The symbiote saga to me requires as much care and buildup as the Infinity saga to truly do that story arc justice. Peter Parker wore the black suit exclusively for a few years in the comics before Venom was even introduced. Trying to tell that story in a 2 hour long film or 24 hour game just never works out. The 90’s Animated Series and Spectacular Spider-Man have both done the symbiote arc way better due to them having more time to develop characters in their shows.
Personally when it comes to the symbiote arc, don't continue using what happened in the '94 cartoon. Stop letting Peter get aggressive with it. It's over used and it's now personally getting annoying to see in all media when it comes to it.

IMO that it is easily possible to make an engaging symbiote story, with about a 2 hour long arc for it, I say 2 hour arc specifaclly for the symbiote suit, because the game story was much longer than 2 hours, more like 13 or so. To me the animated series did it well, and so did Insmoniac, was it at it's highest potential? No, But was it still good? I'd say it was, Peter relationship with Harry was good, seeing him become more ruthless was good, seing him try to take down Kraven was good, his fight with Miles was also good, the voice acting was top notch, the deisgns were great, and lets not forget it isn't over. Also the symbiote suit in the comics wasn't really thought out yet, not untill mcfarland came in, which is why he wore it so long, originally it was supposed to be a color change, because Marvel liked the concept given by a fan.
ssm symbiotic arc is extremely overrated honestly eddies turn is very drastic i feel like usm show handled it better and introduced agent venom as well
@@naolerena3193 well, Eddie was supposed to have a redemption arc in Spectacular but the show got cancelled before that could happen. So all we’re left with is the villain arc and I think that side of Venom was handled quite well in that show.
It doesn't help that the Spider-Man 2 defenders make this game their entire personality but have very little media literacy of other Spider-Man stories.

Yeah and they get super mad if you just say "Hey will there be DLC?" or even the people who criticized the face scans and motion capture, etc. They just get really mad that you don't slurp up every facet of the game.

@@umanitalksI think my issue with that is just how unlike their hero a lot of those people are. It's like they don't actually understand why Spider-Man is supposed to be a special character, at least from the way a lot of these people act.
@@DegenerateJay the thing is a lot of us just want the game to be the best it can be if they had more content and fun side activities even a couple races for traversal mastery that maybe unlocks a different skill or move would be great we don’t even get the semi race droid missions anymore just the ones with the wingsuit and many people think we just think the game is trash when in reality it’s not but it should have been rivaling Arkham city they had everything set out to do that but instead had to rush partly blame Sony but short have cut mj missions for more venom and main characters development
New raimi suit looks better. But this game is seriously lacking actual content. No combat challenges, no new combat animations of any kind outside of the abilities, 300 mill probably just went to them fleshing out the city hopefully the last one actually takes advantage and adds dynamic boss battles in the streets bring back chase missions as crimes , maybe a combat gauntlet allow us to fight waves or literally anything. People defending it because they don’t like side content when a lot of us who still play would have loved some sort of replayability that isn’t really there this time around. I 100 percent agree with every point you made. They need to give insomniac 6 years at least I love fit more at launch because I love Spider-Man but the post nut clarity hit very very hard
It’s the fact that the first game had far more variety in its missions and gameplay overall, besides swinging and skills obviously.
Like the second game, as much as I love it, just feels like “swing till here, beat some guys, swing away and maybe press ONE button to o stop a chase”.

I understand not every game has to be GTA length but it was way to short with the symbiote I wanted to have it for atleast 6 hours of story and strong writing but we get none?
We get one scene of Peter being a prick and then he goes full monster mode it doesn’t feel natural. I was hoping it would slowly make him more aggressive and make him actually kill someone.
They played it so goddam safe that it’s embarrassing that Sam Raimi actually pulled it off better and people said that version was the worst

Ngl, I don't really like this portrayal of Kraven. Taskmaster from the last game is kinda what I wanted him to be. A lone warrior, studying our moves and fight patterns, and ultimately hunting us down. Him having an army felt so out of character.

