  • Here's how I fly north from Boulder. In this video I describe the XC strategies and tactics I use, as well as important areas to avoid landing at.

These are so great! Working on my P2 with RedTail, these are so incredibly helpful to start thinking and understanding what is going through an experienced pilots head while flying XC! Thanks for the videos!

This is a GREAT breakdown full of useful info! Thanks! ^_^
As an aside, what camera setup are you using? The horizon lock on this hyperlapse is a really nice display for this. Thx again!

I've got a GoPro max with a long 90 deg USB C cable running to a big battery bank in my flight deck. I found better footage if I use world lock on but with horizon lock off, and just manually reframe every 30 sec or so (total video only about 5 min long). For this one it was on my helmet and running the cable down my back, but I've switched to using a selfie stick zip tied to the carabiner and the lumbar support strap. I launch with it retracted and extend it out a little past arms length once I get a chance to let go of the brakes for a few seconds. The helmet cam is a little less cumbersome and sketchy but the stick takes better footage. I did have to take the battery door cover off to keep it charging and one time the battery got loose and stopped my recording early, so still need to add a little solution to secure the battery in place better
