In this I take a look at the Samsung budget tablet and compare it to a Samsung midrange tablet; in order to help your purchasing decision, I wanted to pit the Tab A7 vs Tab S6 Lite.
Although I have gotten around to test both tablets and still am continuing with my test, I wanted to share what I found so far so that you can figure out whether this is a best midrange or budget tablet for you.

On the Tab A7 , Go in Developer Mode and activate "Force Allow Apps on External" then you can move apps on the SD card. Used to have a LG tablet that didn't allow me to move apps until I switched on that feature. Hopefully this works!

This function is confirmed to not work on the A7.
Its intentional by Samsung and for no good reason other then to have you buy a new low end tablet sooner, since the old versions lasted too long with users.

I personally haven't heard anything, but it is very possible. Although, to be honest Samsung has been so all over the place with the phone releases and options, that I am looking forward to what they are going to do next year with the tablets in terms of names, category, etc

Glad I found your video! Leaning towards the A7 since it is cheaper and mainly gonna use it for Zoom lectures on the go (got a online class in between two in person classes). S6 Lite was up there but only if I used it as my main device since I still take notes on paper.

Love your videos. You're a great reviewer. I've been a Samsung tablet user for a very long time and a lot of apps can't be transferred over to a MicroSD card. I mainly use tablets to copy and paste notes on my note taking app and I bookmark websites on my home screen. I watch CZcams videos and CZcams movies. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

ONLY 27K SUBS!!? i was reading the comments and everyone was saying how little subs you have for the quality of your vids. i thought maybe you had like a 100k subs bcos the production quality feels more like 800k subs channel. but as i scroll up again to check and its only 27k! wow man you deserve at minimum 300 - 400k subs for this kind of production quality and ofcourse the excellent comments and reviews you make.

Concerning IPS, Samsung avoids using the name since it’s proprietary to LG (few people actually know this...), in order to avoid paying licensing, but their display are indeed equivalent to IPS

@@IvanKam11 Yep, Samsung's version of IPS (in-plane switching) is called PLS (plane-to-line switching), and most likely what's used in both the S6 lite and A7. Furthermore, TFT is short for thin-film transistor and tells you exactly nothing about the display type. I know that Samsung themselves calls them "TFT displays" on their website, and that's pretty stupid. Even AMOLED displays use TFTs and therefore technically are "TFT displays". Some people might think that a TFT display is the same as a TN (twisted nematic) type LCD, but that's incorrect. These tablets definitely don't use TN panels. TN type LCDs are pretty easy to identify, because they have relatively bad viewing angles and turn dark when viewed from one particular direction (usually from the bottom).
@@amarokorama Exactly. I bought a good latop with an absolutely shitty TFT display. The angles are so bad you can barely see things. First thing I noticed when picked this tablet was: how the heck is this TFT? I also googled and got it clear: This is not cheap TFT TN. It’s basically an IPS with good viewing angles.

Very good review. I got all the information that I actually needed! That being said - the only thing kept annoying me were you hands that kept waving side to side - it was quite... distracting. Perhaps raising the camera just a little so your hands don't come on focus too much?

Thanks for the comparison! Able to move apps to SD card and saving up space seems to be a big issue, thanks for mentioning that, it really draws my attention to S6 lite. Since I'm not a heavy user, not even use it for gaming, but want a tablet for net surfing/youtube/word processing/e-book, seems worth it to invest more money to buy the Tab S6 lite for long term use.
You actually can move apps to the sd card on the a7 you have to go to developer mode aand force apps on sd card

Great comparison. I have got an S6 Lite instead of A7 mainly because of Samsung announcement to support 3 android OS upgrades for the S- tablets. That made the definitive argument to choose.
Interesting, definetly something to consider.

Here we are in 2022 now, and I have just ordered a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, I have not had a tablet before so I am looking forward to it's arrival! "Ivan what brand-name and type of micro SD card should I purchase to expand the memory of my tablet? it's a 64GB tablet" I have not used them before, and I find it's a bit of a mine field of which one I need to get? SanDisk? 128GB 1, 256GB 1 OR 2? not sure which one to get Thanks Ivan!

I was really looking everywhere for a good comparison between these two tablets especially the difference in their displays. I wanted to know about the display on the Tab S6 Lite and whether it was actually warmer than the Tab A7's display because I have a Tab A7 and the color temperature is really cool. I'm planning to get the Tab S6 Lite 2022 and give my Tab A7 to one of my friends. I found the answer to exactly what I was looking for in this video. You specifically addressed it. Thank you!

Went with the s6 lite as well. I like that it has fast charging capability, double tap on screen to wake it up, 4gb ram, and of course the s pen.

Should have gotten the tab s5e instead, it's better in every single way except it doesn't have a pen. I find pens useless anyway and it's annoying having them on the back

A7 seems like a great budget option for budget friendly students, I can see someone hooking up an external keyboard to get papers done away from a computer or check emails/stream. I still have my Tab S5e and I don't miss not having the S pen- there are cheaper alternatives that work well. I primarily use mine for gaming/ streaming and I love it. Looking to get a tablet for my dad, I am leaning towards the Tab S6 Lite even though I don't see him using the S pen. He barely uses the stylus on with Note 10 😂

I have the regular tab s6 and picked up the tab a7 today for the kids for Xmas and I'm really impressed with it it's very similar to my tablet at a fraction of the cost the speakers are loud and the screen is bright and clear its not going to be great at multitasking as the RAM is significantly less but the apps I've tried run smoothly i think they will be very happy with it I wish I'd known about the expandable storage though as I got the 32 gig thinking I'd be able to upgrade it with an SD card like you can with other Samsung devices.

I ve the s6 lite and I m very happy with it. Netflix or CZcams works fine or Microsoft teams for work as well and surfing the web. I d recommend it

This was very helpful. I was between these 2 tablets but ultimately wanted the S Pen for digital art.
Idk why I am watching these after buying the tab S7. Probably cause of the recommended algorithm and your Air 4 and S7 video helped me finalize my decision. I was able to snag one before the scalpers ruined Samsung student week. Got it for $308.12 with my $200 chase cash back. As a student and learning to draw it seems like a good buy. One not for future videos I got small hands and when I compared the tablet to your video I was like oh his hands are way bigger than mine and thats why it seems so heavy and huge lol. Awesome channel.