@@trevorphilips9065 how about Alistair Smythe? He's a famed robotics expert that could've been hired by Norman as a candidate to find a cure for Harry. Since he's a robotics scientist, why not make androids or anti-spider bots while we're at it. Bots that can emit sonic sensors to eliminate Symbiote option (not that it's possible to begin with since the symbiote abilities are mixed in with Peter's normal abilities).
@@trevorphilips9065 there's a lot of possibilities here. Kraven's role in this is because he wants to die fighting. Not even because of the thrill of the hunt, but purely because of a suicidal fantasy. That's stupid.
I'd rather it'd be like a situation where Harry does kill someone and gets their just desserts for it. Maybe Smythe experimented on Harry or the symbiote with the excuse of "evolution" or "progress"
I honestly found this game to be a disappointment, i wasn't looking to hate this game as spider man ps4 is one of favourite games. But having said that, this feels more like an expansion than a true sequel.

As hype as I was for SM2 and counting down the days to launch I only had any excitement for the venom parts of the game other than that the entire game was a drag and I cant even complete NG+ and I’ve completed the first game multiple times and even got the platinum twice for it on ps4 and the remaster
Honestly I believe you are spoiled, how exaclty is this game only an expansion? it literally adds tons from it's previous title, soonpeople will say this was game was great, youtubers will talk about how they should've reviewd the game more fair, there will be people speaking of all the great improvements, and you know when that will happen? When the third game releases.

I wasn't a fan of trying so hard to make their Venom plotline different by making it Harry and doing it so quickly.

While I do kinda agree with that, I’m also a fan of how they went all out with this game and included way more stuff than I thought they would, especially going with Venom’s King in Black thing
I also was not a fan of that. It felt like the issues that a movie like TASM 2 had.
I didn’t mind Harry as Venom as I felt it worked well in this universe, but I do agree that the entire storyline was rushed.
My biggest issue was how they handled Venom as the main villain with him trying to take over the world. To me, Venom works best as a villain turned anti-hero, but given his actions in the story I’m not sure how they could redeem Venom in a possible spin-off game now.
The more I play Spider-Man 2 the more I find wrong with it. When I first played it, I was on the hype train thought it was worth game of the year. When I played it again when new game plus came out, I noticed how many times Peter got ragdolled or nearly died, next play through I noticed how Miles was feeling left out and unneeded and how it was never really addressed in the story. Just beat after beat I noticed was either missing or just poorly executed.
For having an entire section devoted to music, the games story didn't have any rhythm.
Li and Miles should've had their own story from Peter where Li teams up with other inmates or Just regular street criminals, until Miles confronted him, they advertised the game as two Spider-Man but it's really just Peter's story ft Miles,

@@no.1spidey-fan182 TBH, i'm worried about SM 3, the only villains they got left are Green Goblin and Carnage. Carnage is not exactly known for his depth and the way they wrote Norman is previous games is not any different from Doc Ock or Harry.

My Man chose to speak a very controversial truth here and honestly i do have to agree with this. Despite the weird arkham tank here. The Arkham series had great pacing with each other and i always come back to playing each of the arkham games but when it comes to Spiderman, only Spiderman ps4 is the only one i replay again.
I think a lot of suits look like ass (including most of the update suits) and the third act could’ve used a little more refinement, but my biggest gripe with the game is how there isn’t single player DLC yet.
This game has been out since like, what, October? And the first update for the game that improved on a lot of it’s initial problems came out in March. That’s 6 months apart! And then another one that added some more not-so-good suits came out 3 months later in June.
Like I’m genuinely worried Insomniac will just skip out on additional content for this game just to jump to Wolverine or the Venom spin-off, kind of like how Nintendo skipped out on Tears Of The Kingdom DLC, or how Rockstar skipped out on RDR2 and GTAV DLC.
Y’know, speaking of this Venom spin-off, couldn’t they just make that DLC for this game? All they really have to do is add some additional coding to the Venom you play as in the Oscorp mission. Then you could give him his own swinging mechanics, on top of his own skins, missions and side content. Hell, it might also be possible that the Symbiote somehow finds it’s way to Eddie Brock, and they reveal additional backstory on how Peter even knows who he is, unless if they decide to make it revive Harry again from his coma.

I’m not sure if this is true as I would have to find the source but from what I read the DLC for the first spider-man wasn’t received as well so when the miles morales game came out it was a stand-alone game. So it’s possible that the sales for the DLC affected them possibly doing DLC for Spider-Man 2 and instead will probably just make a standalone game. Maybe those storylines could be concluded in the supposed venom spin off to try to maximize sales instead of releasing the story in pieces like the city that never sleeps dlc. I personally didn’t like the story dlc for the first spider-man game. Having hammerhead be the main villain just didn’t work for me personally. But what I said about the sales figures for the DLC might not be true there could have been many other reasons.
As someone who loves Spiderman 2, I agree with a majority of your points. However I do want to point out that GOW Ragnarock also didnt have NG+ until later. This is intentional of course to continue engagement. However, I do believe it has to do more with Sony and not insomniac holding it back at least IMO. I agree with most of your points disagree with some but I do also feel that I cant be excited for DLC because we dont know much. I do think insomniacs are listening considering the number of quality-of-life changes they made i also wonder how much is in their control.

