- I have opened a discord server. Feel free to join! / discord You know what most anime has in common? They usually have an opening. They also usually have endings, but no one cares about those... But how many OPs do you know, or remember? Well lets put that to the test with this retro anime opening quiz. There's a total of 60 openings ranked by yours truly, from very easy all the way to very hard. And all the openings in question are gathered from old anime from the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s. See how many of them you know and don't forget to put your score in the comments!

Alright, today we're gonna have a bit of a Retro Anime OP Quiz. I've wanted to make this video for years at this point, but never did. Finally decided to actually go through with it. Let me know what you think, and don't forget to post your scores in the comments!
Finally ! An opening quizz that isn't just about animes that were created between 2000 and 2020
Yup. 90s and 2000s quizzes you can find a few off, but not many with OPs older than that
Introduced me to a lot of great openings here.
28/60 with another 5 that I "should have" had. Was thinking there'd be more from the 2000s based on the title, but I suppose the description does specify "early 2000s." Definitely appreciated seeing To Heart from 1999 in there, as I don't think I've seen any other YT quizzes feature it.

I normally prefer quizzes with newer stuff over retro, but I really like the selection of songs you used in this quiz. Lots of good songs I've never seen in almost any other quiz + actually challenging instead of the typical stuff like slam dunk and initial D in very hard! I wasn't keeping score, but I got somewhere around 55/60. Very good quiz! 🙂

I only got 20, but I have to say this is a really good selection compared to other quiz videos like this. The majority of these are shows I do want to watch. I actually had a feeling it was Casshern (but without the narration) at 1:22 and then I realized it would've been too early in the list for it.
I'm glad you liked it. Some OPs had to be changed for others in order to get around region blocking, but all in all I'm pretty happy with my own selection. Ranking them on the other hand was very hard and I changed my mind quite a few times on what OP belonged where

I only got 18 but you put the original Qutey Honey OP in the very hard section?! That song has some mileage they used it again a couple of times I would imagine people would know it. Haven't seen a video like this since the last anime convention we had - three years ago, yikes! Even with no restrictions because of covid, we just stopped having conventions here.
Technically a lot of the OPs in this are quite well known if you're into older anime. When deciding on what went where, I was mostly thinking from the general anime viewers point of view. But yeah, it definitely could have been in an earlier tier.
Some of the series in hard and very hard categories were the most famous and accessible anime in the West in the 80s and 90s.
Nice video even though I didn't know much (for some I knew the manga but not its opening) on the other hand as a French I was looking forward to Saint Seiya but in the end it wasn't there

Thank you for the awesome video, It's been a long long time since I tested my anime knowledge like this and it really shows I only got 3 with my first guess and only recognized 12 in all that I couldn't put my finger on the name
