I'm able bodied but I have driven a car with hand controls. It was quite easy but I needed to use a lot strength to accelerate. Braking was easy. It may have just been they way they were set up I don't know really. You could also drive the car normally with your feet as well as the rods weren't interfering with using the pedals with your feet. I think it's great for giving a disabled person some independence back.

Should I trust hand controls that are sold on Amazon? The ones they install at pro shops are not affordable. However, the ones I can afford may not be something made for long term use. I need something that is both permanent and durable.

stephanie franklin I honestly just went for it. I tried different ways, I still do. No it’s not hard, but even though I’m a C3 incomplete, I have my core, leg strength, and other factors that help me. If you need help please look us up on Facebook and send me questions on messenger
People do drive my car with it attached. But I honestly wouldn’t. It literally takes 1-2 minutes to put on petals or take it off them. They are very simple

@@blindthief yes! I use mine daily. I’m on my third vehicle in 11 years since becoming paralyzed. They are very affordable, durable and reliable!

do the hand controls you press on the gas? are you able to get out of the car by yourself?
Yes you pull the hand controls for gas and push forward for braking. Yes I can transfer in and out without assistance.
So can I use this if my wife shares my car? It would have to be uninstalled for her or she could just use it? I’m the one that has the need for it.