The Peter B suit is definitely up there now that it's in the game, but the Classic Symbiote Suit is almost perfect in this game.
I like this game but I wanted to love it. As is I think it's fine and it's a good game but this story was really meh compared to both of their previous outings. At least MJ wasn't annoying anymore.
Yeah, MJ was definitely a step up personality wise. I still don't like basically making her Lois Lane though up to this point.

While I'm not a huge fan of this game compared to the others, I do remember God of War Ragnarok also took forever to release more content, so it might be a Sony thing.

Crazy how that is very common gor games, crazy how elden ring nor any other story expansion dlc doesn't get criticized for taking time, but guess we need to get on insomniac for doing, stop being annoying, and play some other things lol, just wait for the higher quality profuct, instead of rushing them for less.

Edit: I'm an absolute simp for the Advanced Suit 2.0 and the Upgraded Suit, easily my favorite suits.
I think the “leaked dlc” is just more cut content they forgot to remove from the files. I think they’re putting all their eggs in the Venom spinoff basket along with Spider-Man 3
I honestly prefer the Advanced suit 1.0 design wise but the orange color on that suit was always what held it back for me.

Nah bro we long over due for some DLC for the game, we got DLC for the first game like a month after it came out….we’re like 7-8 months after launch with no post content at all.. other than a few horrendous suits. I think we might just have to wait for another 2+ years to see what happens 🤷🏽♂️
I after much fuss got to NG+, and it was more fun than I anticipated. I didn't expect to like it but some things still felt rushed, especially after the Kraven Death.
It made me think: "Damn, that's it?"
If Insomniac wasn't rushed by Sony for them to get another exclusive to put in the game awards, then I feel it would've been much much better.
Precisely. Apparently, Insomniac was supposed to have received an extra year to work on the game, which means Spider-Man would have seen its release this year in place of what we got.
My favorite suit in Spider-Man 2 is the black suit & the secret wars black suit. I honestly hate the suits insomniac make that are not from the comics. They look so bland or terrible. Still waiting for the DLC. Thanks for the vid Jay God bless you brother.
My favorite Spider-Man 2 suit would probably be the Sam Rami black suit. Although I also liked Miles’ hooded suit with the cargo pants. It kind of looked like Red Hood from Arkham Knight.
I like Spiderman 2 but people called it a masterpiece to quickly its a good sequel but it doesnt even come close to topping the first game story wise. I hate the swinging in this game but the web wings wasnt something I expected to enjoy

My favorite alternate suit for Peter is the Last Stand suit. I love the street level look for it. And for Miles, I personally love the Purple Reign suit cuz I love the colors.
Damn this game came out 8 months ago already, i remember being so excited for it and when i played it it was a good and fun game but it didnt live up to exactly what i was hoping, i dont know if id say i was disappointed but maybe slightly let down by some aspects. But im still very excited for the 3rd main installment and i hope its the best one yet if sony isnt being assholes trying to rush it out
I think what really made this a lackluster sequel was the story. Everything about the writing felt safe, which is especially a problem for the black suit/Venom arc since that's the last thing you want to be safe with. I actually don't think the problem was the black suit arc being as short as it was or having Kraven and Venom in the same story. I think the just executed it in a pretty bad way, which sucks since I think the story was close to being pretty good. I also do have ideas on how Insomniac Venom could've been really good without diverging from what we got, although I'm not sure if I should share them here. But the point is if they were more bold and do something like explore Peter's inner dark side, it would've made the game way better.
It’s definitely more on the simple side, but the Boricua suit for Miles is a favorite of mine. It was a pretty cool inclusion, and when I sent my Dad a picture of the suit, he liked it so much that he wanted to give the game a try. We’re Puerto Rican, and there aren’t too many custom outfits in games with the flag as a major design element, so it was an instant hit for the two of us.

to asnwer the question, as of right now my favorite suit is a tie between Miles' 10th anniversary suit and the updated raimi suit are absolutely beautiful, though if they added the Ben Reilly Sensational Spider-Man suit, then that would dethrone the raimi suit for me
I think the game was great, but they released basically Spidey Arkham City so Spidey 2 was always going to end up Arkham Knight comparatively. But people had hopes for an Arkham City 2 essentially.

