  • Jahden Nelson lost both arms after a horror electrical shock on a building site, working as a scaffolder for SuperCity Scaffolding. From Middlemore Hospital he speaks about his miraculous survival and the urgent need for better health and safety conditions for Māori workers. Partner Santana Tierney is at his side while he learns to walk again. His mother Toni Paikea, Site Safe's Jeff Strampel, lawyer Hazel Armstrong, and First Union's Syd Keepa, speak out about concerns on the dangers in the construction industry. SuperCity director Claire Attard declined an interview. Neighbour Carol Oliver describes the incident that day.

You amaze me with your courage and mindset. You have overcome so much especially with your current situation you have found yourself in. I hope you persue with success the challenge of your settlement and that it will not restore your life 100% I'm so sorry to hear you've become the unfortunate one, yet your story has only brought light and awareness. With love and light. Bless you and your beautiful whānau. Arohanui.

All the best to Jarden 🙏
But when Union Syd comes on saying there's no safety measures in place and we the individuals have to do our own H&S, what a load of kaka Syd. You discredit all the good work unions do when you spin your kaka for the television 🤦
