- I know I'm a bit late to the topic of the LittleBigPlanet servers shutting down but, better late than never I guess. I can't believe it's gone. I mean hey at least we have Restitched to look forward to!

Little Big Planet 2 is still my favorite game to this day, it's easy to be someone's favorite game but maintaining that position for 12 years is hard but that game got too much soul put into it
As I've been saying for years, LBP2 will forever remain at the top of my list. Only the 2nd place and below have to compete.

This is sad and honestly depressing, to see Sony dunk on the game that saved them from the PS3 catastrophe. I hope we get to see LBP 4 one day
LBP2 was my fav childhood game, I have really fond memories of getting up to silly activities and creating random stuff that made no sense, I didn't know about restitched till now and looks amazing, I cant wait to play!
Actually all your levels aren't gone, someone was able to back up and archive every level made before Febuary 2023. Also, there's custom servers such as Refresh and Beacon (running on LittleBigRefresh and Project Lighthouse respectively) so you can use the online features again. Although it does require modding your PS3, in the case of Refresh there is an exploit being developed which allows your game to be patched to the custom servers without needed to jailbreak your console.

Damn, just bought this game today because lbp was my first and most played game on ps3 til I dropped it and moved on. I had no idea the servers were permanently down and feel dumb for not checking out the state of the game before mindlessly buying it. You’d think sony would’ve taken this game off the psn store to avoid having people buying an unplayable game.

Why not port/remaster the whole series, name it "LittleBigPlanet - Sackboy's Retold Adventures", and then have it be 40 dollars with whole new servers being made for the PC version
though with how LBP was made I doubt Sony would do that, because SABA seems to be the only game they want us to remember (even though that game is shit)

Very fun and creative series, first game I had on the ps3 also and ended up getting all the others apart from the racing one

I never really finished LBP3, and there was a reason. I had the first two games and these were the GOTY versions that had some of the best DLC included with it like MGS4 and Pirates of the Caribbean that had the water DLC. So all the DLC in the first game was compatible with the second. However when I got LBP3 for PS4 I discovered I no longer had access to this DLC. Apparently it works fine with the PS3 version, but because I have the PS4 version it won't carry over the GOTY DLC. The GOTY DLC is disc based, so you didn't have to download it, and because of this it seems it couldn't be carried over to the PS4 version. I pretty much felt robbed.
I finished game, but the same thing happened and it upset me.
I remember playing the entire trilogy at the tail end of its life. 2019 I think.
Going from 1 to 2. Carrying over my sack character clothes and texture. Then 2 to 3 (ps4). Carrying over that sackboys clothes and textures. Then at the final end I screen shoot a really good picture of sackboy with the combine clothes and other items of 3 different games.

I've experienced the same thing with a mobile game called "blocksworld" that was shut down in around 2014
it's not some scummy Minecraft clone or something but instead a really enjoyable social physics-based 3D sandbox game with a really dedicated fanbase with clans and other fun stuff. I don't think I'll be able to access any of my many old worlds that I poured my childhood into

Looking back, there were a lot of Mario and Sonic levels, and many others using IP's that they totally didn't have rights to. I'd be surprised to see something like that go by in 2024 :/

There are indeed custom servers available to play if you know how, and there is an archive of MOST of the community levels, I think it’s until about January 2023
So if you remember the level name, and you know how to get the levels into your game, you CAN play the levels.
It’s still not the same, though. Fuck you Sony.
RPCN revives the littlebigplanet games if your wondering but beware of the file mounting error.

6:16 Dislike for the hate towards Ratchet and Clank. The games of the series successfully combined the best features of multiple genres and excel in creative character and level design.
And the reason why R&C is still around is because insomniac was still interested in making them. Sucker Punch moved on from sly. And Media Molecule took LBPs creative ambitions and turned them up to 11 with dreams. Sony Tried to make those both of those franchise’s work without their original devs but Sly 4 and LBP 3 didn’t do so well critically. So Sony gave up trying to force it.
