learn something new!

No, you will not see this type of woodworking style done in America (we have many, many Artisans in their own right!, but in this video’s case, these men are using their hands and feet to hold, or some how control their work, steady the machine etc. all the while the sound of passing traffic is in the background. May God bless their work, and I’m so glad that the younger Artisan is literally learning “at the feet of the best”. : )

Puxa vida !

If you give the pieces and the lay out to a person that has no idea of the old ways of this kind of craftsmanship, they would absolutely be lost! It’s beautiful to see this woodworking still in the the world today. The only thing I would change is maybe putting it on a table to work off of, lol.

When you have to do that work for many hours a day (10+) and many days a year (300+) - lowering the center of gravity (core muscles) is probably better for the back, the legs and for balance. I mean a carpenter with the above skill can easily build a table if he wanted to. Must be reason to choose to squat rather than stand.
This squatting appears to be prevalent in all skill jobs where arduous long hours are also common.
Also interestingly, all the workers are also using dexterity in their toes and muscle strength in their lower legs to assist in addition to fingers and upper muscles.

@Manish Singh Yes my friend. You are absolutely right! Thank you for wide comment. Maybe due to such comments as main and yourth somebody would have a mind about safety. Think safety doesn't costs money, but needs education.
As you say about car safety I'm not reach enough to buy a new car with all modern safety features. But I prefer to buy used car with most available safety features. I'm living in Crimea which maybe as you know was annexes by Russia 7 years ago. Before, when Crimea was a Urainean region, we got many used cars came from Europe. And them was good enough technologically and in safety. Ukrainean people are not reach and prefer used europian cars.
Now, when we are a part of Russia, I can see people buy more new cars made in Russia. But their quality much less comparely to europian cars and the level of their quality, which is technically and safety much much lower. I bought used Renault Megane made in Netherlands came from Italia. And It's better than any Renault car made in Russia.
How do you think what is the country in this video? I guess it's Pakistan.

      @ahnafkhan5861 Před 2 lety +3

This video is filmed in Pakistan, somewhere in remote area & most of the places like the one you see in the video have poor safety records like & it's a common sight in countries which aren't developed & still developing + lack of education regarding safety also contribute to it..

@Manish Singh your comments are straight from the book without and practical experience. Try lighting wood shavings with a spark from a cigarette. I use kerosene to burn wood shavings from my work shop.
I would never use gloves doing what he is. If the glove snags your hand would be a mess.
Vacuum system, turning produces wood chips. Dust is problem when you use sanders and table saws. Anything over 30 mic is not a problem.
On the other hand the guy cutting the staves on the table saw, that was definitely unsafe. There are safer ways of doing it for sure.