My favorite suit in the whole game is definitely the Raimi suit. I mean, come on. Need I say more?
Now, when it comes to potential dlc for this game in regards to those beetle missions, we're unsure if that's even going to be the dlc. I mean, it's possible that this whole thing is just a cut part of the game. It's possible that the beetle was gonna play a role in the game at some point originally, but ended up getting scrapped. We don't know.
I just recently got the game yesterday, and I've been enjoying myself just cause I wanna chill after work. I do think people who think this is the peak of Sony's exclusives and or games themselves are fooling themselves. Overall I can't wait to fight Kraven, and I have loved the small details so far.
My favorite suit is the final no way home suit. I think the team for Spider-man 2 had there expectations set way too high. Because if you remember they wanted to add the mechanic of being thrown to another wall onto the streets making the fights feel grand

I think we’re finally at the point where our videogames look like Sam rami’s cgi in the early 2000’s. Like I rewatched the original trilogy today and it felt like playing the videogame at certain scenes but like if I was playing on a low end pc
Biggest issue I can take from the game is the lack of risk! If you played Arkham Knights, it wasn’t the best in terms of depth but I won’t lie when I say the risk factor to save civilians is definitely there. It’s not one of those if the civilians die you start over either, it’s “ohhh they’re done, finish the mission still or leave the location be better next time”…. Spider-Man just feels like npc civilians are just there because we know people live in NY but play no actual role in protecting the city…. Also I would say they should aim to make fighting actual human enemies more realistic, like if I punch him one good time he knocks out and others might keep fighting. Make it more challenging to get consistent knockouts instead of constant punching/button mashing to get a knock out. Let it be more of,a flow and as if I’m Spider-Man not just a game you attack and block/parry
Honestly overall Spider-Man 2 sucked it was only ok because it was Spider-Man. The story was ass Peter got emasculated time n time again, no content and a rushed story
The only thing I think Sony did well was to cancel the multiplayer project which is where the money probably went
I feel like the first one was so great that the expectations for the sequel were very high. Sadly it didn’t meet those expectations. The story felt kind of short since they had to include both miles and peter’s stories/perspectives. If they had made the game longer then i think this could’ve worked out or at least give the writers solid space to do both characters justice. It’s still a good game but not as good as the first one in terms of story.
I actually didn’t notice the issues with Venom at all. In fact, the pacing was really good in my opinion. My view on this (and why I think the game has been criticized a lot recently) is that Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales were pretty much perfect. How do you follow up with that?? Spider-Man 2 is pretty similar with a few additional elements to the gameplay
At first, I really liked this game. I would defend it to hell and back. But now, after having a lot of time to think about the game... I don't really like it... and I hate saying that because I loved the first game and Miles Morales... The story of this game wasn't very good, to me. I'm amongst the crowd that thinks that Peter was nerfed in this game, and I don't really like the pacing of the story. Also, You have nothing to do after you finish everything aside from stopping crimes, and you can't replay story missions or enemy bases, and that's frustrating to me, because after doing all that, the world feels... _empty._ I also had a hard time with taking down enemies in this game when I felt like I shouldn't have when I replayed both the first game and Miles Morales just days before this game came out. Especially the Symbiote enemies, which I HATED trying to fight, even though I was on one of the easier difficulties of the game.
All things considered, I just...don't like Spider-Man 2 that much, if at all, and I won't be checking out Wolverine or Spider-Man 3.

Alot of money was wasted on advertising. I remember seeing the same spiderman 2 ad on youtube 4-5 times in 30 mins. That's just overkill. Any fan of spiderman was going to know the game was coming out anyway

I never wanted Insomniac to just be “The Marvel Studio”. I don’t think it’s fair to the developers to stretch them very thin and restrict them to just super hero games. I’m a big Spider-Man fan but this kind of practice will only hurt the games in my opinion.

