Seeing Sam Lake have a huge grin on his face as he was dancing at the end made me so happy. This performance felt like the culmination of everything him and his team have been working on for the past two decades. We need more teams like Remedy who are willing to push the boundaries in gaming to give us chances to see performances like this.
But **how dare they** make the game unplayable tech for everybody else, it's SO unoptimized! /sarcasm

Loved everything about this. I'm so happy Alan Wake 2 exists. I'm so happy this song exists. It's goofy, yes but they are having so much fun here and the passion that went into making this game. It's brilliant.

Seeing Sam Lake having the time of his life makes me happy, well deserved praise this game gets.
As far as I'm concerned, this was Sam Lake and the AW2 team doing a well-deserved victory dance.
Shame AW2 didn't win GOTY, but man, this performance was easily the best thing about the whole show.
Remedy still got a ton of recognition, best game direction, Art, and Narrative. All amazing achievements

BG3 is a 10/10 Masterpiece, but for me Alan Wake 2 deserved the GOTY for it´s innovation and creativity. It´s a wonderful experience.

As a Finnish person, seeing Sam Lake dancing away on stage and winning the award for the best game director of the year, ascended me. And man is he humble!
Obsessed with the equal focus on both Ikka and Matt. Voice & body are just as important as each other and Sam Lake does it beautifully. Without both of them, there is no Alan Wake. What an amazing game.

Most games you already know what to expect, if it's a horror, you expect dark rooms and jump scares, if it's action, you expect to go shooting from point a to point b, and so on, but with Alan wake 2, you truly don't know what to expect next, be it a jump scare, a plot twist, a action sequence, a runaway, a musical, and everything DO make sense in the game, it's truly unique
Honestly the best part of the game awards. This year's GA felt like jist a bunch of ads strung together by rushed acceptance speeches. This performance had actual passion behind it and showed what games companies are capable of.
Sam Lake will always be the best game director.

I'm glad BG3 won game of the year. However, Alan Wake 2 deserves significant praise this year. They took a genre that doesn't have much attention and made a truly unique and amazing game. 2023 has been such a great year for gamers. You can tell how much love the developers put into these games.
