- In today's video I build a set of AMA legal studded tires for my Raptor. We had perfect weather and ice conditions. I'm super happy with how they turned out and I'm excited to have them for future ice rides or racing!

At first I thought, "It would be cool to see how much weight the studs added," then you weighed them. Then I thought, "it would be cool to see the condition of the ice after ripping on it," and then you showed it lol. Very cool video and awesome shots/edits.
Good contestants for the scale of doom!
Sabo always thinking about weight over here
Loved the predator build I have one my self
@Mnsnowmoblieboys glad you enjoyed that series man; I miss that quad
I ride my studded Outlaw on my local river. It’s basically like a frozen road course.
That looks awesome driving a four wheeler on ice
That edit was sick 🔥
The drone shot at 16:30 was phenomenal. Great work pete
Dude, EPIC video. From the time you took to get the studs lined up when installed, to the awesome quality of video. Kick Ass😀
Literally perfect timing! Love checking CZcams to see Pete posted 13 seconds ago lol looks like fun I’ll need to try it some day
I’d be scared as hell on ice but damn , sure would be fun!!!😎💪🇺🇸
Pete, you’re so nice that when you said “I need a break from doing the tires” most people would have had a different choice in words 😂. great video, SICK SHOTS AND EDITING!!!
Pete, Quad ice racer up here in Alaska, former, getting too old now. Advice...you don't need the nuts on the inside. I put them in my first set of tires I built, former champ told me a waste of time. Screws never came out, and usually take a week to leak down. Also, watch the Kold Kutters install video, you lean the screws back as you install them, so only one edge touch's the ice, both front and rear edge of screw on ice makes quad "skate" too much. Great corner speed comes from weighting the outside nerf as hard as you can, I would actually sit up off the seat about 1 inch and lift inside foot, pushing down outside foot, huge difference in speed. I made my own tire raps from old tires, cut sidewalls out, and cut the tire in half. Now you have 2 "C" shaped pieces, use 2 hose clamps to act as a hinge between them (much easier to install this way). And I used large copper wire to close and tighten them on the ice tires. NEVER let your screws touch anything but ice, they will dull on anything else, and you won't realize how much. If only racing ovals, you can stagger tire height left to right ALA sprint cars, incredible corner speed, but horrible starts if you wheelie off the line.
My hand is cramping just watching this lol
killer wheelies man, def going right!!
This video and other ice video are my favorite...thank you for such great content!!!💯🔥👍🏼👍🏼
That is sick haha I’d do something like what you did on my raptor, but we hardly get snow and ice where I live. Great video brother
Enjoyed watching the studding process!
Dude, nicks my best friend! Great guy to get advice from, basically all my videos are either him and I or him racing, glad to see you’re joining the ama stud gang!
That looks like fun
Now I know where crop circles on ice come from. 😅
🤫😆
Sweet video! Thanks for sharing!
sweet pulls!
Heck yeah! I used to do this on my dirtbike back in the day. Always worked like a champ. Salute!
Love it, a lot of patience needed studding those tires!
Whole project was like 12-13 hours of studding 🤪
Wow I believe it!
Never a disappointing video Pete. Love the idea of you racing on ice.
Good idea for a video and crazy nice air shot doin donuts on the ice
That intro was sick! 🔥🔥
ذ😂ي٠😊😊
This was so awesome to watch. Having just experienced the ice with studded tires, I was loving this video. Those drone shots were insane. I'll have to have you rip one of they boys Blasters with the studded tires next season.
Awsome!!
Great vid fam
cool video man!!
awesome video man! i miss ice racing so much!
I gotta alot of favorites but when it comes to CZcams and atvs pete hager is a beast!!!!
Killer intro man!!!
Sick 🤟🤟
Now this we can never do lol. its never cold long enough in South Carolina. Snow maybe, but it wouldn't stick lol
That’s a lot of work!!! But it’s cool!!!😎💪🇺🇸
What GoPro and mic set-up are you rocking?? Awesome video.
You shold consider installing a kill swich cable. You ever happen to fall off while its in gear it wont stop rolling until it hists something hard enough to stall it out. Also most official race events will require you to have it
A tether is a good idea. I’ll have to look into that this season 👍
@PeteHager they aren't hard to install.
Also set up your rear suspension with the rebound setting as slow as it will go.
And a lowering kit and wheel spacers will help. When you are going into a corner you want to lean over the side hard. I put my foot in the nerf bar net with my toes on the bar to keep the center of gravity low. And moto riding boots . If some how you foot lips thoes boots will jam between the perfect bars and studded wheel stalling the bike. Studded will rip through pants and work boots and snowmobile boots like a meat grinder.
Good luck 👍 and have fun. Lpl
I agree that too many studs are no good😅. Then you can't play on ice like that and for example do a 360 on a high speed.
That is so nuts! Looks fun, how thick is that ice?
It was about 12 inches thick everywhere when this was filmed. It was trippy to ride on at times 😅
Can we all agree Pete’s edits are 🔥 nice tires btw Pete!! I’d love to know what editing software you use to tbh!
Thanks man! I edit with Final Cut Pro on an iMac 👍
@@PeteHager that’s awesome Pete love the content as always! You’ve been a huge inspiration of mine to post videos of my raptor so thank you dude seriously I’m very appreciative of you and the content!! Love how supportive and humble you are towards everyone keep it up man!! Thanks again
I hope you get 200k subs
Are your gold wheels just stock powder coated or where did you get them?
