Yes! The punk fanzines were my first real intro to zines, they were great and I am glad to see zines having a bit of a comeback nowadays. Poor Miss Mabel is wearing the Cone of Despair after her spay op, we are counting the days until it comes off. 🥰💗

Happens like that seeing things all over the place which are relevant to you. When we bought our motorhome we saw them everywhere! These are fabulous though definitely the best online😅 really lovely. Well done ❤❤

I did my first zine about a month ago, and I’ve started my second one. I used the cut and fold method to create the pages, and used a large 18 x 24 Canson paper. Once folded, it has 16 pages that are about 4 3/4” x 5 3/4”. I had the same experience-found a very old book on zines on my bookshelf, made one, and all of a sudden it seems the whole world is making them. Weird!
ooh, that sounds great, Kathryn, I must do one of those larger ones, it gives more scope for creativity. Yes, it is funny how zines are getting a bit of a resurgence at the moment, there must be something in the air! 😂💗💗
Just out of interest, what is the difference between a gel plate and a piece of glass.? Is this mono printing in general, I was shown on a sheet of glass. I just would like to know if it’s worth buying. Thanks for the tutorials btw.
Glass and gel monoprinting are very similar. The biggest difference, I have found, is that the gel plate has 'give' and also is slightly sticky, which stops stencils and masks from slipping. Oil based media is best on glass and I like water based media on the gel plate. I hope that helps, but I recommend you give it a go and see how the two techniques feel for the way you like to work.
The walk zine was a wonderful idea. Walking is very helpful in clearing ones mind and keeping us in tune with Mother Nature.

Great video! What type of paper are you using for your gel prints?
Thanks Debbie, I use good quality photocopy paper, it's slightly heavier weight than the basic type. 😀
Great points and lovely gel print. I have made a zine of my art, it was great promo material, and affordable. What weight paper do you recommend?

It’s very similar, but I’m a klutz and would break glass for sure!

Is not easy to do that with a heavier paper. I did two or tree with copy paper. That was a lot of fun 😊