Have had a ps5 since launch that's worked fine, then when I tried downloading sm2 in October, as soon as it hit 36% it completely crashed the console like It did for a lot of ppl it seems online

The bad thing about the game is at first you play it probably 2 times and then it just dies out at least for me, there’s nothing keeping me interested even the new dlc that they just stopped with the suits I didn’t even bother giving a shit it’s stuff I’ve seen before. I’ve already deleted it off my ps5 dashboard because it was just collecting digital dust
I may be the first one to say this but marvels Spider-Man 2 has really died out since release man. Feels like this game went 2 steps back compared to the first game. Swinging/ combat wise they taken stuffs out which angered me and also they didn’t go beyond in that aspect. The game has been out for 7 MONTHS….. and still no dlc and ppl wonder why the game is dying. I got bored of this game cuz it didn’t have that replay value like it did the first gam. Also another reason why this game is dead is cuz the symbiote plays the exact same way as the other regular suits (apart from surge) but outside of that it’s the same combat/ dodge/ swing animations and the finishers… you can’t even morph into the symbiote in the game🤦🏾♂️ it don’t feel different when wearing it cuz it doesn’t play different. Insomniac really let me down
Personally in my opinion with this game, its good. But at the same time, there were some things that should've been better. This game in a way reminded me of Spider-Man 3 (how the story was planned out). Imagine this, kravin is the equivalent to sandman in Spider-Man 3 (besides the other villains) and well venom is about the same as well with how short he is as well when it came to marketing and what really happens in the film/game. Venom is to much "symbiote" and not enough what makes "Venom" who Venom is. Venom shouldn't just be this "Hulking, symbiote based villain" let him use webs. Allow him to be "invisible" to Spider-Man's Spider-sense. Make him go invisible in general. Those are key aspects of the character that they don't do anymore which annoys me. Another thing that annoys me when it comes to venom is how the symbiote HAS to make the user more aggressive or more angrier. Here's a fun fact that people believe is true when its not, the symbiote was NEVER and i repeat NEVER aggressive when it first came out in the comics. It got aggressive by Eddies hatred and being rejected by Spider-Man. Since the '94 cartoon, all of that changed and now its over used and personally, annoying to see all the time across all media. They should really do their research with these characters from the BEGINNING. And not just use recent stuff. I understand wanting to use harry as the host of venom but add a better spin to it and if your going to market venom as the biggest bad of the game or whatever, then do that instead of doing this all the time in media. I believe they should've went more of the route of web of shadows for some of the mechanics as well since it would make more sense and actually use fire as a weakness to venom cause that's been apart of the lore of the character for so long. But these are my opinions on it.

You forget about the politics that were thrown into the game. It's one of the reasons that people aren't really too excited for Wolverine. Instead of spending time on politics, they could've refined more elements of the game. Yet, they let Sweetbaby Inc touch it. Shame really.

So, I'm mixed on this Jau, I usually am right there with ya but, I actually think Spider-Man 2 did exceed expectations least for me. From the King in Black venom, to the black suit, to kraken all of it. I was very happy with the game.

