    This guy is the true authority on Hillsborough. Thank god there were people like him to get to the bottom of the cover up that was Hillsborough. I have read his book The Truth which is also brilliant. Please read it.

    This man is one of the reasons I still hold some hope of pride in my country, he is what the ordinary people of this country are capable of against the awful power and lies of the state. Phil, alongside the incredible dignity of the Hillsborough families moves me to tears.

    If i'm hard on myself, I think I have too many 'heroes'. People who made great music, scored great goals, made a funny film, scored hundreds of runs etc. I need to trim the hero herd a bit. This man is staying in. I could sit and listen to him for hours on end. I read his book every year (making a point of starting it on 15 April) and if justice is ever finally done one day, then an overwhelming amount of credit should be directed his way. If I thought for one second he would accept it, he should indeed receive a long overdue knighthood.

    The tragedy is that so many innocent people died on that day. The scandal is the sustained institutional cover up that went on for so long after it. The fact that the lies were developed and continually sustained makes me extremely angry. The fact that it was done by police, media et al is just unbelievable. The courts should be chasing more than Duckenfield...

    They all knew. They all knew it was a pack of lies. Recent this morning program shows a survivor re united with the 16 year old lad who saved him. The man who saves him says it best, I wasn't a hero it's just what you do, there where 100s of hero's, and then he corrects his statement and says pretty much it's a shame all the hero's where Liverpool fans trying frantically to help each other and not the authorities that where meant to protect us

    • @mrkipling2201
      @mrkipling2201 Před 5 lety +1

      Stephen bubba b spot on. The Liverpool fans that day were all heroes, some of them ignoring their own injuries to help others less fortunate. Doing it in the face of obstruction from the police ( well most of them. There were a few who ignored the crap being fed to them by the higher up idiots and pitched in to help.) If it wasn’t for those heroes, I hate to think how many more people could have died.

    Celebrity and money from reporting other people's stories. Like Heysel he wasn't at Hillsborough, didn't go the game. Yet he is an expert. Its like suggesting a historian is more knowledgeable about a battle than a soldier who was involved fighting in it.

      Am I reading this correctly? Are you trying to imply the Phil Scraton, who was as integral as anyone or any institution in uncovering the truth behind Hillsborough, is doing so for fame and fortune? Do you know he refused an OBE for exactly that. He is a man of great honour and integrity. Your comment is actually very distasteful especially when you consider the subject matter that this man has dedicated much of his academic life to.
