I've done this timing belt service several times on SAAB 9-5 3.0 V6 as well as the Catera but I don't have the 30mm spanner wrench and cannot find one by itself in the USA. Difficult to adjust the idlers without the spanner wrench. I never have locked the Cams once the belt is on. I guess you are lucky as when I do this service, I almost always replace the water pump at the same time. Been burned too many times having it fail shortly after.

Normally I would of done the water pump at hhe same time but it's not that old. The belt was only done due to time it had been on over miles the car had covered. If you haven't had to lock the cams I'd say you were the lucky one as find they normally spring for me 🤣

@@WebstersWorkshop I do not lock the Cams once the belt is on since the belt holds them in place. I always lock them to R & R the Belt.

how did you remove the drivebelt tensioner? it's an absolute pain, i've tried but not having any luck as no working room

Yeah had to remove the belt tensioner. I was a complete nightmare but working for John deere we have courses that teach you how to dislocate your arm in 6 different places to reach these spots 🤣🤣 seriously though its easier to get from the top I've found.

@@WebstersWorkshop Bought a 11MM spanner and took it off that way, that was the worst thing to take off out of everything