My top suit for Peter is the 3rd Black & Blue style for the Fantastic 4 suit and the Black & Red style for the Track suit for Miles
This game is almost like an amalgamation of spider-man ps4 and Miles Morales, both good and bad. The game sets up Peter and Miles’s stories well where Miles has to confront Martin Li the man who killed his father and Peter has to fight his dying best friend who’s trying to take over the world. The problem is how these characters are explored and the balancing of these villains.
Miles is forced to meander until he fights Li and then near the end of the game when he teams up with Li, those are the highlights of Miles’s story in this game. Harry is too underdeveloped to make the audience really care for him and is almost a carbon copy of Phin except his evil actions are caused by venom rather than his desire for revenge on someone. This is because the game is split between miles’s world and peter’s. Their worlds only ever intersect because of spiderman and that’s about it. This is why the stories feel disjointed and stitched together.
Kraven is disserviced by the story as he doesn’t really have anything interesting going for him. He’s not the antihero of stas and he’s not the villain of the comics, he only goes after the sinister six and that’s it. There’s no previous history between him and peter, there’s no point where Kraven is building up to fight either of the spiderman and he’s not much of a presence in the game. His feats are him killing the villains off screen and scorpion with a stab wound in the gut with his own tail which is more anticlimactic than it sounds. He just doesn’t do much to progress the story.
When venom becomes a villain it causes the story to go into over drive where there’s a “take over the world” plot and venom kills kraven in a narratively unsatisfying way just like the other dead villains. Venom feels really hollow and lacks a lot of what makes him appealing in the comics.
The flame side missions should’ve been a part 1 of a multi-part dlc for carnage like how the ps4 dlc was done.
The game should’ve focused on Miles and Peter trying to stop Kraven from hunting the villains where they team up with the villains to fight off kraven, but in the end he kills the villain. It shows peter and Miles actually try to help the villains instead of just telling the player that. Have kraven be the one who hired taskmaster and have kraven kill him to show how dangerous he is. Kraven should also chase after wraith and prowler because it’s weird he goes after black cat but not them. Harry should be more careless and immature because he’s been in that tube for at least a year and in that time peter has grown up and lived his life, that should start the rift that pete and harry have and it’s widened because pete is constantly leaving harry behind to be spiderman with miles, this develops harry’s jealousy of miles. Have mj worry about peter leaving to risk his life instead of upset that she has to support both of them financially because she understands that peter is saving new york when he leaves , this is because kraven is a lot more deadly than Peter’s other villains. Have harry be a hero longer than he is and maybe his mistakes cost the lives of the villains the spider bros are trying to save this causes peter to tell harry to stay behind on missions giving more fuel to harry’s fire. Have Kraven be venom, it’s a really cool concept that doesn’t just throw away the starting villains that the games tend to do, this elevates kraven as well as giving venom the spotlight in the game. Peter has to fight kravenom to get the symbiote from to harry who’s dying without it. In the end peter is forced to either destroy the symbiote or contain it to save harry from being twisted by its effects and this will lead to harry to take the experimental g formula which turns him into the green goblin, because his father is too old to be fighting spiderman and harry still has a grudge against peter and miles.
These would improve the story imo and be more narratively satisfying compared to what we have currently. Here’s hoping Sony learns their lesson of rushing out undercooked products (they won’t).
Honestly this isn’t a surprise with everything going on around the game overall still we don’t know if we are even going to get the DLC expansion right now who know at this point Insomniac is definitely in a weird unfortunately spot with part of this game I like and also don’t like in it all make me very cautious optimistic for Insomniac in the future with upcoming games from them just my thought here
the advanced suit 2.0
I've never gone to having so much interest for a game pre release to just not carrying anymore post release. spidey 2 is not bad by any means but for whatever reason I have no urge to replay it. The pacing issues of the story make it clear it was rushed. A lot of the side quests weren't as good or as memorable of the first game. Graphically speaking the game looked amazing and the gameplay itself was crisp but IDK. I just don't care anymore. I understand the hacking thing played a big part in whatever plans they had for Post game DLC but giving us the silent treatment is like out of sight out of mind. I considered uninstalling the game the other day. Just curious if anyone else is at a point they just don't care about this game anymore.
This whole game should of just been about Miles and Peter with Peter wearing the symbiote suit for a good bit of the game and then in the 3rd game bring Venom in

Idk I'm probably not gonna buy or play the next one. Spiderman 2 was really boring, I like the swinging and gliding but I didn't get attached to the story this time or any of the side stuff like I did in the first one. Also some of the side quests where odd.
Great video Jay and I enjoyed your and Jill let play on this game so I just finished the main story on this game myself a week ago and I just 100 percent all of the district a couple of days ago so I put multiple hours in this game and I really do like this game but I agree they are things they could of done better like I feel like the thrid act feel too short and I feel like they should of made the game longer as to give the black suit and Vermon more time some of the side missions could of add more to the story and the MJ mission are still not great but this game is pretty to look at and fun to play and I did enjoy my time with it and I enjoy the story for the most part and to answer your question Jay my favorite suit in this game is the Bodega cat suit for miles I use it for him for most of the game but I still have hope they will release a dlc for this game
I just got done with the game not too long ago. I agree with your points as far as the swinging is cool the web gliding is a nice touch and the symbiote affects is really cool I just felt like the ending was kind of rushed Am I the only one that feels like the ending was rushed.
I don't know what's going on over at Insomniac. They take months to add the smallest of updates, and each update introduces new bugs, they add horrendously ugly suits nobody wants, they keep insisting Miles and Peter need the same amount of suits which is a terrible handicap for Peter, there's no news on DLC. As much as I love Spider-Man 2, its kind of dragged down Insomniac's reputation a bit.
For Peter the secret war civil war suit (4th variant) and the final swing suit for miles the 10th anniversary suit and the 4th variant of the uptown pride suit

After the Venom Times Square fight, the game goes into overload with the rushing and pacing. It takes what should have been half the game and makes it into a two hour finale
Yeah the second half game felt a bit rushed. Definitely a flaw but still I have to say insomniac did handle it pretty well. It’s still a great story and I think it’s a bit better than the first one. I love how they handled The friendship between Harry and Peter, Kravens arc, Miles temptation with vengeance, and the cherry on top, MJ isn’t irritating anymore. I despised her attitude in the first game. It’s still a 9/10 for me.

