I would not pay the blokes brought in the gas bottles I would stop the ticket. They know the rules simple as that

I reckon you could give you customers who dropped the gas bottles an opportunity with the boxing ring. They could pick Harry or Richard and who ever wins gets to keep the load money. If they don't take the challenge money goes to local charity. We all know Richard as the best rib jabs ever 🥊🥊

The guys that dropped the gas bottles should be docked the whole load. Every reputable scrapper knows you can't discard gas bottles like that. Now you have incurred disposal fees that they should be responsible for.
my yard takes gas bottles if u knock the top off or cut the side to show them its empty..
Yup that's the only way. Make sure once you've taken the top off that the bottle is filled with water before cutting.
One of those gas bottles got punctured in hesselwoods metals in Sheffield flew across the yard & hit a customer in the face killing him instantly. Horrible ppl chucking out gas bottles for a few pence 😢

Don't pay the ticket for the gas bottles and charge them to dispose them
If the customer who dropped off the gas bottles were new to the depot then maybe charge them for the safe disposal and cut there ticket down, but if they’re regulars then the ticket should be cancelled as they know the rules and the risks involved, as not only would it cost the life of the crane driver and any other customers in the immediate facility, but would also cost the future lively hood of the business aswell, as could get shut down as no doubt the cost to repair the shredder would be more than the business makes in a financial year
They take the piss pal. No you shouldn't have to police what people drop at your site. Deffo wouldn't pay them for their whole load as it could have caused a catastrophic explosion which could have severely impacted your business. And they should be charged a handling fee for the bottles. I used to work in the scrap business in Preston so know the job inside out. 😊

If they were just in for the first time would haul them up deduct the price of bottles off ticket and disposal charge but if they were regulars would not pay the load and ban them

I would think it is an offence under H&S regulations to not dispose gas bottles in the correct manor ,I would deduct the cost of disposing them off the price to the customer.
Sealed containers ie gas bottles etc lead to Sealed containers ie coffins ⚰️

Gas bottles, some people are honestly so stupid... You should charge them 100% of the disposal fee plus a handling fee even if this ends up more than the cost of their ticket. If they want to kick off about it, ban them. I get people make mistakes but something like that has the potential to kill someone.
Regarding stainless steel, there are certain grades which are magnetic so the magnet test is not always accurate.

germany are the best for tools all the way up to actual crawler/ mobile cranes to excavators
with suff i think is steel i get a file and scrape it to see if its steel or is hiding another metal then use a Neodymium magnet, hahaha did he try and get that away with copper or something hahah.
people would try and bring compressed gass cylinders to site wwwwaaawwww you should penelty them for safe removal of them minus the weight they had but pay the rest and warn them they do it again they are banned from going to your yard due to possible saftey concerns, you cant take fridges with compressers in, so why take them

If was me I wouldn’t pay them at all because they are not just putting you employees at risk with the explosion of gas bottles they are putting other people in the area and the fire fighters who have to deal with the fire . Specially when it clearly signs posted on the wall . Great videos Guy’s 🫶🏻
