NB ~ To Be Clear, the 'choking' incident at the end of this footage IS A GAG; in both senses of the term. The man is Sal Jenco, an old friend of JD's, and it was a staged set-up.
Why? Cos it was the '90s. And why NOT?
OR it was a cute send-up of celebrity actor as life-saving super-hero.
í'm sure Johnny WOULD have saved someone's life if he had just happened upon them at the exact moment of their possible death...
But, in this instance, it was phoney and funny, at the time...
I didn’t think it was possible but after how Johnny treated that homeless man I have even more respect for him....
It was scripted, come on lol. That entire segment didn't feel real at all.

Johnny is a pure kind soul. First he took the time to speak and give money to a homeless man then he saves his life as the man is choking while the other two men just sit and watch. Even more reason to love this man.

At 7:43, there is a building on the right with a lit up, round sign and a striped awning on the front. That is the building that is now a taco stand (Cabo Cantina) at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and N Sweetzer Avenue. The funny thing is that in 1995, Johnny would buy the castle (which he owns today) that is located down that road. That is 3 years after this was filmed.

yes it was real. In fact some people freeze when faced with a situation, but some people thrive under pressure and their mind goes into hyperdrive. Also, Johnny seems to have a "saving people" thing (he has saved like a ton of people from death) and when he sees someone in need of assistance he rushes in to help them without thinking.

These guys were gossips and the conversation got on Nicolas Cage who was a friend of Johnny's. Thankfully it moved on to someone else. I think Ross may have gotten told off.