For me, this game is not just bad shit game, it's like a poison. Yeah, it looks good, it plays kinda fun (especially missions where Peter handle things alone like Lizard missions or like most of them in the first game), but story... It's really a poison for adequate Spidey fan. Like, seeing how a superhero veteran Peter Parker couldn't handle problems himself without Miles, MJ or even Harry, like he do in first game is so painful. So, for me there's two huge problems with plot: wokeness and villains

The most likely explanation for what’s going on is that when the SM2 game began Predevelopment Insomniac had already started implementing possible future SP DLC’s into the very first build of the game but with Sony’s Executives riding high on Insomniac’s Success wanted to capitalise on that success as much as possible & as usual have gotten in their own way yet again by making poor Insomniac immediately start working triple overtime on multiple other projects all at the same time.
So Insomniac puts the SP DLC development on the back burner for the time being then as the SM2 was halfway towards the finish line work ramped up for the Wolverine project & the Live Service Spiderverse Game was cancelled which costed Insomniac & Sony more or less 200 of the $300.000 they claimed was Spent on SM2. So consequently Sony couldn’t afford divert any further resources & funds towards the SM2 Project which unfortunately resulted in the planned SP DLC’s being Cancelled outright.
But Thankfully because the Suit Brand Deal DLC’s contracts have already been signed & publicly announced by that point Sony couldn’t just go back on that deal to cut more costs.
What’s most likely to happen going forward is that all of the Planned SM2 SP DLC is going to be all bundled together into the Spontaneously Greenlit Venom Project since it’s technically officially classified as a separate project that will guarantee a greater marketing return on their investment than the original previously estimated next to *NO RETURN* on their DLC SP Investment development costs since it was probably planned to originally be released for Free which Sony can’t afford to do anymore due to spreading Insomniac way too thin with little results that have costed them money they don’t have.
So long story short we seemingly may have lost the planned SP DLC but we are going to get the same content & resources repurposed, and re-used for the solo venom game as a consolation prize which is the best case scenario for this hole Sony’s dug themselves into.
I hope I’m wrong & Insomniac announces SM2 SP DLC sometime in the not too distant future but that realistically is still very unlikely. 😢
I love the game, but I do agree that there were some problems with it. The side missions were a hit and miss for me. Most of them were great but the miles side missions were not so much.
The stealth was a step down for me, while I thought MJ was a step up improvement, but didn't like the stealth missions with her. That was one of my criticism with the first game one was the unnecessary MJ stealth missions. And it seems like they went let's for no reason have her going up against Kraven's Hunter and symbiotes. At first I was very skeptical when they announce that Harry was going to be venom, my worries were that it was gonna get convoluted. While it didn't feel muddle and convoluted I thought it would, but some of changes they made to venom's origin were a little questionable. I didn't like how Harry found out that Peter was Spider-Man, it weird and dumb. While I love Miles story arc, but I thought he was a little underused, and I also didn't like his new suit. I love Kraven but wanted more of him
Gameplay is top tier of the series. The first third of the store was great. The last two acts were rushed and the game was unfinished which lead to poor reception and frustration. I am one of them and it bums be out because Spidey is my favorite hero of all time and I LOVE the first outing as well as the Miles game. Miles would have been perfect had it been longer. That was my only gripe with his game.

I Pre ordered the game. Played and 100% the game in a week. Put it down waiting for DLC. DLC Trailer for 80’s tracksuits come out. Disappointed. Trailer for DLC suits from the first game drops. Disappointed again. Trailer for spider verse game leaks and found out it got cancelled. Deleted the game immediately. I really hope the wolverine leaks were just tests an- why does jean grey look like mary jane from spiderman 2? Oh no its happening again….
The game is awesome but it has a lot of bugs and glitches every side mission I did I never got the suit award 😢 the company needs to fix these problems overall I love this game
Tbh, I haven’t played this game yet and I’m really not in a huge rush to play it. I’m more interested in playing FF7 Rebirth than Spider-Man 2. The trailers basically gave away the whole part and once the honeymoon phase of “OHMIGOD BULLY LOWENTHAL!!!!” wore off I just found myself not caring as much. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero and I loved the first 2 games but for some reason I grew less excited with this one.
If there is anything, I'm more tired of in the Triple A space concerning superheros is the focus on realism, and not a solid art direction. I'd kill to have another Spider-man game in vain of Ultimate Spiderman and Spiderman Shattered Dimensions. With gameplay being a focus and less of a cinematic experience.
I enjoyed the first Insomnic Spider-man, but i always thought that this series was limiting itself in gameplay depth, but atleast it made up in story. But when I saw Spiderman 2, and heard of the story being weaker than one. It didnt excite me enough to buy it as I felt like it was a glorified expansion.
Same issue with God of War & God of War Ragnorok.