Love it🤣🤣 Pete Do you have a link to those Nerf Bars that will fit with the GYTR Heel Guards? Cheers Bro!
Unfortunately I’m not sure if they’re available anymore. I special ordered them through ATVgalaxy 5 years ago. I would check with them. Otherwise the actual GYTR nerfs are really nice and fit perfectly with the aluminum heel guards 👍
@@PeteHager Great Cheers for the info Pete much appreciated Mate👍👍
@@keithmurray8249 I did read a post the other day saying the powdercoat on the GYTR nerfs isn’t the best. If I bought a set I would probably get them recoated locally. Kinda of a bummer but they fit the frame/heel guard contours nicely 👍
So Glad I read this now Pete as I was about to get them, they were in my cart!! not a great selection for anything here in oz for Sport ATV's I get everything from the States, thanks so much for the feedback and see u in your next Video Bro🤘
Hey Pete I ordered a TRX250X case saver off your channel but haven't heard anything on it for a week, is something going on with DRW?
Unfortunately DRW has had some production issues this past month and they’re a little behind. I was told case savers are being cut today. For future updates don’t hesitate to reach out on our websites contact page 👍
Awesome edits as usual! I dont even want to know how long those tires took you 😂
Like 12 hours to do all 4. Each rear was like 3.5-4 hours 😅
@@PeteHager my guess was a full weekend in the garage, so basically 😂
@PeteHager Hey bro, I just bought a new "2024 Yamaha Raptor 700R SE 69th Anniversary Edition" it has the GYTR front grab bar, rear grab bar, front & back GYTR Suspension, & the big bore kit, & more that all came stock with the SE version, AKA= Special Edition. But I am definitely gonna put a "FAST FLEX HANDLEBAR" on it, but i also wanted to put a new full exhaust & a new full intake, & obviously when you pit a new intake & exhaust on pretty much everything you will definitely want to get it tuned, but this baby only has less than 1 mile on it, so i don't know if I should wait for the 10-20hours of the break in period then put the new exhaust, intake, & tune, before I break it in, or afterwards??? Any help would be greatly appreciated, even brands that would be best for this specific bike, which because it is a "2024 Yamaha Raptor 700R SE 69th Anniversary Edition" I don't even know if anyone has created a exhaust, intake, & ect... for this because its brand new off the showroom floor at the dealership, its just so new that even the lucky people who got w chance to but one they are keeping it completely stock, & not doing anything to it, but i already knew that I was going to make it at least 50+ inches wide, & at least an extra 6-8 inches longer, & then the "Fast Flex Bars" & the exhaust, intake, & tune, but this is the first brand new bike ive ever bought, i used to just buy slightly used quads, bikes, sleds, etc but I don't know if i should add the intake & exhaust, & tune before or after the 10-20hours of the break in period, so any help would be greatly appreciated please & thank you!!!
Whats the topspeed of your quad (Raptor700) on the road @Pete Hager
With the 15 tooth front sprocket the Dyno forecasted the top speed to be in the low 90's. I'm pretty sure I still have the speed limiter active on mine though. I've had it up to the low 80's on the pavement
@PeteHager I'm also going to get a raptor, but I want to make it so that it stands on its wheels the same as a YFZ 450 so that it doesn't tip over so quickly, do you happen to know what I need to change?
😎👌
How thick does that ice have to be for you to ride safely on it?
5-7 inches don't put a machine on it if it is any less
@@user-zy5ld2hy8c thx for answering.
Do you have to tire slime those after?
Nope, from what I read it sounds like most guys don’t put any sealants in their tires
Why dont you ride the yfz much anymore ?
I actually sold the YFZ. Now that I’ve upgraded the raptors suspension it has become the ultimate do it all machine for me. The only time I really preferred the YFZ was on a track or hitting bigger jumps. I’d like to replace it with a 2 stroke eventually🤘
Love ur vidoes and ur quad Pete lmk when y want to sell ur raptor it would help a dream of mine to own that machine
I can’t see myself parting ways with it anytime soon. There’s a lot of history on that machine 😅😁
@@PeteHager totally understand man but hey when the time comes if u ever want to I’ll be more then willing but other then that keep up the great content
Whats your summer tires pete
I’ve been running Obor Advents the last 2 seasons 👍
😘
Did the tires leak air at all?
They seem to hold air just fine for a days worth of riding 👍
what pipe is that??
5:02 what’s whole nother
Whole nother tire** Its code for “I have another tire to stud” 😉
Hey pete! Would u consider sharing our channel? Hope your doing well!
'promo sm'
We want kilograms no lbs shit
Wtf is a kilometagram?
You’re not gonna believe this but there’s a search engine called Google that will convert measurements and weights for you. It’s crazy. You just type in 19.2 lbs to kg and it tells you 8.709 kilograms. You should try it sometime 👌
Hey Pete, just have a question I got a raptor and don’t have enough for a new pipe if I remove the spark arrestor and leave the air box on will the bike get hotter or will any harm at all happen I’ve seen mixed answers and not sure thank you.
You should be okay to pull the spark arrestor. You could always look into getting a HMF or Yoshimura slip on instead of a full system to save a few dollars. Technically I’ve seen people riding without programmers and slip on exhausts but I recommend saving for a power commander to insure the quad runs properly 👍
