When I played those, I would sometimes "miss" and push the string all the way forward when it was close. It would do two things, stretch the string and sometimes get it to swing to put extra weight on the prize.

One hack for barber cut is if the string is frayed purposely miss a little to the left or right but then go all the way foward on the string and put tension on the string. It will end up breaking the string without having to cut it more. This is how I won once from it

It was 100% skill mode meaning the scissors didn't deviate forward if you lined them up perfectly, so it let you cut every time until there was a win.

Nah the game won't let you cut other strings unless that certain section is ready to pay out. It will deviate forward even if you have it lined up properly.