If you were to ask me, a guy who has been a Spidey fan for years who has read the comics, played several of the games, watched all the movies (except for ATSV), and has done endless amounts of research into the character, I'd say this game is up there with OMD as being one of the worst things to happen to Peter.
The narrative of this game is so insulting and only serves to shove Peter aside for Miles, his shoddy replacment (who can't even keep his own series going).
I gave up after the Black Cat mission and checked the game out online, and I am so glad I stopped when I did.
From now on, I'm sticking with old school gaming.
TBH Insomniac actually did a terrible job with Miles, his spin-off game was a recycle of the first game plot but with 2 of the worst villains in gaming history, his "original" suit is just product endorsement, he lacks a decent villain so they gave Peter's villains for him

For me, every PlayStation Spider-Man game is GOOD. I would say that Spider-Man PS4 was 5/5. Miles Morales was 4.5/5. And Spider-Man 2 was 4/5. There’s something each game does better than the other games. Like the swinging is definitely best in Spider-Man 2 (even if it does sometimes feel like a flight-simulator with its web-wing glitches). Miles Morales obviously feels the most seasonal being a Christmas game. Winter Wonderland NYC is AWESOME to swing through. But I genuinely feel like the PS4 game is the most timeless.
I honestly think the best part of these games is being Spider-Man and interacting with New York City as Spider-Man. All the games did a great job with that, so I was very happy while playing all of them. But I agree that Spider-Man 2 felt a little too rushed. They wanted to do so much. It felt overwhelming. I don’t really mind instant fast-travel. It kind of makes the city feel smaller to me. Plus, I really like the subway loading system in the first two games.
Having lived in New York when I played the PS4 game, that was the most immersive and surreal gaming experience of my life. I would start and stop playing on the rooftop of my building, and that game remembers your exact location from where you left off (unlike Spider-Man 2). Things would happen in my real life that would line up with the game. Like I would go to Chelsea Market one day, and then while I’m playing at night, I’d have to go as Spidey too. It was just so crazy. It'll forever make it one of my favorite games of all time. Talk about feeeeeling like Spider-Man. I love how adult that one is too. It feels serious, Peter is older, heck… there are even side-missions to make New York more environmentally friendly. But it never loses the humor or lightheartedness Spider-Man is supposed to have either. I could go on about the first game forever.
One last thing, though. I know it’s been said to death, but I really do feel like they should just change Peter's face back. Whenever I saw the new face model in Spider-Man 2, it really did take me out of the game. It just didn’t feel like the same person as the first game for me.
All they had to do was drop a game like the first one not take stuff away just ADD MORE to swinging and combat !! Thats it!!! No pushed woke stuff, some scenes being really forced and cringe. Idk this game just didnt hit for me as much as the other 2 maybe its because i had to high expectations it ruined it but at the same time the first two games felt like real spiderman games. U worked with police, did actual friendly neighborhood spiderman stuff, no pushed agendas. Just was great this game so so unfinished and just pushed with propaganda

Honeslty most games are rushed, most concepts are left behind, and those thinhs aren't always talked about, because not all games get a data leak. Honeslty the game was great, does much better than most, there wasn;t a part where I felt board, the gameplay was nicem graphics, and voice acting, the story was really good, better than what most games do, better than some movies too. We have alot more coming to this game, more suits than we already have, more story, and more accessabilities. Also imo you are wrong about Venom being better in the movies, well atleast not objectively speaking, he sucked hard in that raimi movie, he was really really bad, infact he basically wasn;t a character in that movie, because venom had no voice in nothing. Tom hardy Venom is good, but he isn't better than insomniac, he just isn't a spiderman villain, he's waaay to comedic for a fresh venom, and the potential to it isn't as great compared to what Insom Venom has.
