We just arrived in Phu Quoc yesterday. I would say "wish you were here" but there is 90%-100% chance of thunderstorms ALL DAY today and for the next seven days it is forecasted to be pretty bad. 😬

Congrats on your future marriage, couldn't have chosen a better person! We did the Thai ceremony 13 years ago to put it on ice and registered the marriage with the Thai Embassy 3 months ago. I saw you guys driving around Pkk and passed you as you were leaving the Boy Scout camp and we were driving in...we were in a white Pajero Sport as well and waved but didn't want to bother you. Funny thing we went to get a massage on the beach and ran into Mike and Nicole and were very nice people. I never got my head around the significance of the marriage date but was happy to let her pick it. Take care!

About $100NZD for a cheap room in Ibis in Christchurch, NZ. The room was only large enough to walk to the one exposed edge of the bed, a bathroom so small you'd think it was designed for a train.
broken vending machines, the gap under the door was large enough to get your ph under without a case on.
I was only there for 6 hours after a days travel I didn't care.

You could hire a Bentley or something for a wedding car, might be hard to get a into a supercar in a wedding dress.

Thailand wedding dates and time are usually decided by monks to be the most auspicious time. You may have to go back to work to get some rest, retirement can be exhausting.

I booked a trip for November in March. April and May i booked hotel rooms. I've noticed since about mid May hotel prices started rising for November. Now they run 10 to 15 % higher to book than they did in April. Just my own personal experience.

El Toro. That's a Brazilian style steakhouse. I took my dad and my uncle there back in 02/2023. I love Brazilian style dining but can't eat enough to cover the price.
Hi Gift and Joe, sounds like you have been busy with an even busier time ahead of you especially with your son coming to stay. There are so many malls in Bangkok, but I am not a great fan of these large places and prefer to shop local. I have only been to Bangkok to renew my passport and find it far too busy and noisy for me, but admire people who go there for their stamina! I like that room that you are staying in, so handy for everything and a great size too. Much better value than the one in Madrid. This is not a criticism Joe, but I always find it amusing when Americans, always add the country after the city name, like Madrid Spain or London England or Paris France. We in Europe just say Madrid, London, Paris, Bangkok or New York and everyone knows where they are without the country being added. It seems to be peculiar to people from the United States, which is quite endearing. Great to see JR and Cecilia again and the great evening you had together. I'd love to have a Ford Mustang over here. I had a convertible one back in the US for a while and loved it. But, at least for me, I can't self-justify paying more for a vehicle than the cost of my house. But, those were certainly beautiful cars.

We built our home with family visiting in mind. The bedroom has its own en suite and its own entrance and exit doors, so that our guest can have access and privacy.

Please see the link for El Toro Steakhouse below, there you can find the menu, reviews and location. For me the food was good but I did find the salad bar to be limited in choices. Price for the Churrasco Rodizio which included all cuts of high quality meats and salad bar was 1,980 Thai Baht ($54 USD) per person. Price does not include drinks, dessert etc. I did not pick up the tab but I believe that there was a 10% service fee and 7% VAT.

Hi Paul, Thank you 🙏 so much! Honestly, it’s hard to say the best way to open a bank account. My first account I was able to open after 5 tries, I did have my O visa at the time. All I can say is try to open an account and see what happens. I opened mine at the exchange tower SCB bank, not far from where we were staying and pretty close to the Emsphere Mall. If all else fails, you can hire an agent to help assist. Just google open a Thai bank account for foreigners in Bangkok. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Looking for recommendations from Joe or any of his follows. My Thai wife is going to be sworn in as a American citizen in the next month. We want to bring her 35 year old son and two grandchildren over the quickest and legal way as possible. We are looking for a Thai company to help with all the paperwork. Congratulations on your wife getting her citizenship. I could be wrong but I believe it will take longer than a month to get your wife’s family a visa to the US. Best to check with your US embassy or consulate for guidance.
Yes, I know. My wife just passed all her test, now we are waiting on the swearing in ceremony. I expect it to take at least two to five years to get her son an and grandchildren visa’s, and thank you.
